My eldest daughter needed emergency brain surgery yesterday for an anuerysm. My nephew her first cousin died of the same thing in April this year at the same age as her. I have spent all night awake we are going to the hospital early this morning. I am asking for any and all advice from grandmothers who may have had experience in this area. My head is full of all kinds of stuff. I can't seem to calm down and think straight it's just not like me. I was a nurse so have a fair bit of knowledge clinically but I very muddled on anything else. Any support very welcome. Thankyou.

I have a friend whose brother has had this done 20 years ago and is still going strong physically but it did change is personality a bit, so be prepared for that, I think being an ex nurse makes you over think the situation perhaps more than a layperson. Fingers crossed for your DD , hopefully she comes out the other side without any side effects.💞

Only just seen and caught up with your post on Thursday BigBertha. What a frightening, worrying thing to happen.
It sounds as the news is very positive and I hope that you are able to take a deep breath and just relax a little bit now.

BigBertha1 The partner of a friend had surgery for an aneurysm about a month ago. She was worried sick he wouldn't make it and he spent some time in an induced coma in ICU. He's still in hospital but in a normal ward and has to be kept quiet. He's not allowed his phone, but he's making good progress and will be allowed home soon, when care can be arranged. He's only in his early 40s. He won't be able to work for a while, which is worrying, but fortunately friends and family are rallying round. He's been warned that he'll have to make some lifestyle changes (diet, smoking, alcohol), but he's going to be fine.

I appreciate everybody is different, but your daughter's aneurysm was discovered before it ruptured, so hopefully she'll be fine too. flowers
