For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

ScaredyCat How's your DH now? Was his thyroid removed? My DH wasn't bothered yesterday - he's always rather laid-back with everything. He's a good cook. I get flustered with a lot of different components of dinners with different timings. Chubby Chops had a sleep, but I didn't - DH's snoring was too much grin. Had a long, but good, day with her (until 5.30). DIL had a procedure (general anaesthetic due to her health phobias) to correct astigmatism in both eyes. How's your day been? Has the weather been ok where you are? It was beautiful here yesterday but has rained a lot since 1pm here (still raining).

How's everyone been? x

Scaredycat Fri 03-May-24 17:48:03

SweetPeaSue- yes you went to Book Club when I bet it would have been easy to not go well done- great thinking and a hint of confidence returning.
It’s such a shame you are losing so many lovely plants. When we replaced our fence we took our neighbours into consideration- they were well happy with ‘their’ new fence!!
Solanum is so beautiful - we saw one for the first time the other day . New beginnings though- another positive thought.👍
Hope ECG went well for your DH and glad he’s agreed to seeing “your” GP next week.
HVDY- you couldn’t make it up about the confusion re your DH thyroid appt. My DH had Thyroid Cancer about 20 years ago and the last few checkups for his neck have been by phone😩 How great of him to cook you all a roast when he must have felt really cheesed off.
Hope your day has gone well ,that was an early start.Hope you and Chubby Chops managed a snuggly nap.
You need those Lazy Days- you have many hectic ones.
Doodle - thinking of you both and hope you are managing to eat and sleep as well as possible to keep yourself strong.
Nadateturbe- lack of energy is so frustrating- you do manage your time very sensibly though. Must try the yoghurt and jam combo on scones- do you use Greek yoghurt?
Wyllow- so glad you have been out in the air and sunshine- I hope it felt good to you. Even a few tears will have done you good and hope it helped release some tension.
I wish so much you could get the support you so need and deserve. Sending a hug.
EllieAnne,Candy,Whiff,Nanny,Allsorts and all have a restful evening

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 03-May-24 06:31:37

Wyllow3 Well done on getting out for a walk. I hope you get the extra support you need. Best wishes.

nadateturbe Quite a few of my days are lazy. I don't like not doing things, but often either don't have the energy, or can't be bothered - I wasn't like that before my stroke, but life has changed. I'd never have thought of having yoghurt on scones, but I bet it's tasty.

Doole You must be shattered. Hope you slept ok.

It's an early start - I've had a shower and got dressed, will be at Son2's for 7.45 to pick up baby and take her sister to school. (might have a doze when she has her nap later). Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day x

nadateturbe Thu 02-May-24 23:02:27

Thank you Wyllow3. I'm glad you got out for a walk in the sun.. I hope you get the support you want and need soon. Sending hugs. xx

Thanks for letting us know Doodle. You are both very much in my prayers. Sending love xx

Goodnight to all on BD. Hope it's peaceful for you. xx

Wyllow3 Thu 02-May-24 22:45:30

thinking of you Doodle yet another night in a hotel.

A lot about appointments and waits (and encouraging DH's to go Sweetpeasue and HVDY five veg - very impressed...). A lot of work there Sweetpeasue and well done on scones nadateturbe

I saw my worker today and a park walk, managed to cry a bit, need more support really and talk of agencies but I just dont know - still stuck in black hole most of the time

Best wishes for all other BD's not in today

night night dear all xx

nadateturbe Thu 02-May-24 22:12:27

That sounds like a plan Sweetpeasue.
Don't completely zone out when baking but ikwym. It's a nice distraction and creative.
* HVDY* delicious dinner. Don't remember last time I had a dinner like that. Your husband is a wonderful cook.
I'll have jam and yogurt on my scones, sounds strange but it's lovely.
I do alternate days active/rest. A pain in the butt but needs must. If I overdo it, its 2 rest days. I didn't realise you have lazy days, they never sound lazy to me!

Doodle Thu 02-May-24 21:46:20

Sorry just got into hotel, things much the same, thanks for all your good wishes xx

Sweetpeasue Thu 02-May-24 21:28:03

Nadateturbe I enjoy baking too. It feels very relaxing as I sort of zone out to the procedure. Iykwim.
Talking toy DH tonight I have persuaded him to see 'our' GP again(he's there Monday) and am going to really push for an urgent appt for a biopsy of temple. I'm sure that a GP can refer straight to hospital if necessary. I'm convinced it's Temporal Arteritis. If it is he could be in danger of a stroke the longer it goes on. I'd be devastated if anything happens and I could have avoided it. If I'm wrong, I don't care looking a fool.
Making appt Monday.
Hope Countdown was good. x

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 02-May-24 21:21:01

SweetpeaSue, No, the blood tests were a whole range of things they tested me for a year ago (cholesterol, Diabetes, Ferratin, liver function, thyroid. 12 things). I suppose all these medical things are good for checking up on us, but as you say, it's all waiting and wondering what will happen. Your husband might be better off seeing a different GP - fresh eyes etc. I never see the same one twice, I just go with who is available. They've all got access to my records. Your plants sound very nice. Have you got a big garden? Our back garden is long but mostly lawn and patio, with some shrubs down the side.

nadateturbe DH cooked a lovely roast beef dinner - roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and 5 veg. I'm glad we've got a dishwasher! Your scones sound delicious. Will you have cream and jam on them? I find I haven't got a lot of energy, either. If/when we have a busy day (like tomorrow with baby), we have a lazy day the day after. Do you do the same?

Doodle Hope today has been better for you and your husband.

Wyllow3, Whiff, EllieAnne, ScaredyCat, Candy6, Nanny2507, *Allsorts and ALL BDers - hope you have a restful night x

nadateturbe Thu 02-May-24 20:37:51

Sweetpeasue maybe if you can't get your GP to do what you want it might be time to try someone else, but it seems like you've got used to him. Can you maybe explain to him how you feel?
Your garden sounds lovely. I had to look up your plants, I'm not really a gardener, easy shrubs and mostly geraniums for me. The geum looks really nice, what a shame to lose it, but new beginnings is a good way to look at it.
Off to Countdown.....

nadateturbe Thu 02-May-24 20:30:16

HVDY it seems like all you do is wait! Very frustrating. I hate when the GP has a report and you don't understand it. "Expected" needs explained, as does the reason for DH not getting his needle biopsy. Left hand doesn't seem to know what right hand is doing. Here's hoping he gets some results soon. It's good he's well enough to cook. Dinner sounds lovely.
I'm kind of getting through day to day at the minute. I never have much energy but I can'tsolve it.. Think it's got to me a bit, thank goodness for the sunshine.
I actually made some cherry scones today the kitchen looked like a bomb had hit it. 😁 But I enjoy baking. Even doing that used about half my available energy for the day.
Still, as Scaredycat said, I've lots to be grateful for.
Going to watch Countdown now.
Thinking of you Doodle.
Hope everyone else is OK.

Sweetpeasue Thu 02-May-24 18:47:03

HVDY Oh I hope your DH doesn't have to wait too long for the CT scan especially if results may require an op. The 23rd seems a long time to wait for GP to get back to you. Were the blood tests because of the lung damage caused by Covid? Sorry of I've got it wrong.
When I first explained my concerns about it being Temporal Arteritis, GP said no it usually affects 1 temple but on NHS website I noticed it says both. He's a really nice Dr but he's dragging his heels with all this and DH is now thinking of going to a different one. This GP has seen us through all the happenings over last few yrs, which is why we've stuck with him.

Nadateturbe The fence will be in slightly different alignment so my climbers will have to go. I'm hoping the workmen can work around my Choisyia and Geum. The Solanum climber has flowers like those on potatoes plants as it is from that family but it looks like a bit like a Wisteria in the sun. Mind it has got a bit top heavy now. It's such a shame. Ah well- new beginnings!
I'm really worried about it taking all this time with DH. We've been umpteen times and I had to cajole him the last time. How are you feeling lately?

DoodleScaredycat**EllieAnne**Candy**Whiff**Allsorts**Nanny and of course Wyllow Hope your day has been OK.

nadateturbe Thu 02-May-24 17:48:39

Sweetpeasue what a shame, losing all your plants and all the work involved too.
Poor DH suffering so long. As HVDY says, why don't doctors listen. I hope they go through the other possibilities quickly.

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 02-May-24 17:00:21

nadateturbe Oh, I see. Thanks for telling me. How are you today?

SweetpeaSue It was the other hospital (there are 2 in Nottingham) that requested the needle biopsy of some nodules on DH's thyroid. They're going to arrange a CT scan (how long will that be?) and said he might need an operation. Your husband's symptoms do appear to fit with Temporal Arteritis. Why don't doctors take notice? I got a text from my GP, he will ring me on 23rd to discuss medication and blood test results (I've looked at the results today on NHS app - all 12 of them say "abnormal but expected", whatever that means. Will your climbing rose grow back ok?

Sweetpeasue Thu 02-May-24 15:52:11

HVDY Overcast and been misty here.
A palaver indeed trying to park at hospitals-ridiculous for people who aren't well. Communication with hospital appts has become almost common now -I don't understand it. Will you need to tell the GP that he hasn't had the needle biopsy if it was meant to be important requirement? Oh honestly! My DH not right at all and to think these headaches have been going on now for at least 4 mths and getting worse. It seems like they go through a whole series of minor things before they get to the cause. I can't help but think it's Temporal Arteritis as he's also complained of all the scalp being tender as well as the headaches.

Just been cutting down the many branches of our lovely climbing rose and will need to start on the other climbing plants now. 🫣🥹

Bumping to get rid of spam posts HVDY

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 02-May-24 14:48:37

SweetpeaSue At least you managed part of your session. It's nice weather for gardening (it's very sunny and warm here, though windy). Hope all goes well with your husband's ecg later. My DH went to hospital today (it was a palaver to park, took me 30mins), he had the ultrasound on his thyroid - he's got nodules on it, apparently -but they didn't do the fine needle biopsy as stated in the hospital letter. "Someone doesn't know what they're talking about, we don't do that", he was told! He's cooking a roast dinner later, Son1 and his family coming round for that.

Hope ALL BDers manage to see a bit of sunshine today. x

Incidentally, what's with all the "bump"??

Sweetpeasue Thu 02-May-24 12:46:06

Wyllow Hope the things that are troubling you are things that will pass. 💐 x
Nadateturbe Thankyou
Doodle Thinking of you and DH and hoping he's a little better today. X

Just had toasties in Costa and now off to garden centre for compost.
Neighbours changing fence next week and I'll lose my climbing roses and Jasmine, Solanum. All well established and just beginning to flower. Have to help DH dig them out(not digging but filling sacks). Ah well.

Hope everyone. OK today.

Goodnight. thoughts as ever with all

More thoughts Doodle again.

Not good at all due to various things but good to be able to come in. See you all tomorrow xxx

nadateturbe Wed 01-May-24 22:57:31

Yes, you made it for part of the session Sweetpeasue. Well done. Hope ECG throws some light on your husbands health issues.
Goodnight everyone, hoping it is peaceful, thinking of Doodle.xx

Sweetpeasue Wed 01-May-24 22:09:41

Scaredycat You were spot on in your words to me, and quite right for me to focus on the beauty of life I felt on our holiday. Thankyou for those words. Everything you said was quite right about some of my past feelings creeping in.

Can't write to everyone today.
Went to my book group but had to come out after half session -but at least I went, right?
Concerned for my DH's headaches and dizziness which continues. He has ECG tomorrow night so maybe that will be helpful.

Doodle I and everyone here are sending our thoughts , wishes and prayers for a marked improvement in your DH and sending love to you to keep you strong. 💐

nadateturbe Wed 01-May-24 21:33:41

Scaredycat what a nice post to Sweetpeasue. We do often lose confidence with age. And it's also true that some of us have so much to be thankful for. And when we go for walks can appreciate the beauty of nature all around us.
Sweetpeasue hope you are both OK. xx
Whiff thinking of you and everyone else on BD.
Hope you are all having as good an evening as possible. x
Doodle xx
