Pain in side after fall

I fell last week off a little ladder trying to get the lights off my tree. I landed hard on my right side then banged my head etc. I was congratulating myself on how lucky I’ve been not to break anything but since then I’ve got worse each day. Went to A&E last Friday which was horrendous - 6/7 hrs in a full waiting room with most people coughing! I’ve not broken anything but I might have chipped a rib and I presume deep bruising. I do have visible bruising but not that much. It’s so tender, I can’t touch it, or lie on either side, can’t move much at all.

On top of that, we must have picked up COVID so now feel rotten, coughing a lot which makes my chest ache etc. We decided to cancel our little break to Portugal on Saturday as we couldnt face the travelling, never mind anything else! I must have jarred my bladder and bowel on impact as I’m having trouble with them as well.

I wait every day for a little improvement but just feel worse each day! Has anyone any advice or is it just sit tight? I never knew I could sleep so much!

Sorry to hear your feeling unwell.
Try hugging a pillow when you cough, it does help with the pain.
Have you tried several kiwi fruit with the skins on and lots of water.
It might help 🤞

Sennakot for me too as advised by a very pleasant doctor performing a colonoscopy to check what was going on in there. I find the branded Sennakot is more effective for me than the generic brands.

I do know how painful constipation can be, hope it eases soon. Try not to worry, being worried and physically tense truly won’t help the process. Massaging the stomach and a hot water bottle can also help in my experience

Gwyllt, e-consult doesn’t work that way in our surgery. It is made plain it is for routine requests only. Urgent requests must be by phone at any time in opening hours and are responded to that day. Each e-consult is triaged and a response received in 72 hours. I imagine usage varies across the country no matter what the developers intended.

Dollymixtures when my husband had chemo he got very constipated. Our McMillan nurse told me to get can't remember what they where called but they where a soft suppositories. I know it's nice to use them but once put in my husband went within 30 mins. He died 20 years next month that's why I can't remember the name plus my doddy memory.
