ScaredyCat How wonderful that so many people went to the funeral. All those motorbikes must have been such a sight to behold. My husband had motorbikes before we got married, and he'd love that (although we aren't having funerals).

SweetpeaSue I think the fact that your husband was seen today is a sign that the hospital is now actually going to sort him out. Hopefully, he won't be waiting long to see the Neurologist. I think this will all mean that at last, things are moving, and the correct treatment will be given. I hope you'll be able to go to the cottage for a break. I remember you posting photos of the lambs last year.

Day centre was good, although I didn't like the meal - faggots, which I left - This pain feels like the torn cartiledge, so I'll try to rest this w/e. Got LittleGirl here until 10.30 - she came at 5 so we went for a pub meal (I had a snack), and she was good as gold, as always. Hope everyone has a peaceful night x

Well going to have a walk with DH in a little while- I feel so tired but the sun is out and I don’t know how long I,ll be able to keep walking like this. We are feeding DD cats at teatime as they are out in London so it,ll be the game of keeping greedy guts away from the genteel eater again!! Never a dull minute!

ScaredyCat It's funny how some cats are greedy and others aren't. The 2 cats at Son2's are different - the female is very greedy but it's the male who is enormous (he's about 17lbs).

Sweetpeasue it does sound as though your husbands condition is being taken more seriously at last. Hope he gets that appointment with the neurologist soon.
Al that waiting around in hospitals is so tiring. I hope you sleep better tonight. All this worrying is probably keeping you awake. Those inflammatory markers in my DH’s case were always far too high. They gave him antibiotics to bring them down.

HVDY thank you. I had a lovely meal yesterday and again today. I always have ice-cream for pudding as I can’t manage anything else. My cousin is female and she met me with her family. It was very nice.
Windsor was lovely and really sunny this afternoon. I made the mistake of going into M&S while I was there and they started playing Leo Sayer “When I need you” over the speakers. It really upset me and I had to leave the shop. Not been right since really.

Doodle I'm glad you had a nice time. I understand what you mean about certain songs making you emotional. It's different, I know, but for many years (30 probably), I couldn't bear to listen to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody as my brother bought that record and was killed in an RTA that night. The torn cartilage I had in my left hip last year took about 9 months to get right. It was physiotherapy, rest and painkillers. I don't want to go through that again. I'm glad your son is back. I think as mums, we worry when our AC are away from home, no matter how grown-up they are. Our Son2 went to Vietnam for a month (before he met DIL), didn't respond to any texts for 3 weeks (I was frantic with worry). It turned out he'd lost his mobile. I was so glad when he got home.

DH is out with Son1 at a beer festival (real ale thing) in town, so I've got the house to myself. x

HVDY Oh you are suffering so much lately with the wheezing , cough and now your hip/ groin - I just hope you're wrong and it's not a torn cartilage- it will be difficult for you to bend and so difficult looking after Littlegirl, which you do so well. You lost your poor DB far too early in life, that must have been truly dreadful . You try your best with your other DB too. I can understand about the Bohemian Rhapsody record- that's so sad.
EllieAnne I hope your bladder is feeling better. Perhaps it wasn't an infection but always best to get something like that sorted. I'm the same about seeing a woman GP about personal matters. Kind words about treating yourself from HVDY- I'd second that.
Scaredycat Hope you managed your walk yesterday. It's annoying when we think back on the walks we used to do but we shouldn't compare really . You are so good on getting out and about. We had a small walk along a river with Fluffball on Thursday and it was quiet and pleasant though Fluffball was wanting to be off lead to chase the ducks! DH loves Labradors. Son had a beautiful one that we'd help care for at times. We loved him so much though the moulting of his coat was a major problem.
Doodle Glad you saw a friend the other day . You are trying so hard to make a life for yourself and it must be so hard. The Leo Sayer song has such emotional words in it and I'm so sorry they were so painful - I'd have felt the same I'm sure. I can't bear the thought of losing my DH but thoughts keep creeping up on me now and I'm feeling very old indeed. Sending you a gentle hug for your hurt.

Took aunt out this morning. Had a few tears when we got back as tired of being tired, just as DH is.
DH sanded down sides of stairs ( took carpet up last week) when we got back.
I don't think Rheumatologist is right over second thoughts about DH's GCA . I've read that inflammation levels in some cases , though uncommon, can happen. I'm just going to have to go with it and see what happens. It's possible the MRI scan on brain might pick up inflammation of arteries ( GCA) though because DH taking steroids may not. Good they're investigating though. Rheumatologist gave DH such a lot of time with the ultrasound the other day- were in his office an hr and 15mins so he's doing his best and I'm grateful for that.

We walked today and met GD1 and GGS for coffee then Covid jab at surgery. Had a lovely chat about The Tudors with GGS - he is interested in everything.
Walking alone is not pointless . It’s out in the air,saying hello,patting dogs,seeing the flowers and the skies. I walk alone a lot when DH is at Gym or golf . But you did so well to get out 👏👏👏👏
SweetPeaSue- You’re right it’s no good looking back at what we could do but just keep doing what we can now. I,m glad I did so much walking and sport when I was young.
Bet your Aunt was pleased to see you and have a trip out. How is she mentally now?
Being tired makes you feel old doesn’t it but as long as you stay young at heart if possible it,ll help.
Your mind is so full of so many “what ifs” its worn out. The Rheumatologist sounds as if he is being very thorough and doing as much as he can- - positive thoughts for the investigations.

SweetpeaSue I also typed a long post then lost it! The cartilage problem I had (and think have got again) is known as a labral tear. I'm resting as much as possible at the moment. Since using the steroid inhaler, I haven't wheezed once! The cough is barely there now. It only took seeing 4 GPs, 2 nurses, 3 lots of Prednisolone, 3 lots of antibiotics and 4 months to get right! I bet your aunt loves seeing you both and is gratefulto be taken out. Fluffball had a good time, by the sound of it. What a happy little dog. I can understand you being fed-up. Try to rest (and get your DH to) when you can.

ScaredyCat I didn't realise Covid jabs were still being given. Nice that you met your granddaughter and her son. Like us, you're lucky to have family nearby. Is your GGS learning about The Tudors?

It's been a lovely, sunny day. Between sitting outside and indoors (it's cold in our living room but the garden is South-facing), I did a bit of housework but not much else. Hope everyone's been ok x

HVDY Thanks I've done quite a bit of resting today. So glad your new inhaler is working and you're not wheezing. Odd isn't it, how long it takes to get the right diagnosis and how many medical professionals it takes. Glad you got there in the end though.

Thanks ,my aunt does like to get out and seems the same mentally so I'm hoping the deteriorating memory hasn't got worse though she still can't remember much ,if at all, of recent days and even weeks or months. x

I’ve been out with another friend today. Went to a garden centre for lunch. I don’t think I’ve ever visited so many garden centres before…..and I don’t even have a garden. It’s just nice to get out somewhere.

I’ve been out again today with a friend. I do keep myself very busy I expect that’s why I’m so tired. Maybe over time I won’t need to do so much but at the moment it helps. It was a beautiful day at the garden centre and lovely views over the countryside.
Rum and Rasin was one of DH’s favourites too and mint choc chip. For me it’s chocolate or honeycomb.

Oh, how frustrating, HVDY, losing a long post….good to hear the wheezing is under control now. My it took an army of medics to get it right! Sounds like a good easy-going day for you.

I think Garden centres are often really nice, Doodle, there is a lot to look at (but not to have to plant out and have to look after) some are a bit overdone on the sales side with all sorts but the one nearest me has lovely views too.
I always think you just be very tired as you do a lot, but thats the best option for you at the moment.

My granddaughter is OK, Scaredycat she’s stable as regards the epilepsy (she’s on 5 meds a day including cannaboids) but still not walking. She is heavy that doesnt help, but I daren’t say maybe she might lose a bit of weight. I marvel at my son and DiL with her level of needs and how they cope….tho it will always mean I can't call on them really. They just have got 2 cats, black and white, the kids love them.

I didnt get out and really only partial tum relief. It’s bad in my head for a day like today. Pointless etc etc. It does make a little difference if I do get out but the struggle to make myself do it is immense.

Wishing as peaceful nights as possible for those in today and all other BD’s xx

Doodle Thanks. I go to garden centres with my friend, but we never look at plants, we just go in the cafe! Those places sell everything now - clothes, preserves, toys, jewellery, etc.

Wyllow3 I'm glad your GD is doing well at the moment. Does she go off for respite care? My nephew's girl (she's a twin) is severely disabled and goes to a special school but she also goes away for a week every so often. If you could sit outside for even a short time (in your dressing gown) every day, you'd benefit from Vitamin D and fresh air.

I think this Covid jab was for us ancient people and the vulnerable. I feel really rough today and my arm is sore but it’s better than Covid.
Yes my GGS is starting the Tudors - I think he is finding them as fascinating as we all do. He really listens as well as talking for England.

I think it’s lovely how you both take your Aunt out- if only more people made time for their elderly relatives the Doctors wouldn’t be so busy. The memory lapses seem to have sudden spurts don’t they - such a cruel thing for anyone to go through.

Doodle- I love Garden centres but I have no talent as a gardener. I do persevere but the little plants cringe when they see me coming.

The struggles you face every time you attempt an outing must be exhausting but as you have said the days of inactivity don’t help you either, You have a lot of courage to do what you do but now Summer is on its way perhaps you will be able to broaden your horizons if only a little.

Hello everyone. Lucyd here. I haven't posted in ages. Have been very busy with work and also not been feeling too well - migraines much worse and feeling nauseous. Eventually managed to see my GP so hopefully things will improve. Caravan so much better as we have had fabulous weather recently - it was 27 degrees inside when I arrived home from work today as it gets the sun all but it will drop overnight to around 5 or 6 degrees. Still, it is lovely to look out and see the sunshine. Lots more people around but still no one near me. My new house is slowly taking shape and I am going to pick my kitchen next week! Am hoping to move in sometime in August.

Dil is going back to work at end of month and I have volunteered (in a moment of madness!) to have the 7 month old as well as 2 and a half year old one day a week. It will only be till summer and then I will only have the baby. Will miss the older one as she is such a character but it will give me chance to get to know wee one. Not sure how I will manage two of them...

Am feeling more positive today as last night I went to the local theatre on my own ( my friend was poorly and couldn't go). I never go to anything on my own and was a bit concerned when I got there and the hall was set out in tables of 8 - I was going to have to talk to strangers when made me feel quite nervous. Anyway it was great and the lady who sat beside me was lovely.

You’re quite right, I am very tired. I’m up most days between 6.30 and 7. Often not in bed till 11 pm but as you say it suits me to be busy. Less time to think. There are certain thoughts that hover at the back of my mind. I am too afraid to concentrate on them for fear I wouldn’t recover so I keep busy and try to avoid them.
Your son and his wife are obviously devoted to their daughter. Hard for them all. I can see why you don’t want to call on them for help. I do wish you could get your tum sorted out, did the Movicol not help? Hope you can get out soon*

I've caught up but feel very low and physically under the weather to post long. Thank you for helpful comments and ideas. My granddaughter is not ill enough to need respite care, ie she can go to the toilet/no nappies nor lifting gear.

Yes it must be better in your caravan now the sun is her- although I expect it can get too warm sometimes. How will you decide what sort of kitchen to have? There must be so many lovely choices. August isn’t really so far away now is it.
You are in for some fun with the little ones- they will love being with you.
It was brave to go out alone but meeting somebody nice made all the nerves worthwhile. You won’t be so nervous next time.

My friend who lives close by has been feeding a stray and is going away this week so we’re taking over for her . He visits us every day and sits in my bird house so he can eat up there.

Your GD does well to do those things herself but it must be so tiring for her. Does she use a wheelchair?
Hope you’re pleased with your new glasses- I always feel so silly trying them on in front of the assistants
Specsavers do the ear ‘hoovering’ don’t they. Would it be possible to combine that with shopping one Monday? Hope though that your other ear is improving by now.
