SweetpeaSue I bought the dressing gown for Son2's birthday, along with a few other bits, so he'll have something to open (it's his 40th on 6th). Got him a tour round Thornbridge brewery, also go-karting with a mate. I'd imagine the red bit on your tongue is where the biopsy was done. Will your DH see his usual GP on Friday?

nadateturbe My GD would need to leave at about 6.45! (that school starts at 8.15), so mum is taking her for now. It's ridiculous that she can't get into the school that is literally 5 minutes' walk from home. I think trying to do something on a regular day once a week is a good idea. I try to do that, too.

For Son2's birthday (on a Wednesday), we're going out for a meal in the evening, to his favourite Indian restaurant. Then the day after, DIL's taking him to Hoo Zoo (I'd never heard of it) for an Arctic fox and Wolf feeding experience. He'll love that. We'll have baby that day, also take and fetch other girl to/from school. Hope all goes well at the hospital today. Perhaps ask if someone could help you with the wheelchair?

Update - nephew had been in hospital all weekend, but was discharged yesterday. He's apparently been put on Warfarin.

It's a grey morning. DH is off to meet a few of his old friends, for a Wetherspoons breakfast, so I'll sort out my B&M purchases - a new dinner service, cutlery set (need to clear the other stuff out), 2 bird feeders. Hope ALL BDers manage to see a bit of sunshine x

HVDY its good your nephew is out of hospital. Warfarin should help. My brother was put on that many years ago for a clot. New dinner service, lovely! Food will taste so much nicer 😋.
It's absolutely ridiculous that your GD has to leave at 6.45 if she uses public transport. I think I would complain to someone. I remember people here in NI being given paid taxis in certain circumstances for travel to school. .
Your son's birthday treats sound lovely, I'm sure he'll enjoy. I must Google Hoo Zoo.

My son came for tea. So lovely to see him. But after 3 hours, I'm afraid I left the chat to my husband and sat in the recliner half asleep lol. I'm useless not very good with long visits. But I'm so glad he came. Hadn't seen him since Christmas.

Doodle- hope the hospital visit wasn’t quite as strenuous today- you,ll get muscles like Popeye at this rate. Yes we didn’t appreciate our youthful energy did we- I think that’s why the time goes so quickly as it takes twice as long to do anything!!
Had a walk this afternoon - lots of daffs and snowdrops out now. The wind was cold though so had to wrap up. It,ll be great when you get the hoist fitted in your car so you can start to get out together . Hope you,ve been ok today.
HVDY- sounds like both your Sons are going to have great Birthdays. 2 nice days to look forward to.
It does seem daft that your GD can’t go to the nearest school . An hour and a half is a long time to travel and then have homework etc.
I would love the Wolf experience - they are so lovely. You get to spend the day with Chubby Chops - everybody happy.

Nadateturbe- yes doing something regular gives you something to look forward to . I have neck arthritis too and it makes me feel a bit lightheaded if I look upwards.
I agree being with family makes me more happy than anything- we are lucky to have them all .

HVDY that’s some good thoughtful gifts for your son, Hope he enjoys his 40th . The meal out sounds good as does his zoo visit. I’ve seen an arctic fox and wolves and bears. He should enjoy that and you have a nice time with the children.
Good news your nephew is out of hospital. The blood thinner should help avoid the blood clots. Hope he’s ok.

Real struggle today and we’re back tomorrow but on Friday we are having a hoist fitted in the car for DHs wheelchair so at last my aching shoulders can have a rest. How lovely to have your son visit. I’m sure he enjoyed his time with you and his dad even if you weren’t able to talk all the time. Nice to see him again.
Scaredycat I’m actually quite surprised that my arms keep aching. I would have thought by now my muscles would have got used to me helping DH up and pushing him about but it appears not. I’m just out of shape and not fit enough I suppose.

HVDY Not long since my youngest turned 40. Time goes so fast. Looks like it will ne a lovely celebration for him and the family and some really interesting things for him to do. I'd never heard of Hoo Zoo either. It's crazy that your GD can't get to her local school ,especially since the other one is so far away. That's a huge inconvenience. Could she be put on a waiting list in the meantime? I hope your nephew goes on OK now he's at home. Such a worry for everyone .
Scaredycat Your walk sounded beautiful. Its wonderful to see the spring flowers coming up . Reminds us in a way that everything is coming to life again. I'll be glad to see the GP with my DH . Since that GP has started to just do F2F appts it's so much better. We need to insist the headaches are taken seriously. He just had an appt last week for the headache clinic GP referred him to. Summer of 2025!
Doodle Oh you're having such hard work with these hospital wheelchairs ,I am so sorry for you. The car hoist can't come soon enough. You've probably already tried it , but does it help at all to pull him backwards? Now I've said it ,sounds silly -think I've seen it done but don't make it worse for yourself. Hope your DH's feet are improving a little. You're both having so much to deal with. Seems trite to say 'This too will pass' but I sincerely wish it to be true for you. Another hug coming your way.
Nadateturbe Hope you and your DH are feeling better. It's so good to see your sons isn't it? Good that your DH can take over the chat too and 'rescue' you when needed! I've not seen my eldest since New years eve either. I think it's special to see them alone , just sometimes, as the chat seems more intimate somehow, though I love them all together too.

Nadateturbe How nice that you got a visit from your son after all these weeks. I expect you had a lot of catching up to do. There's nobody to complain to about the long journey to school, so DIL is just going to keep taking her daughter. My Son1 had a DVT when he was 20 (never smoked, hadn't been on a flight or been overweight) and was in hospital for several days, on Heparin and Warfarin.

ScaredyCat It's my younger son whose birthday it is. Son1's will be in July. My nephew seems ok, thanks. Your walk sounds lovely. Have you got a nice local park ?

SweetpeaSue DIL's girl was 5th on a waiting list, and the school said they couldn't guarantee a place this year! DIL complained to the education authority, and they came up with this school place (it hasn't had very Ofsted good ratings), but she hasn't been to school since mid-December, so DIL felt she should accept. Now, they've taken her off the list. You'll be glad when your DH sees the GO tomorrow. Headache clinic appointment more than a year away? . How's your tongue?

Day centre today. DH will drop me off, then he's going to Son2's to do a bit of tiling. Hope ALL BDers have a decent day x

HVDY It must have been such a shock when your son had the DVT at only 20. I understand that people can get these things when they are living a normal life too. I'm shocked that your DIL's girl has been taken off the list for her local school just because she's started schooling at the other one. I don't know anything at all about these things but it doesn't seem a fair way at all.
Thanks my tongue has healed where the biopsy was taken , I think, as I didn't see where it was taken from in the first place. It just doesn't feel right and is sore at that side . The white ulcerated bit has a delve like ridge with a white part on the other side. It's annoying as when I pronounce my S's it moves against side of molars and feels sore. I sound as if I'm lisping at times. It was only like a tiny ulcer and I didn't take much notice, thinking it was there because I was accidentally biting it but it must have been the other way round--I was biting it because it was there. By the time I took proper notice and looked at it in the mirror I was shocked at how it had grown and immediately booked Dentist appt. I had a bad feeling then and I still do but trying to get by the longest 2 weeks of my life. I have been through every scenario and its difficult not to be anxious.Thanks HVDY. X

Sweetpeasue not daft at all. In fact I did have to pull him backwards to get up the so called disabled ramp to the hospital. Whatever idiot thought a kerbstone an inch high at the top had never tried to get a wheelchair with a person in it over the step.
I’m absolutely shattered tonight. No other word for it. Left for the hospital at 9 this morning them I spent 3 hours sitting on those hard hospital chairs before the process of getting DH back in the car and off to our GP surgery for another appointment. Used their wheelchair this time. They also had a ramp and i could hardly get DH up the ramp it was so steep. A lovely chap in his 80s came to my assistance and we finally got him into the surgery. On the way out I couldn’t get the wheelchair over the metal bar for the door opening. This time I was fortunate in that a lovely young man asked if he could help. He pushed DH all the way back to the car for me. I could have kissed him. I can hardly keep my eyes open now. Glad your tongue is feeling better. The ridge may go down. I had a big raised strip of about 2 Inches when I had my pacemaker fitted but it’s flattened down with time.
HVdY it’s not fair your DILs daughter was taken off the list for her preferred place. How does she find her new school?

SweetpeaSue Yes, it was a worrying time when he had the DVT - 111 had diagnosed him with a pulled chest muscle, as that's where he first had the pain (he had a pulmonary embolism). DH's mum said she didn't know whether to buy Son a birthday present (it was not long before his 21st) "in case he's not with us". Moron. How long have you had the ulcer on your tongue? We had sausages. mash & veg, then treacle sponge & custard .

Doodle What a terrible torment for you with that wheelchair. Why are there all these ridges and kerbs everywhere there are ramps-it defeats the whole purpose of enabling the wheelchair access. I feel so sorry for you having to do all of this. Thank goodness there are the kind people to help. What an awful day for you. You will be worn out. I hope you haven't done yourself an injury. Going out has become such a mammoth task. Please tell me tomorrow is a quiet day for you both. Wishing you both a good night's rest.

First noticed a bit of an ulcer about 2 and half mths ago. Didn't really bother me much at the time but there's been so much other stuff to deal with.
DH ringing for appt tomorrow. Think he'll need to up the steroid dose again as neck/shoulder pain back too. Hope you're OK.

Doodle What a lot of hard work with the wheelchair. No wonder you're worn out. Nice that a couple of people helped you at the doctor's, though. Is that all your husband's appointments over with for a while? DIL's daughter is feeling lost at the new school (she doesn't know anyone but the school has had poor ratings too, for the last few years. I hope she'll soon make new friends, she's a lovely girl. Hope you and your husband have a restful night.

SweetPeaSue My MIL always said inappropriate things, she was tactless/stupid. It's easy for me to say, but try to have positive thoughts about your tongue. I hope your husband gets on alright tomorrow. My legs have been aching a lot and getting very warm (I've slept with them uncovered for the last few nights).

Got Chubby Chops for a while tomorrow - DIL has got grocery shopping and a few errands to do (Son at work), so it'll be nice for us. Hope ALL BDers have a good night's sleep x

How's everyone's day been? Baby Doll was here at 10.30, was happy as usual, enjoyed her lunch of cheesy pasta, then slept for 2 hours . DIL and her girl collected her at 4. She's settling in better at school, has made a couple of friends and is getting to know her way around the place (it's a huge school). I've bought a new ironing board (pink) and iron - my excitement for the week . Hope everyone's ok. x

Scaredycat to be honest I’m trying not to think about the pacemaker. I just hope it’s working well enough as there’s nothing I can do about it until DH has had his op and recovered a bit. I have moved my lead repair back twice now and it’s currently scheduled sometime in May.

Scaredycat Yes. Indeed! Summer2025! GP is writing to Rheumatologist he saw a couple of mths ago and telling him about headaches. We also have a help number to ring which DH hadn't noticed was at the top of his last letter. Glad you got a walk in yesterday. Atrocious weather here for us. Mixture this morning and thin drizzle through some sunshine formed massive rainbow.
Doodle It's the simple things you can't do that you will miss and appreciate so much ore when you can do them. I hope it won't be long before you can both get out for a coffee together. Hope there's somewhere close that you can try out with your husband. You will need to know how far you are able to manage. Thank goodness you have the hoist fitted now. You must look after yourself too. So much has happened so quickly for you both.We are v lucky that the GP we see is now doing only F2F appts and have managed appts same day of ringing. So much easier when told an appt time too. Yes think headaches are related to the Polymyalgia. He's been told to up dosage of steroids again (which ups his BP so given extra BP med too.🙄).
HVDY Glad to hear your legs are a bit better. It must be awkward having to stick them out of bed on a night and so uncomfortable and painful for you. We had same weather as yourself yesterday. I had my bladder pain back on the morning but OK afternoon. Tongue not too bad just a bit sore where the 'lump' seems in way of teeth at side. Took out aunt this morning so she's a happy bunny.☺️
Nadateturbe How are you? Hoping you are not suffering too much with pains from the ME. and are managing to sleep OK. Its miserable being awake at night with your own thoughts. I asked GP for some Diazapam ,just over short term as I've been anxious lately about everything . Hope your DH is OK now too.
