Do you have enough meds to get you through to January?

I ordered my meds a week early.

I always have some in hand and think well ahead because now our pharmacy wants seven days’ notice and one of my medications can be hard for them to source so sometimes not available even then.

I have also stocked up with sufficient food to see the birds through!

Not a joke - but my hypochondriac friend had enough to last all of 2024!

I have a diary reminder to re-order. Boots here in the SW take about a week to fill the prescription and sometimes they give me an IOU for one item. At the moment I've waited 3 weeks for it to arrive though I do have a spare.

Our problem is that there are restricted hours for collection at our local pharmacy, less than three and a half days out of five per week. The pharmacist owns three other pharmacies two hundred miles away and attempts to manage them all himself. This week prescriptions can only be collected during four hours each day, and they are not sure how long they will be open tomorrow (Friday.)
My prescription is there but I couldn't collect it yesterday because no pharmacist was present, or this morning at 11 o'clock, no pharmacist again, but hopefully one will be there from 2 to 6 pm. this afternoon.

Had my supply delivered last week but I always have a least a week's worth of all my tablets to be in the safe side. Order my tablets via NHS app usually on a Saturday they are shown to be approved on Monday and sometimes I get them on a Monday but never later than Wednesday.

I’ve just picked them up Chardy. I nearly got ahead of myself when I went to bed last night and got my morning pills out to take, realised before I popped them into my mouth 🤣

Yes I think the pharmacy attached to our surgery now needs 7 days for a repeat prescription.

Grandmabatty Thu 21-Dec-23 10:19:54

Yup. Ordered my prescription by email on Thursday, picked it up on Monday. All good

Thanks for publicising that reminder.
My DH reminded me to reorder yesterday as our Boots need at least two weeks to get meds in even in normal circumstances, never mind two long bank holidays following two weekends.

Yes thank you, I planned ahead. My surgery takes 7 days to produce a repeat prescription plus there have been supply issues at the pharmacy, so today would definitely be far too late to start the process.

Good luck everybody.

Yes thank you. Important reminder though.

Apparently some don't check they have a ten day supply to get them through the festivities. Pharmacies may be working, but certain suppliers might not be.
Hope this problem, which was highlighted last week on TV, doesn't affect any of us, or our loved ones.
