We all know we should eat more veg, less meat, no processed food, less dairy, cut out alcohol... but it's no fun is it?
What would you REALLY like to eat if all foods were equally healthy.
My breakfast would be: white toast with oodles of butter and strawberry jam. Cup of tea.
Mid-morning: coffee and a cheese scone or shortbread. Perhaps a glass of sherry.
Lunch: Salad with lots of mayonnaise, thickly sliced ham and a French stick.
Afternoon: Scones with clotted cream and golden syrup plus a slice of Victoria sponge.
Evening meal: A nice roast with loads of potatoes, veg and Yorkshires. Pudding would be cheesecake with yet more cream.
Evening snack: Pringles or cheesy cheddars with chunks of cheese washed down with a good wine or port. Bar of chocolate.
Lovely jubbly.
If only .........

I would live on chocolate, ice cream, clotted cream, biscuits, cakes, malted seeded loaves and fish. However, I have to eat wholemeal bread along with a low fat and low sugar diet to control my diabetes.

The wistful dreams of a late-converted vegetarian:
Breakfast: fried eggs, black pudding, sausages (all from high welfare sources) served in a garden with comfortable garden chairs.
Mid morning: shortbread and coffee
Lunch: caesar salad
Before supper: olives and champagne
Supper: shepherds pie with tenderstem broccoli, followed by an old-fashioned trifle and then stilton with miller’s damsel crackers.
I could replicate all this in a veggie way, except for the eggs and Stilton. Either way I’d have terrible indigestion by bedtime!

Poached eggs on brown toast with bacon, mushrooms and black pudding and lots of tea for breakfast. Lunch would be a fresh crab or lobster roll with a glass of sauvignon blanc. For dinner something light like a piece of halibut with asparagus and tomatoes, more wine , blackcurrant pie with cream and then strong black coffee with a florentine or two to finish.
As for real life; shredded wheat for b'fast, won't bother with lunch and salad with leftovers for dinner.

Good quality muesli with sliced banana, sugar and full fat milk, followed by very thick sliced toast with lurpak and shredless marmalade. Loads of strong milky coffee.
Homemade chicken and ham pie with chips for lunch.
Toad in the hole for dinner with plenty of rough cider. 🤪
My jeans feel tight already!!

Oysters, chocolate, rich fatty cheese with salty cheese biscuits all washed down with a good Pinot gris.Might have a few raspberries with lovely English clotted cream.

Proper Scots Porridge made the way my DGM made it! 2 mugs of strong hot tea! Lunch would be two toasted cheese & tomato sandwiches with more mugs of hot strong tea. Dinner would be Quorn Shepherds Pie with loads of cheese topping.More hot strong tea too! Supper would be several custard cream biscuits with another mug of hot strong tea. If I could have all that great as not supposed to eat a lot of those things & certainly not so much strong hot tea that I have been addicted too for too long!

Oohhh...
Against normally reading each post, have scrolled past quickly. Rude? Well not really but am in my third week of having no teeth and waiting for the process of healing and new gnashers being manufactured to end, I've been on a very limited intake, neither appetising or healthy, and am having to avoid thoughts of loverly grub or I'll go mad.
Just wait till I've broken in the new chompers, then I'll be returning to see what naughty but nice yummy stuff others are mentally enjoying and save you all from having to actually eat it 😂
You'll thank me later!

Tate and Lyles Golden Syrup on white bread with butter!!! I can remember how much I loved this when I was a child and I cannot have a tin in the house now because I, literally, would eat it at every meal!

I'm onto day two of the "anything goes" menu.

Toast and peanut butter for breakfast, followed by a lovely fluffy jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw for lunch.

Toast and beef dripping to tide me over until dinner tonight, which is yet to be decided.

Oh goodness... my mouth is watering. Some suggestions here are about things I'd forgotten about. Eggy bread..yum. Raspberry trifle - now you're talking. Amazing how many different suggestions on here - realistically (sadly) most of us probably don't have much of any of them. Why is it that most of the fun stuff isn't good for us!

Maggymay Fri 05-Apr-24 14:40:34

Breakfast porridge made with full fat milk
Lunch Eggy bread followed by a large slice of coffee and walnut cake.
Dinner Fish and chips followed by apple crumble with custard or a raspberry trifle.
Later on sat in front of the TV a large bar of hazelnut chocolate.

I am usually a very healthy eater but my day of foodie dreams would be -

Breakfast - Cheese on toast
Lunch - Walkers cheese and onion crisps sandwich on white bread and butter
Dinner - Chip shop fish and chips with more white bread and butter
A late snack of French brie or camembert with a baguette
A few glasses of cold Pinot Grigio

About 10:30am 2 proper, fresh croissants with good blackcurrant jam.
2’ish, a chunky slice of cheddar cheese on toast with Worcestershire sauce.
7:30, lambs liver, onions and bacon with mash, sprouts and carrots.

Redrobin51 Thu 04-Apr-24 21:27:15

My perfect day would be
Breakfast A small bowl of grapefruit and a small bowl of porridge made with cream and a mug of tea with full fat milk
Midday Cheese crackers topped with some lovely cheese, a platter of mixed fruit eg clementines, pineapple, melon, cherries. A yoghurt with blueberries mixed in and a glass of fresh juice to wash it down
Dinner full roast preferably Lamb with roast potatoes and parsnips, sprouts and cabbage with Yorkies, thick gray and hone made mint sauce followed by Lemon Meringue pie. Yummy.
What a great thread.x

Toblerone and a large glass of Gerwerztraminer (could be wrong spelling). I haven’t eaten chocolate for 7 months 😏.

Grannybags Thu 04-Apr-24 20:13:47

Cheese, cheese and more cheese!

flappergirl Thu 04-Apr-24 19:48:34

For breakfast I would have 2 soft boiled Buford Brown eggs with thick white toast and even thicker French unpasteurised butter. Preceded by some tinned grapefruit.

Lunch would be a fresh crab sandwich (both white & brown meat) with some little gem lettuce, vine tomatoes and the best quality mayonnaise.

Tea would be a rib eye steak cooked medium rare with a baked potato topped with lashings of butter and soured cream & chives and a green salad with lots of vinaigrette dressing. This is washed down with a bottle of Merlot (all for me).

I'm not much of a pudding eater so I'd probably go for a sumptuous artisan cheese board with quince jelly and Cotton Candy grapes and a good dessert wine.

For something sweet I would choose a dessert cocktail ideally involving dark rum and coconut cream.

Then I'd be sick.

merlotgran Thu 04-Apr-24 19:46:53

My perfect day would be two mugs of tea followed by porridge made with oat milk, Greek yoghurt and blueberries.
Lunch would be a spicy Mediterranean vegetable soup with expensive gf bread because the cheaper stuff is awful.
Dinner would be Chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice - no Naan bread.
No snacks but I’m partial to a 🍷now and again with a small bar of salted caramel chocolate.

MissAdventure Thu 04-Apr-24 19:23:28

grin

valdavi Thu 04-Apr-24 19:22:33

Homemade cake & hot chocolate for breakfast
Takeaway Nando's / up-market burger /kebab with salad & full fat mayo for lunch
Fish & chips & mushy peas with a chocolate brownie & cup of tea for dinner
Couple of gin & tonics or Pimms for supper - or cider with a bag of crisps & a pickled egg.

Casdon Thu 04-Apr-24 19:20:42

Breakfast - two strong coffees and a croissant (I’m not a fan of breakfast)
Lunch - fresh crab sandwich and an orange
Dinner - lamb passanda with all the trimmings followed by lemon posset - with wine, obviously.
Sadly only a dream as I’m gluten free and can’t tolerate much dairy - but the wine and coffee are definites.

MissAdventure Thu 04-Apr-24 19:09:35

Oops.
Missed my lunch out!

That would be cheese and tomatoes on toast.

MissAdventure Thu 04-Apr-24 19:08:44

A full fry up, followed by some toast and marmalade, with milky coffee.
Crisps to tide me over until dinner time, then a roast, with a chocolate nut sundae for dessert.
