It's Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. DH and I have had a flu type virus and this is an after effect.

I agree 111 is a really efficient adjunct of the NHS. Just remember though that 111 personal are not perfect and may be mistaken as to the best treatment for you as an individual. There can be miscommunication between 111 , ambulance , A and E, the patient, and other departments.

I keep brief printed copies of relevant information concerning my personal medical history which may not be read by hospital care givers or even by doctors. I have these handy in case 111 recommend I be taken to A and E.

If it doesn't go on its own kitty the GP can do the Epley manoeuvre which helps. I had this done and it went immediately. She also gave me exercises to do at home. Sorry to hear you are still feeling under the weather.

Yes they are brilliant. When my husband was taken to A&E in May with a horrible virus, every single person we saw was wonderful.

She gave me exercises too. She was very thorough.

Recently I tried unsuccessfully to cope with a severe pain I was experiencing. A Friday afternoon at 1430 I called my local health centre. As per her promise, the lady rang me back and said a nurse would squeeze me in if I could be there at 1500. Duly complied and I was taken immediately from there to local general hospital where I had major surgery on the Saturday at 1100. I'm currently in recovery but all my negative thoughts have been reversed since I experienced reality rather than news hype etc. Rather suspect my life was saved five weeks ago.

I called 111 at 8 am as I was feeling really dizzy and unsteady on my feet. An hour later I had a phone call telling that a medic would be with me within 2 hours. She has just left.

Apparently I have BPPV and it will go of it's own accord sooner or later.

I am extremely impressed.

I’ve had BPPV for several years. Have had the Epley manoeuvre several times with various degrees of success. I have been on the waiting list to see a Consultant for several months now.

It’s nothing to worry about but is not pleasant. Every night I get into bed, close my eyes and feel like I’m on a merry go round.

Primrose that sounds horrid. Mine is, currently, awful when I get out of bed to go to the loo. I can't read very well either.

Oh, I've had that, Kitty. It came over me one day in the kitchen and I honestly thought I was dying. As you can tell, I was wrong. I had to crawl through to the sitting room to collapse on the sofa. Foolishly, the next day, thinking I was OK, I decided to drive to the shops. After 200 yards, I had to turn around and, very cautiously, get myself home. So do be careful, Kitty. I understand you can learn the Epley manoeuvre on Youtube, but never tried it on myself.
