Incontinence pants

I don’t know anything about the pants but just wanted to say what a bad time you’re having and to wish you all the very best for a good recovery. Sending hugs and healing vibes.

Oh poor you - hope you are able to be home soon. Could you ask the nursing staff for their advice? Will you have help when you are home?

I think the hospital will sort all that out for you when you are ready to go home My elderly friend was in for a few weeks and before she went home she was seen by a specialist nurse to go over all her needs at home and they set my friend up with all sort of help aids to get her started after leaving hospital
They are the best people to take advice from knowing your size your medical history your needs

Oh so sorry Granyma. I buy these pants for mum from the supermarket, I get her the Tena lady ones they come in different sizes,
colours and absorbencies.
At the moment their £8 for 9. Our local authority have an incontinence nurse that came to see mum at home she was excellent, but can only supply the free pads which she accepted, but found them a bit uncomfortable as caused a bit of chaffing.
So she has to fund them herself, but finds them much better. Hope you feel well again very soon.

Most Councils have a continence department and suitable supplies - size and absorbency are delivered to the home address.
Little choice, but for double incontinence, Attends (adult nappies hate that name!) are available as they make changing bed bound patients easier for both them and their carers - not having to pull wet/soiled pants down and off.
Should you be thinking just odd accidents or dribbles, have a look on Boots website to see if there’s anything there that might do the job, eg Tena.

Google Tena and click the link for a free sample pack? I know they used to do this, and I expect other brands will too (sorry I can't think of the names right now - 'Always' is one).
You will also get a supply of free ones from the NHS, but as Georgesgran says, they are bulky and not very comfortable.
I'm sorry you're in this position but it can be managed discreetly and it should improve with time.

I had this problem with my H but the NHS/ local authority will only supply pads as has been said.
Then you have to buy the “ nets” to keep them in place.
I bought pull-ups in bulk from a company , I think, in Preston.
They were far from cheap but the best solution for us.
As to pulling them down to remove ,the sides tore open as the children’s pull ops do.

Try AgeUK. They have a shop with incontinence products and aids. Excellent service, I order one day and usually delivered the next. They have a big range of brands and prices.

Once you have found the product that works for you, make sure to 'shop around' online to get the best deal.. Superdrug are worth considering and often have really good offers on multibuy.

Hope you feel better soon. If it is for stress incontinence you could try period pants - either Modibodi or Giggle knickers - you wash and reuse. I think M and S do them as well.

BTW, if you buy them for yourself, you should be exempt from paying vat on them. This also applies in shops but you would have to go through the rigmarole of getting the vat forms from the pharmacy or customer services.

If the hospital don’t make any arrangements for you then you need to contact the District Nurse via you doctors surgery . They should be able to come out and do a continence assessment for you.
This could take a few weeks between assessment and supplies being delivered , in which case you may have to buy them yourself for a little while. I’m not sure but they may provide a disposal service as well .
I hope that you get sorted without too much problem .

Grandyma occupational therapy deal with incontinence issues and could supply you with a commode if you need one and incontinence pants.
ageukincontinence.co.uk sell them if you can't get them free.

Also talk to your GP surgery they could give you a prescription for incontinence pants or pads.

Thank you all so much. Hopefully I will only need the protection for a very short time. Mainly it’s the medication causing the problem and only for urine. I’ve noted all your suggestions and will have a look online. Thanks again for all your lovely good wishes.

We used to order Tena pads from Inc Choice. They seemed to be the best price. Occupational Health via your GP can supply one pack per month which means 1 per day.

M&S period pants are good. So sorry to hear of your situation.
Hope you soon feel well enough to be discharged home and to some kind of normality. Yes, we must ‘ make the most of every day’
