UTI - proteus not ecoli

Hello - I’m on 2nd lot of antibiotics for a horrible UTI.
GP sent sample off to lab and it’s come back as proteus bacteria. I know that the majority of utis are ecoli and I just wondered if anyone had the same and managed to get rid of it? Everything I’ve read seeks to suggest that it’s more difficult to clear than ecoli.

I used to suffer badly with UTI infections, I took course after course of antibiotics.
Eventually I decided enough was enough, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I had a course of acupuncture to stimulate my spleen to fight infection and took d mannose tablets, I took 3 tablets a day when I had an infection and only 1 a day as prevention.
These are available as a supplement online.
Here’s a link.

Sago
I found all d mannose is not created equal.
Husband bought me some off net It was in a capsule so opened it up and it floated on warm water couldn’t get it to dissolve goodness knows what it was ❓❓

Mannose is not metabolized by the body. It is absorbed whole and excreted in urine where it prevents or at least decreases bacteria latching on to the bladder lining.

Mumofmadboys
Thanks I know the principle but I believe the product purchase was not infact d mannose Goodness knows what it was almost like talcum powder
The moral of the story is always buy from reliable site

Thank you everyone for the messages - sorry for the late reply - I couldn’t find the thread again confused
I’ve read a lot about DMannose and tried some for a few days but I’ve since found out that it is only effective against ecoli infections and mine is proteus infection. Apparently ecoli responsible for at least 95% of uti’s - just frustrating that mine is not this.
I’m on the last couple of days of second course of ABs. The pain has definitely reduced but it still doesn’t ‘feel right.’
I’m also a bit nervous because when I finished the last lot of ABs within a few days the infection was back and even worse. Anyway I guess I’ve just got to wait and see.
I used to get UTIs in my 20’s but never as bad as this one has been.

@gwyllt thank you so much for talking the time to look up about thyme oil. Really appreciated.
