teabagwoman I have had both hips replaced, the most recent was six months ago. Since I started to get around more, I have developed arthritis in both ankles and feet. The right ankle is worse than the left. Since my doctor’s advice is always painkillers and physiotherapy, I went straight to the physio at the surgery. She diagnosed arthritis, possibly exacerbated by ligament problems due to walking differently (more normally) since the operation. She gave me some exercises to do, and they are helping, although they’re not easy to do and are also fairly painful. The ankle isn’t too bad walking indoors, but coming down stairs is sometimes excruciating!
I don’t fancy surgery of any kind, so will soldier on. I’ve bought an ankle support but it’s so thick I can’t get it on!
