Im due to have the above op, because of Vault Prolapse.
I have seen the word “Mesh” mentioned but that doesn't seem to be of any significance, thank goodness, I am also post hysterectomy. I’m just a little worried and would be so pleased to hear their own good news after this op.

I had this done 10 years ago. My surgeon was very old fashioned and insisted on a full open operation. It fixed the prolapse, I said I didn't want mesh, he said it would be okay, and I haven't had problems with it, though can suffer an occasional slight leakage if I have a cold with a prolonged coughing fit.

It is a major operation, as big as a hysterectomy so prepare for at least 6 weeks recuperation.

I have been reading about prolapse repair currently. The NHS website states that at present it is not possible to have a repair using mesh.

Mesh got a really bad name, and I think its use has been paused.

We're just giving this thread a bump for the OP in case anyone else has any advice and support for her.
