Does anyone have any tips on getting rid of facial hair in the 70’s. I am 72 and my face would be covered with a beard and moustache if I didn’t go and get it waxed off once per month. In between I usually have to tweezer some of the hairs off. I am fed up with it and just want to get rid of them permanently but with something that isn’t too expensive. Any ideas would be helpful. Also the waxing is £20 per time and I need to save some money. Thank you for reading.
I know it’s rather expensive but I use a Philips hand-held IPL machine. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’re much good on fair skin and blond, white or grey hair. So the darker you are the better as I think they target the melanin in the hair. I’m quite dark and was also quite hairy. They have a smaller attachment for the face and I use mine as and when I need to and it’s been great - no regrowth so far but I always keep an eye on it as nothing is forever. As a point of interest, my legs are now completely hair-free. I don’t know why I didn’t do this years ago!
Flawless finish for me! I used to spend ages plucking all the hairs from my chin. Now it’s such a quick job with this little device. I have to do it every day and have told my husband if ever I was in hospital, it is the first thing I’d be wanting!
I had threading at out local Super Drug. I normally tweezer my own hairs as they are not too abundant but to make sure for a particular family event, I paid for the service and it was quick and pleasant.
I've got a Braun Face razor, is it the same as the Flawless, I've always been careful using in as I'm afraid of getting a stubble. Do you get a stubble with the Flawless?
I tried my epilator on my chin & above my lip, not as bad as I thought pain wise, they haven’t come back any thicker 🙏 Did buy a waxing pot machine during covid but it made such a mess 😩

Its because the hairs grow back all at once, and the ends are blunt, where they've been chopped, rather than tapered, from what I have read online. So, no more hairs than there was, but all coming through at once.
I suppose the idea is to whisk them off very regularly?
Weirdly it doesn’t grow back stubbly - mine hasn’t done anyway. In fact, just the opposite; it seems to grow less. It seems much more gentle than shaving.
Hammacher Schlemmer sells an at home electrolysis set. I've had one for a few years and it helps. It's not permanent but a lot less plucking / "Flawless-ing" needed. I check every few weeks and do a little here and there. No needles!
A beautician I use to go to told me waxing and threading actually encouraged growth so I stopped having it done. Now I just use a facial hair removing cream, it seems to last a bit longer and I use tweezers in between. Facial elapidators don’t seem to work well on light or white hairs so would be waste of money. The only permanent way is by laser treatment.
Either I need to go to Specsavers or I am lucky in that I do not seem to suffer from this problem. Not even by a hair on my chinny chin chin. Something to be grateful for!
