I would discuss with your Dr about stopping or cutting your dose before you do so yourself. They can suggest alternative medication that you might not know about.

I'm concerned that you seem to have decided instead of doubling the dose as suggested by a medical professional, to stop taking the medication completely based on what you've read on Google. I think it would be advisable to discuss your decision with your GP. Stopping omeprazole may increase your symptoms significantly. Maybe stay on your current dose until you can see your GP who will be able to suggest alternative medication.

I had to change to Lansprozole for my hiatus hernia and also take Stemetil for nausea.
Metoclopramide makes me very unwell.

I can’t take Omeprazole regularly, it lowers my sodium, Famotidine is my prescribed drug for hernia/reflux. I take metocloprimide as and when for nausea caused by the reflux.
Perhaps ask for something else.

Is this the first time your Dr has seen you since you were put on omeprozole. 12 months is a long time without any checks.
But, he has checked you now so you can only assume that all is ok.

No, it wasn’t my regular Doctor. It was the same day team if I want to see my regular doctor, I can take up to a month to get a face-to-face appointment 😬

Shinamae Please Google the side effects of Omeprazole (there are many). I would think carefully whether you really want to take it long term which is not recommended.

I have now decided to stop taking it after reading some not so pleasant side-effects.. just see how it goes

Having had bad acid reflux my doctor put me on this about 12 months ago. I have just been to same day Doctor because I had symptoms of nausea, sweating and increased heart rate, but he did an ECG and did my vital signs and apparently I’m okay, but he did say I should increase the omeprazole from one a day to two a day because he thinks it will help with the nausea, but I am reluctant to do this as have heard some not so positive things about this drug,So any experience shared will help.
Thanks in anticipation ..
