Front tooth snapped off at root!!!!

I got a tempory solution from Amazon.. You melt some white plastic 'beads' in hot water and mould them into a tooth shape. Then carefully fit it into the gap.
When it hardens its a removeable tooth - the blurb says you can eat with it, but I didn't trust it and removed it to eat.
Open Amazon and type 'mouldable false teeth'. There are videos so you can decide which suits you.
When I showed it to my dentist he wasn't annoyed or anything. He said he'd never heard of it but was fascinated.
It won't help if your stump is painful and infected.

I don't think I will be able to have a replacement crown, as there is nothing left in the gap to hold a crown.
My tooth completely sheared off at the gum-line.
It was fully encased by the crown around it.
Only fragments of tooth left in the gum.
That is part of my concern going forwards. Nothing to attach a crown to.
The pain is horrendous now, and my face is red and swollen.
I have contacted my GP, to see if she would be willing to write a prescription for Flagyl, to help me through the next few days.....but still waiting to hear from the surgery.

Thinking of you and wishing you strength. I do emphasize, breaking a too ( especially a front one) is a frightening experience. I do hope you get treatment quickly and please remember the thought of treatment is FAR worse than the reality - I am an anxious patient but can honestly say that during my adult life I have never experienced pain at the dentist. You will be fine ! Good luck and keep us posted on progress.

My friend has always been very anxious about going to the dentist. She makes sure she tells them and, so far, has had very sympathetic treatment.

Dental treatment here in the past, especially the school dental service, could be pretty unpleasant and off-putting. It is so much better these days, especially with the use of local anaesthetics.

I hope the dentist who helps you turns out to be sympathetic.

The same thing happened to me years ago, I was away from home at the time.

A dentist years earlier had taken the nerves out of two teeth an that, of course, weakened them.
I did get a temporary crown while I was waiting for a proper crown to be fitted so at least I could smile.

It's not pleasant having a crown fitted, I know but it's really not as bad as you fear these days.
And then you'll be able to smile again.

Whilst you are waiting I would use a salt and water mouth rinse.. like you would after a tooth extraction.

Please don’t worry. As been said dental treatment is painless these days. I’ve got a mouthful of crowns, fillings etc and I’ve never felt a thing. Tooth pain and discomfort is far worse than the actual treatment. I’m thinking of you. You will be fine. Big hug. 💐

Still awaiting call from emergency Dentist.
I don't even know where the clinic is based.
My BP must be through the roof at the moment, and I am shivering with fear and anxiety now.

Agnieszka I just wanted to say I am so sorry you're going through this just before Christmas when it's difficult to get an appointment, and hope you can get something sorted quickly. It's perfectly understandable why you are feeling so anxious.

I can empathise. I have severe dentist phobia as well. As a result, I don’t have the best teeth in the world. The main thing is to avoid infection. I hope you manage to get an emergency anppointment asap. And do let us know how you got on.

Have you rung your usual dentist? I have a relative dentist and there is always a dentist on call when the practice is closed. All year round even christmas day

When you get an appointment please call whoever it is and tell them you are a very anxious person around dentistry.
That way they will at least be alert!

I have been to and fro this last 10 days. I am not anxious but have had two lots of unexpected problems after my check up on mid December!

I so appreciate your kind responses.
My Dental Clinic is closed until next Monday.
I am now awaiting a call, from an emergency Dentist in another area, that the Receptionist referred me to. She was on duty for that purpose only.
If I did not have this severe Anxiety, around all aspects of Dentistry, I would be better able to cope.
In Poland, growing up, the Dental care was very poor and no compassion offered to patients.
I was left emotionally scarred by it all.
I really do appreciate each and every response, in my time of upset.

They can give you a new tooth by putting a metal peg into root and attaching tooth to it. But this would take a number of visits. But short term, as others said, the exposed root needs protection.
I broke my 2 front teeth when I was about 14 - they were treated as I've described and I still have them almost 60 years later!

Be brave. Dental treatment is painless these days and, as Karmalady said, you could get a serious infection if you don’t get it treated which would be far more painful. You can do it

100% you need to be grown up and ring your dentist first thing. That area in your gum needs to be protected as you could very easily get a bad infection. All good dental practices have dentists on call

thank you to all who posted.
My problem is compounded by my severe Dental Phobia.
I am shaking like a leaf going for a check-up, even.
I still have the tooth, but there is nowhere to attach it to.
Will the fragment left in the gum need to be extracted and also what about the root inside the gum?
What a state I am in, ladies.
Your kindness is much appreciated,though.
I hope my English is good enough to explain things to you,as
my usual focus, is shot to pieces over this happening to me.

Oh you poor thing and just before Christmas. I would ring your dentist as soon as they open and ask for an emergency appointment, cry down the phone if necessary! If no luck there, as Aldo’s says, ring 111 and ask for details of an emergency dentist. If you still have your tooth they might be able to fix it temporarily until you can get an appointment with your own dentist. Thinking of you.
