Agree about the low temperature washes that keep being recommended - just use your nose, if it still smells of armpits, or last nights dinner- then it’s not clean!
Scabies is still prevalent in care settings and hospitals. I worked in a hospital where frequently, older or vulnerable people who had neglected themselves (or been neglected) were admitted. The sister would dole out bottles of the treatment lotion to any staff as a precautionary measure.
Also the younger health workers (including GPs) seem to have zero common knowledge about scabies.
The much lauded local pharmacist also did not recognise it either and I suspect they are afraid to suggest it because of the Victorian stigma associated and people being ashamed.
Head lice, worms, impetigo, STDs and thrush and cystitis are all out in the open now and ads for treatment for them are in chemists shops and on tv. Why not for Scabies.?
