For the support ,understanding and sharing of mental health issues. All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness

Scaredycat Mon 31-Mar-25 14:50:27

Hello all.
SweetPeaSue- thanks for the hug. They are always welcome - I love a hug.Pleased you had a nice dinner with your family on Saturday. What a lovely Son to remember and send a plant for you. They love their Mum.
Ah when you’re tired it’s easy to make mistakes but as HVDY says I can mess up a meal anytime!! I bet DH ate it anyway.
Hope the Wed appt helps ease your mind a bit.
HVDY- It must have felt so good when you finally got to bed. I,m sorry you feel so poorly - you,ve had so much lately.
Yes the tea was lovely and greedy guts cat didn’t shove his face in like he normally does!!
Doodle- I,m glad you had a lovely Mothers Day and were able to see both your lovely sons. New York is such a vibrant place - so much to see and do. They must have had lots to tell you.
We,re going to wait til Autumn to get furries . Once we,ve had our Hols then they can settle in better.
Hope your eyes are more comfortable and you had a peaceful sleep.
EllieAnne- Glad you saw your Sons yesterday too. Maybe your DD wanted to talk when you were on your own. Was she a quiet little girl?
Perhaps you’re right that she feels a bit detached from you all-
But maybe that’s how she likes it. But it’s sad for you to feel how solitary she is .
Good your bladder is settling a little but I would keep the appt if I was you.
Wyllow- good idea to have the “hoover job” if you are able. Hope the improvement in your hearing continues.
“a loving treat” what a nice thing to say. DD sent me home with a giant slice of cake for DH which went down a treat.
It would be great if you could have a chat and review with your Doc- yes it is a big leap for you but it might really help.
It’s so nice to hear you sound keen to do your walks and that seeing the garden tidier gives you some good feelings.
Not everything we do has to have a point- just to be able to enjoy the simple pleasures can be enough .
Have a good shopping trip tomorrow- how about some nice flowers to brighten your room?

Love to all hope the sun is shining on you all as it is herexx

Ellie Anne Mon 31-Mar-25 08:11:51

Had a message from dd about 10 last night. Said she didn’t phone because I might have family round. In a way I think she feels detached from us and doesn’t really feel part of the family but it was her choice to move away and she doesn’t make the effort to stay in contact.
Anyway I know she is still there and can’t change the situation.
Bladder problems are improving so I will make a decision tomorrow on whether to cancel or not.

Wyllow3 Mon 31-Mar-25 01:01:06

Correction - hearing slightly better, (above)

Wyllow3 Mon 31-Mar-25 01:00:29

A tiring day for you HVDY, not surprised you dont feel well. Great to have someone to sort out technology.

Its a very worrying time for you with DH, Sweetpeasue. I hope you are able to share these worries with the Rheumatologist even tho its not strictly his/her field? Lovely to see the family yesterday and have dinner. I'm not surpised you were tired today, tho.

It is sad, EllieAnne. I wish things could be a little better with her. Good to hear about the lunch. More gentle encouragement to see the GP.

Thank you for explaing about your memory condition, Doodle. It must have been strange when you realised you were "different". so sorry about the hayfever: you did well to see the family and hoping the antihistamine helps.

Scaredycat well I will book to get ears hoovered out unless its advised against. I think they do home visits. Haing ever so slightly better but its hard to bear.
My, DD did you proud with the "high tea", what a loving treat.

I did the washing and had a shower but am so tired. and life has little point and lonely but its not a lonlienss cured by people contact easily. Yes a lot of physical things maybe I can pluck up courage to see a doc and have an overall review, but of course she doesnt interfere with the MH meds side causng the weight gain and the tum probems

Hope I can do the walks this week with the worker tuesday and carer Wednesday.

I do still get a sense of relief looking at the garden and its tidy.

Night night all, best nights possible.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 30-Mar-25 20:43:44

SweetpeaSue Thanks. Son1 and his family came, bought me some lovely things, and he set up my new mobile. I've been faffing about with it grin. I had a little gift delivered to SGD. Nice that your son remembered you today and that you saw your other son and his family yesterday. That must have been lovely, after not seeing them for ages. I can mess up a meal even when I'm not tired. Will you go to bed earlier? I can hardly wait for bedtime, I don't feel well. Roll on Wednesday for your husband's appointment.

ScaredyCat That all sounds gorgeous. Your daughter was busy, making it all so nice. Glad you enjoyed it. I love anice afternoon tea. We've got a gift voucher for one, I need to book it some time.

Doodle I did Henry IV at school (a very long time ago) and loved it. Kids these days don't seem to learn anything like Shakespeare at school. Sorry your eyes are still so uncomfortable. I haven't heard of the type of memory problem you have. It must make things difficult at times. I'm glad you saw your boys today smile.

EllieAnne I'm glad you saw both sons and had lunch with one of them today. Was that at his place or at a pub? Your daughter isn't well, is she - try not to take it to heart. I think sons are usually closer to their mums than daughters. She'll contact you in time.

Hope all others have been ok today. x

Sweetpeasue Sun 30-Mar-25 19:34:30

Doodle I see now why its so important to you to have visual accounts of your memories. I've never heard of that condition but it must have been so stressful for you after your DH passed. Glad you saw your both sons. I saw son 1 yesterday and DIL and DGD. It was lovely - not seen them since Christmas. We went out for dinner before the drove back. Oh that rotten hay-fever and your poor eyes. Do hope the antihistamine will help.
EllieAnne Aw I'm really sorry you've not heard from your DD. I know how much you care and it would have meant so much to you. Rest assured , you're a good mum and your DD is just not wanting to worry you . She might just need some 'space' for a while. I'm glad you had a nice lunch with your son2 and little GC. That means a lot .
I hope you get some help from your GP though.

Son 2 still off shore working but texted me this morning and sent me a lovely Azalea plant. DH and I went for a coffee and been to B&Q this morning. I was so tired today felt could barely function and messed up a simple tea of a chicken salad with baked potato. 😩 Never mind.
Hoping all who are not in have had a decent day and tomorrow is another day. Wishing everyone a peaceful night.

Ellie Anne Sun 30-Mar-25 18:55:50

Saw son 1 yesterday at the dance show and had lunch today with s2 and little gs.
But nothing from dd. No card,no text no phone call.
Feel so sad.

Doodle Sun 30-Mar-25 18:23:31

Candy glad you’re having a good time at your caravan. Our son is home now. They had a great time in New York. I think they were on the go all the time and are really exhausted. Nice to see them happy though.
Hope you have a nice time at the pub.
HVDY your DIL’s daughter sounds a lovely girl. Your DIL must be so pleased you take such an interest in her. I think it’s lovely. I could never get to grips with Macbeth either.
You’re another who sounds really poorly. I’m sure the family visit will do you good as long as you don’t overdo it.
Scaredycat I’m sure when they finally arrive, two little cats will find a lovely safe home with you. Hope you don’t have to wait too long. I’ve had a lovely day and seen both our sons.
Hope you had a nice afternoon tea with your DD and DGd. I always enjoy an afternoon tea.
Wyllow you don’t sound well at all. I really think you should see a GP to check all these symptoms including your hearing. I know you’ve seen one but the rest of the symptoms need checking.
My mind doesn’t go blank exactly Wyllow it’s a condition I’ve had probably since birth although because of what it is I can’t remember that anyway. It’s impossible for me to recall things the way that others do. It took a long time for me to realise other people don’t have this problem. I think between 1 and 4 % of the world’s population have it.
Sweetpeasue do hope your Dh gets some positive input at his appointment on Wednesday. Don’t forget to write down any questions you have so you can ask them when you’re there. I always wrote down the answers too so I could remember later.
The appointments go by in such a whizz it’s difficult to remember everything.
Yes I actually sa both our sons today which was really nice. DS2 had a fabulous time in NY and it was nice to see them all so happy. My hayfever is bad again and my eyes get so sore. I’m going to have another antihistamine tonight so see if that helps.
Take care all. Ellie Anne I hope you’re not feeling too bad but please go and see the GP it is important to have these things checked.

Scaredycat Sun 30-Mar-25 18:17:02

Hi all
Wyllow- hope you feel a bit better today so you could have your shower and freshen up a bit. It always makes you feel better once it’s done. If I was you after your ears are back to normal I,d get the wax clearing done privately . It’s not too expensive. Then if you need it you can have a hearing test at boots or elsewhere.
I had a lovely afternoon at DD with GD3 and feel well stuffed now.🫢Having a bit of feet up and watching the end of footie with DH.xxx
HVDY- DD made lovely food. Little sandwiches , Scones with clotted cream and Jam ,coffee and walnut cake, cupcakes and lemon tray bake. Had a doggy bag to bring home. It was really nice to sit and chat with GD3 as well and stuff ouselves.
So sorry you feel so awful - anything to do with throats is so invasive isn’t it. Ah you really could do with just resting both your body and your throat. Hope you enjoyed your visit though.
SweetPeaSue- hope you,ve had a nice Mothers Day.
Doodle- hope you,ve had a nice visit with your Son and Church was its usual lovely self.
Sending love to all BDs mentioned or not. Hope those we haven’t heard from lately are not having too hard a time.

Sweetpeasue Sun 30-Mar-25 18:00:51

HVDY Oh I'm so sorry your throat is so bad today. I understand you not wanting to put son off but I know how the extra effort can make you feel. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow. You and Wyllow both. Your SGD must be so talented ,she's really doing well and sounds like she's enjoying it so much. Must be so proud of her.
Scaredycat I doo Google most things now as I firmly believe - unless we're paranoid- that our own input about our symptoms and instinct can help the GPs decisions too. Though I know they have the professional abilities too. I hope your day has been OK today. It must have so many connotations and memories for you. Please accept a hug.
*EllieAnne Ihope you've had a decent day and you had a good visit to your friend yesterday. She must have appreciated you taking time to make
the scones. I bet they were very nice.
Doodle I really do think my DH could have HF but I guess the GCA sy.ptoms that cause extreme tiredness could be confusing GP too. Anyway the appt DH has forRheumatologist is this Wednesday so we can ask there about the steroid dosage too.
I think you said you might see one of your sons today so hope you've had a good day. X

Back later.

Sweetpeasue Sun 30-Mar-25 16:05:53

Candy So annoying you forgot the flowers- can imagine your heart dropping when having to turn back for them. I really hope you have a relaxing time at your caravan.
Wyllow That ear doesn't seem right at all. Strangely I had stabbing pain in my right ear when I saw GP- said ear drum looked pink and prescribed Otomize ear- spray but the pain stopped and not had to use. Yours sounds bad though with the hearing loss and wax. Hope you can get it sorted out with NHS - you could do without more problems. Hope your day is better today.

Back later.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 30-Mar-25 15:07:30

ScaredyCat I hope you enjoy the delicious things your daughter has beaked.

Wyllow3 Thank you. I feel lousy today, my throat is so painful and I'd have liked to have lolled about and dozed - but Son1 said he (and his family) were coming, so I've been up and ready all day. They're coming "before dinner", whenever that will be. I hope you feel a bit better today. The painful ear - have you got an infection in it? If so, that'll be the cause of your shivering, I expect. Keep warm and drink lots.

How's everyone else? x

Wyllow3 Sun 30-Mar-25 02:00:52

An extra wave for Sweetpeasue

Wyllow3 Sun 30-Mar-25 02:00:14

I’m glad you are a bit better HVDY, I was concerned you had a stone and didnt pop back in…what a comfort Jaffa is.

I’m very under the weather -ears, shivery, exhaustion, dressing gown day, worried won’t get my hearing back and one ear is stabbing a bit will ring GP if it gets worse. (Its only supposed to have wax in it) Just got through the day but didnt expect more after such a demanding week.. Must have a shower tomorrow!
GP’s dont syringe ears anymore. Its probably a choice between and unless wait for ENT or private (would be my option)

No you are not a bad gran EllieAnne. DGS2 will be glad you’re there but beyond that….

I’m not surprised you get blanked out memory at times Doodle emotional strain can do so many things. Glad you are seeing both sons.

Hi Candy I’m glad you are busy but I’m not surprised you forgot the flowers trying to do it all.

I expect you are looking forward to the furries Scaredycat . Have a lovely time at DD’s and her daughter while DH watches the footie. (Rather him than me).

Best nights possible, all xx

Scaredycat Sat 29-Mar-25 19:30:45

Hi all
SweetPeaSue- the trouble with Googling is it is so easy to read symptoms and think they fit but often it can be something else entirely. It’s hard though for you to trust your GP as you,ve had so many let downs.
Fluffball is so sweet- what a lovely cuddle buddy she is for you.
Wyllow- you,ve made big strides this week . Yes sometimes it’s handy to play the “old and worried” card isn’t it. Glad your car is OK now and you can go out with confidence.
If today has turned out to be a PJ day it,ll be ‘cos you need it . There’s been a lot of extra stuff for you this week. But you did it all!!!!
Yes not that cat but somewhere later in the year there will be 2 little furries that will need us.
HVDY- no wonder you have felt poorly - Tonsillitis is horrible. I hope you felt well enough to go and see Macbeth. Your ‘extra’ GD sounds very versatile in the things she does.
It’s so lovely how you have taken the 2 children as your own. We feel the same way about our DiL 2 grown up children - they are great .
Yes I was glad the cat has a home although I was secretly hoping he might need one!
EllieAnne- No you’re not a bad gran. We,re all the same and love the bits that our children are in .
Hope the scones went down well- real comfort food.
Doodle- I can’t imagine what it’s like to have no mind pictures.
Without photos or Vids it would be very difficult.
Yes wasn’t that letter quick- we couldn’t believe it.
Have a lovely day tomorrow- so glad you will be able to see both sons. I hope your Son had a great Birthday in NY - such a great city.
My DD is making me afternoon tea and has been busy baking today. I think her youngest girl will be there too as she wants to see her Mum. DH will stay at home and watch football!
Candy- so nice to see you. Glad you finally got to put the flowers on your Mums grave. She would have smiled I,m sure at your double journey there. My DD was having her tonsils out on the day my Dad died- what a day that was.
Enjoy your time at the caravan and your meal tonight. Hope it’s good as it will be nice to have it close by.

Wishing peaceful nights to all BDs those mentioned and those not. Take care all

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Mar-25 19:14:56

Just noticed my spelling mistakes. Trying to type it on my mobile (which has got a badly cracked screen). Bought a new one but am waiting for Son1 to set it all up tomorrow x

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Mar-25 19:12:32

Doodle no, the stone is due to me having Tonsilitis, unconnected with the cough/wheezing thing (which I firmly believe is Asthma as I haven't been wheezy since I started using this new inhaler. Macbeth was good (although we didn't really understand mucj of it grin. The lead role was a lot for 1 person so was split between 3 of them. SGD played Macbeth 2. It's 2 performances today and tomorrow, 1 yesterday. She's a
confident, but not arrogant, lovely girl. How nice that you'll get to see both sons tomorrow. You're such a close family. They obviously love you a great deal. My Son2 came today, with gifts and cards. Son1 coming tomorrow.

Candy6. I bet you couldn't believe getting all the way there and realising you'd gorgotten it. Good job it wasn't even further away. You do such a lot of things. I get one thing after another because my immunity isn't great, due to having Vasculitis. I really must find out what I could eat or take to help it.

How's everyone else been today? x

Candy6 Sat 29-Mar-25 18:40:32

Hi all, not been in for ages but I’ve just had a quick catch up. I do think about you all but I’m always so busy. An amusing story from my busy life yesterday- I was trying to get lots of things done yesterday morning as we wanted to get away to our caravan. Time caught up with me and I was rushing so much to get GS to school on time. One of things I needed to do was to take a floral tribute to my DM’s grave (she died in 1995) which is about 5 miles from where I live. Got there and realised I hadn’t put the floral tribute in the car! So that delayed us even more as I had to go back home and go again. It’s not that I’m unorganised it really isn’t it’s just that I have so much to do. I can see the funny side of it now though. Anyway, enough about me, I hope you are all as well as possible.
HVDY that must have been pretty scary coughing up a stone like that. I would have panicked. It could be the reason why you’ve been having so many problems though? My DD used to get tonsillitis a lot. They try not to take them out these days don’t they whereas they used to whip them out at the drop of a hat. My DH had his done as a child. I hope you are feeling better today and managed to get to see the play.
Wyllow hope your ears are getting better. Glad you’ve seen GP as it sounded more than wax if you’re getting pain. I’m sure the drops will sort you out. Have you got to have them syringed when you finish the drops? Nice you’re getting your garden sorted too. That will give you a lift, especially with the weather getting nicer.
Ellie Anne try to keep your appointment. I know it’s not nice but with it being bladder related, even if there’s an examination involved, it’ll be external I’m sure. It might be worth you taking a sample with you too. So much better than doing one there. I hope you get sorted. Hope you enjoyed watch dgs2 in her show, you’re not a bad gran at all. I go to watch DGS play his football but I’m only really interested in seeing him. It’s normal.
Doodle nice your DS is having a nice celebration in New York. We went there for our 40th wedding anniversary- it was somewhere I’d always wanted to go. I have to say I was a little under whelmed as I’d built it up too much I think. I’m so glad I’ve been though. Hope you have a lovely time with your other DS tomorrow.
Sweetpeasue hope you and your DH are well and you’ve had a good day.
Scaredycat hope you are well too and are having a good weekend.

Sorry for not mentioning everyone personally but hope all are ok. We are going for a meal at the pub not far from our caravan. It’s just been taken over and we’ve not tried it yet. Hope all have a lovely evening xx

Doodle Sat 29-Mar-25 18:28:21

wyllow glad you got the car done and the garden is taking shape. I hope both those things lift your spirits a bit.
Are you having a more restful day today?
Scaredycat forgot to say I was pleased to hear about your DH’s cateract letter. That’s very quick.
HVDY do you think it was the stone that was causing the wheezing then? I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better now.
I’m actually seeing both sons tomorrow. The one that’s coming back from NY wants me to pop in late afternoon when they should be back. That will be nice to see them both.
Hope you enjoy Macbeth. It’s so lovely the attention you pay your DILs other daughter. Such a nice thing to do.
Ellie Anne please don’t cancel the appointment until closer to the time. Maybe it would be a good idea to go anyway.
I’m the same, always liked seeing our grandchildren in anything but watching others dancing is not my cup of tea. Hope the little one does well and you can have a proud grandma moment,

Doodle Sat 29-Mar-25 18:20:23

Scaredycat glad you had a nice meal and I hope this time there were no hitches. My memory issues are a nuisance. It’s very difficult to explain to people. If I say I forget things they either think I mean I have Alzheimer’s or the say oh yes I have that too I keep forgetting things. Where it’s more like not being able to recall things at all. No pictures in the mind.
Sweetpeasue thank you for the lovely photos of Fluffball.
I can understand why you think your Dh might have heart failure but also could be asthma/COPD problems too. I cannot understand why your GP hasn’t sent your Dh for a heart check while he’s waiting for the spirometry.
Don’t worry about not writing to all. Some days we’re all just too worn out,

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Mar-25 11:35:55

EllieAnne That's a long way off still. I hope it does improve though. No, it doesn't make you a bad gran. Children, other than "our own" are not always very interesting. I class DIL's daughter and Son1's GF's son as "our own" though. Hope your granddaughter does well and that you and your friend have a nice chat with your scones (and I bet they've very nice)

Ellie Anne Sat 29-Mar-25 10:20:29

Hvdy it’s next Wednesday I go. And typically it’s a bit better today. Going to watch dgs 2 in her dance show today.
I find it quite boring except when she is on. Does that make me a bad gran?
Made some scones and taking them to visit my friend this morning. They’re not great but we will eat them anyway.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Mar-25 08:26:23

Wyllow3 So pleased you got your car sorted out and all looking smart too. It sounds as though you might be sickening for something - or perhaps it's due to your ears? I hope the drops help soon. No, I didn't contact the GP. TBH, I'm sick of having things wrong with me (due to low immunity caused by Vasculitis, which has flared up recently) and going to the doctor's. I'll be ok soon. Thanks.

EllieAnne How did it go at the doctor's?

Son1 is calling round this morning, as he's taking DIL for Mother's Day tomorrow. DH and I are going to see DIL's 14 year old girl in Macbeth at the Lace Market Theatre in town this afternoon (if I feel ok, otherwise DH will go alone). Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day. x

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Mar-25 08:19:23

Doodle I'm almost 66. I remember my brothers (I had 3 older ones - they were 12, 10 and 5 when I was born) playing records on a Dansette player. I Google a lot of things, and that thing looked like a tonsil stone. I've had Tonsilitis (that's what I've got at the moment) many times before, but never had that. I'm not going to bother a GP. It's a viral thing. At least I'm not wheezing any more. Glad your son is enjoying his big birthday. Nice that you'll see the other son tomorrow. You had a busy day yesterday.

ScaredyCat I'm glad the cat is ok. He must just enjoy being in other gardens (perhaps there are noisy children or a dog at his home). I keep asking Son1 to do something with all these DVDs, as we've had them here for 6 years now! Hope your husband won't be waiting long for his cataract procedure. Probably not, if he's already had a letter.

SweetpeaSue I've had/got Tonsilitis, that's why I've been feverish (that's stopped, thankfully). I get it more or less every year but have never had a stone like that. What a pretty little dog Fluffball is. I bet she loves being with you and your husband. I find it comforting to have a pet to lie/go to sleep with. Jaffa's been with me all night, every night this week.

Wyllow3 Sat 29-Mar-25 01:13:36

Thats aa difficult dilemma EllieAnne about the male doctor. You do need to see him if you can manage, it’s clearly making life harder than it is suffering with the problem.

Yes HVDY different ear drops for each ear.

I was so worried about everything getting done today I slept really badly and was absolutely exhausted but in the end the car got done smoothly - more £££ this week after the gardener but the car is also gleaming as I shelled out for them to clean it too and its running well and they were really nice and one of those occasions where looking older and worried brings a helpful reaction!

Got a sleep in late afternoon but I am feeling poorly - shivery, earache - clearly exhaustion - I think tomorrow will be a dressing gown day. Cross fingers for hearing return to a reasonable level , a silent world isnt good.

Aw HVDY that was a bad night too. Have you contacted the doctor - you didnt come back in today after coughing up the solid thing

No sun lounger as yet Doodle. My, you had an active day - walking, church lunch, shopping! I hope you have a decent sleep after all that. I’m glad you have an invite on Mothers Day. Very exciting for the New York Son.

Yes Scaredycat the “gardener” is actually a minor landscaper so he charges more than a labourer would, but it’s worth it for me. Looks like you won’t have a cat to adopt…
It’s grand news for DH re the cataract operations - they are clearly “farming them out” = ay it be soon. Glad the other night out was a nice meal.

Thank you for the Fluffball pix, Sweetpeasue, lives up to her name and cuddles.
I just wish there was a way off finding a way to get an answer about heart matters for DH, take best care you can, now.

Night night BD’s present and reading both.
