My eye pressures are high and I have been booked in for an iridiotomy. Anyone had one and was it successful fo keeping eye pressures down?

I had laser treatment to avoid me getting glaucoma by reducing pressure. The whole procedure only took about 15 minutes and I didn’t feel a thing. I’m not sure if this is the same as iridiotomy.

I have to go got a test for glaucoma next week
No idea what will happen if I have got it
Except maybe more drops
No idea what an iridiotomy is though

The laser makes a small hole in the iris which then allows the liquid in the eye to drain away. It takes about 15 minutes so sounds the same as you had Nankate. I have narrow angle glaucoma and cannot understand why I was not offered this several years ago. Hoping it will help now. I have been using drops for almost 20 years. Timoptol and now Ganfort.

Nankate did they do both eyes in the one appointment?

Was the laser treatment on NHS or did you have to go private

I had both eyes done at the same time. It cost £170 and in my opinion was well worth it.

I had laser surgery because my 'angles' were closing - I can cope with anything surgery wise apart from eyes but it was fine. Both eyes done at once and straight back to work afterwards.

Thank you Elless. Just what I wanted to hear.
My appt will be at our local NHS Eye hospital where I have been going for many years. Yes I agree surgery to eyes is not a pleasant thought.
