For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

Sweetpeasue Wed 25-Oct-23 09:59:59

Doodle Hope you get your procedure done with no delays and can come home soon.
HVDYHope you have a decent day. Its thick fog here, a real pea-souper.

Doodle Wed 25-Oct-23 18:57:42

Hi all. Looks like I might be here till the weekend,
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes.
Wyllow I’m still thinking of you and hoping you’re ok.
I have read all but sorry can’t reply to each one.
You’re all so kind to think of me. I’m ok but confined to bed at the moment, very fetching pair of support socks in navy blue 😱. Just waiting for surgeon and theatre space but they’re busy because lots of docs are on hols for half term. I didn’t pick a good week apparently. 😊.
Please take care all. Despite not writing much I am thinking of you all.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night. xxx

HowVeryDareYou2 Wed 25-Oct-23 19:19:39

Doodle Don't worry about us, you just you try to relax. Hope you get dealt with as soon as possible. In the meantime, eat and drink what you can, and try to get som sleep (not easy in hospital). x

SweetpeaSue Did the fog clear?

Tidied up a LOT of stuff Son1 had left at the house. MASSES of clothes, bedding, towels, toys, toiletries. All bagged up now. He's got the keys until Monday, I think, so I'll go there again before then to help out again.

Hope ALL BDers, new and old, have a relaxing evening x

Sweetpeasue Wed 25-Oct-23 19:43:41

Doodle Thinking of you and hoping you'll not have to wait long. My socks were green! Proper Nora Batty. X
HVDY Fog still here.
You've had your work cut out today. How do they accumulate so much stuff? My days been ok. Stripped bed so nice and fresh tonight. Out for a few bits then easy day. Joined shoulder seam then picked up and knit neck. Just sleeves to attatch BUT - - its far too short!🤦😭Ah well, all practice.
Nadateturbe Hope you managed art group today.

Hoping all have been ok x

Scaredycat Wed 25-Oct-23 21:50:47

Hi all.
HVDY- you,ve had a busy day! What a lovely Mum you are.
Just had my hair cut this morning - pleased with it. I have very fine hair so it’s best short. Always enjoy going though as my DD and I have known him for ages so there’s always plenty to natter about. My friend came for a cuppa this afternoon so more chatting. I,m done in now but a nice day.
It’s nice your DH sees his mates for breakfast - my DH does that on Sunday before playing golf.
Allsorts- nice to see you. I,m sorry you too have the sorrow of estrangement such a sadness. I think you are right those nasty dreams must be triggered by the traumas we have suffered .
That’s terrible to have to queue outside for possible appointments- how hard when the weather is bad.
Doodle- Hope it’s not too long before you can have your procedure- and that whatever it is it will help you feel better.it’s not easy getting restful sleep in hospital is it. All those little bleeps and pings that never seem to stop.
Have you got an eye mask for night times - they do help.
Yes like HVDY says - try and eat what you can - again not easy in hospital!! Drink loads too. Wishing you a comfortable and restful a night as possiblexx
SweetPeaSue- hope the fog cleared eventually. Glad you didn’t have too bad a day- lovely to get into your fresh bed tonight. Your jumper will still look nice even if it’s a bit short - you could wear a fairly fitted longer top underneath.
Wyllow- sending loving thoughts your way- hope you are ok .

nadateturbe Wed 25-Oct-23 22:04:19

Scaredycat I hope your satisfied with your hair and feeling good, whatever you were having done. I always feel better after having my hair cut. Did you do anything else while you were out?
I didn't find the sweater I want, it's not a good idea going shopping with a particular style in mind. But yes I love sweaters and winter scarves, boots etc.
I got to art. A couple of people actually said, I'm only here for the coffee break. It is an important part of the class 😁.
Allsorts what an utterly ridiculous insufficient service your surgery provides. I hope you've complained to your M.P. and Health Trust. Indeed, as you say, if you're sick, it doesn't work. You could bring a stool with you, so you don't have to stand. I did that while queueing at our pharmacy during the pandemic.
Please don't feel you're inadequate in any way. My son and DiL didn't speak to me for years. It doesn't mean there's something wrong with me. Many on GN have had the same thing happen.
HVDY I wonder why your brother can't manage now, when he used to, very odd. You did well to look after baby for 24 hours. I hope you didn't have too much to do today at your sons.
Sweetpeasue thanks for explaining about your husbands meds. That is so infuriating. They're just not taking enough time to make the right decision.
Im sorry you have those dreams about your mum. I too remember my darling mother saying and doing things that were hurtful when she had dementia. But it wasn't really her doing it. Dementia is such a terrible sad illness.
Just noticed some new posts!!

nadateturbe Wed 25-Oct-23 22:09:40

Doodle thanks for the update.. I hope all goes well with your procedure.
Don't worry about us. Just rest and look after yourself. We are all thinking of you.xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Wed 25-Oct-23 22:29:26

SweetpeaSue It's lovely to get into a clean bed smile. Could you add a piece onto the bottom? I don't know, I can't knit.

Scaredycat My hair is fine, too, but the hairdresser says I've got a lot of it. I have mine layered. Mine's wavy as well. I wish I could do it like hairdressers do.

nadateturbe My brother is really hopeless - and I'm his only support, so I feel a certain amount of sympathy and duty towards him (he doesn't reciprocate).

I've been doing 2 lots of washing from Son1's. I've had some on the line but finished it in the dryer, so the majority of it is dry now.

Off to bed now, so "see you" all tomorrow x

nadateturbe Wed 25-Oct-23 22:44:35

HVDY sounds like you had a busy time at your son's. Men, honestly!
Sweetpeasue I can't wait for bedtime when I've changed the bed. A fresh bed feels so good.
I'm glad you've had a good day. I'd love to see your sweater. Short sweaters are quite trendy. I've bought a short sweatshirt in Matalan. Doesn't reach far below my waist.
I made art, but we spent half the time chatting with coffee.
It must have been awful as a child to feel so shy that you burst into tears. Do you socialise much now?
I've joined a book group that meets in the library in Friday. I haven't a clue what it will be like but nothing to lose.
Hope your fog clears quickly, can't remember last time we had fog.
Scaredycat glad you're pleased with your hair, It's good to feel comfortable with your hairdresser. And having a friend round. It's tiring but worth it. I love when friends come much more than meeting outside.

I think I'll take a sleeping pill tonight. I only had about four hours sleep last night. I'm not very good at sleeping.

Thinking of you Wyllow3 sending loving hugs.
And Candy Whiff Hymnbook and all on BD.

Wishing you all a peaceful night.xx

Wyllow3 Wed 25-Oct-23 23:48:12

Night night and hugs....good wishes to all hoping Doodle things happen quickly for you as well as all BD's.

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 26-Oct-23 08:16:27

It's a dismal morning here. DH is going to Son2's later, to change some pipework and put it into the wall (?) I'm not going to go to the day centre today, so will have the house to myself and do some faffing about grin. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day. x

Ellie Anne Thu 26-Oct-23 12:41:52

I’ve got another cold. Second in 3 weeks. Any suggestions how to avoid them?
Doodle hoping all goes well for you.
I’ve lost track of everyone a bit but agree that short jumpers are in layered over something.
I’ve managed a walk this morning. The colours are lovely.
Wyllow I hope you are ok and getting the help you need.

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 26-Oct-23 17:27:42

EllieAnne Sorry to hear that. I don't think there's anything you can do to avoid getting colds. There are always a lot of things going around at this time of year - October to February is the usual time when people get viruses. I know from working in the care sector, those months were the worst for feeling ill. I've had a cold/cough for a week now and did feel really unwell, but I've just been taking Paracetamol, and drinking lots of water. Hope you feel better soon.

How has everyone been? Hope you're ok, Doodle.

I changed my bed, did the washing, folded loads of dry, clean washing. Hoovered, polished and tidied downstairs. Brother rang and texted several times - one to ask if it's possible to cook sausages in the oven!

nadateturbe Thu 26-Oct-23 17:45:28

HVDY I'm not sure all that work counts as "faffing about " lol.
I can't believe your brother has reached his senior years without knowing the answer to that. Mind you, my husband reads instructions for potatoes!
EllieAnne autumn colours are lovely. Sorry about another cold. I heard somewhere that vitamin C helps, but I don't think there's a lot that helps. Some people are more prone to colds I think.
I took one third of a 10mg amitriptyline pill last night and slept until 10.30am!! I don't remember the last time I woke so late.

Doodle Thu 26-Oct-23 20:26:50

Hi all. Just a quick message to say I had a pacemaker fitted this afternoon. I’m ok but arm aches and very tired.
Thinking of you all and hoping to be back soon xxx

nadateturbe Thu 26-Oct-23 20:30:28

Doodle I'm sure you're glad it's done. I know very little about it, but I hope it helps, I'm sure it will. And I'm glad you were attended to quickly.
Hoppe you are home soon. xx

nadateturbe Thu 26-Oct-23 20:30:37

Hope!

Scaredycat Thu 26-Oct-23 20:43:25

Doodle- so glad you,ve had it done- you must have had a very low heart rate. I hope you will soon feel stronger and start to feel yourself again. You must have felt awful. Sending lots of love and wishing you a restful nightxx

nadateturbe Thu 26-Oct-23 20:54:39

Hopefully you'll soon enjoy walks again 🙂.x

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 26-Oct-23 20:57:26

nadateturbe Some years ago, my brother asked me how to light his oven. It was electric! He only learned how to cook (very basic stuff) about 20 years ago. He's never known how to do a roast dinner or anything like that. You had a long sleep! You must have needed it.

Doodle I'm glad it's all been done. You'll get used to it and it will help with your heart rate. I bet your husband has been missing you. Take it easy, get well, and I hope you'll be home soon.

I'm quite tired today, and the backs of my legs ache from bending over a lot yesterday when I packed up lots of stuff of Son1's. I'm looking forward to my fresh bed. Hope ALL BDers have a restful sleep x

Sweetpeasue Thu 26-Oct-23 21:20:22

Doodle So glad that the cause of your problem was found so promptly. As Scaredycat said, you must have felt awful and knew something wasn't right. I hope you can get home soon. Just try and rest and wish you a quick recovery back to full health. Sending a gentle hug. x

Sweetpeasue Thu 26-Oct-23 23:03:33

Sorry not been able to reply to personal posts. Wishing all BDs a peaceful night.

Wyllow3 Thu 26-Oct-23 23:41:36
