Just had a text to invite me to have this. Has anyone had theirs yet and if so, what side effects did you have.
I can actually book for tomorrow but am going on Friday. 😊

Mine is booked for the wknd but have had dreadful cough/cold/flu like symptoms fo almost 2 weeks now so don't know whether I should go or not. Tried phoning the surgery but no. 11 in the queue at the last attempt and then cut off. Any ideas?

I have found that my local chemist is a reliable source of advice. I consult him before bothering a doctor, and often find I don’t need to.
You could try speaking to yours. Even ove4 the phone I’m sure they will advise. I believe their training is similar to a doctor’s, but I certainly can’t fault mine. Also, you don’t have to wait weeks for an appointment!

Had my yesterday morning - slightly achy arm by late p.m. as per, but nothing today.

Oldbat1 Thu 10-Apr-25 15:23:46

Only chemists are doing the covid injections in this area gp surgery not participating. Dh has his booked for May.

SillyNanny321 Thu 10-Apr-25 15:27:15

Was invited by our main surgery to make an appointment for the new booster but only if I make the journey across city to the main surgery. Too many bus changes for me being disabled & too old to do! So guess I will go without unless it is made available elsewhere!

Had mine yesterday (Wed) Moderna never had any effects before but last night was violently sick. Hadn't eaten anything strange. I do put it down to the jab. Fine today!

Mr C had Moderna Spikevax last week, no side effects at all, nit even a sore arm. I postponed mine as I had a throat infection, my turn next week. Both booked at a local pharmacy, which is our preference, our GP practice always offers vaccination at a less convenient location.

My DH had his yesterday morning. He was very ill in the night and could hardly move this morning. Aches and pains all over, hardly able to walk. Lunch time today had two paracetamol and went back to sleep. I rang him a bit ago and he was much more perky.

So relieved

I've had my invitation too, but am waiting till I can speak to the GP first. I've got some anomalies in recent blood tests so not sure if I should have one.

Had mine Tuesday. Moderna. Its Thursday today, my arm still aches if pressured but thats fading fast.
Mostly back to normal.
Fierce headache by nighttime Tuesday that lead on to the next day. Controlled by Paracetamol. A general feeling of achey fatigue for x2 days in all. Not bad when compared with the option of reaction to catching something more serious?

Zappa Thu 10-Apr-25 17:20:52

Had mine yesterday - past medical history, indicates it's best I do get it. No side effects so far - no headache, nor any arm ache

Labradora Thu 10-Apr-25 17:23:40

I was loathe to start a separate posting for such a small thing but I had the second Shingles jab(Shingrix) on Tuesday and it slaughtered me whereas the first had only a mild effect.
Nauseos, headache, shivers. 20 hours in bed. No solid food for 36 hours.
I feel 75% better today, am up and have eaten
Just so y'know.
I'm too young (not often I say that these days)for the Spring Covid booster.
I'll get the Autumn one.

Ladyripple Thu 10-Apr-25 17:44:45

I had the Covid booster on the 1st April,I felt cold and shivery 12 hours later and had a sore arm for a couple of days.
This reaction is normal for me,so I get a PM appointment, then take 2 paracetamol 11 hours after the jab and wake up the next day feeling fine.

Brocky80 Thu 10-Apr-25 17:48:03

Has anyone had the shingles jab? I feel I ought to have it, for several reasons, but am a bit nervous about potential side effects. Not keen to have another Covid job however.

Liz46 Thu 10-Apr-25 17:51:24

I am CEV and had my spring covid jab a few days ago. No sore arm and no side effects.

Aldom Thu 10-Apr-25 17:59:09

Last Saturday I had the Moderna vaccination. Absolutely no side effects. Not even an aching arm this time. This is my second Moderna.

Romola Thu 10-Apr-25 18:05:47

Achy arm and slightly unwell next day after Moderna Spikevax at chemist.

TwiceAsNice Thu 10-Apr-25 18:08:19

That explains it then I’m not 75 yet

Brocky 80, you have not had a chance to read my post yet.
I have had both Shingrix jabs for Shingles.
The first caused few side effects viz two or three days when I was a bit nauseous and tired but nothing major. Arm slightly sore but not very.
Second dose slaughtered me: arm very sore ; headache ;nauseous , shivery , flu-like symptoms BUT that lasted only about 24 to 36 hours and I feel a lot better today.
I'm up and about and have eaten and most of those symptoms have either gone(the shivering) or are much reduced ( mild headache ; arm not so sore)
In other words it won't kill you.
Good Luck.

My husband is clinically vulnerable, having leukaemia, so he has been called for his.
Even though I live with him, I am ineligible for it, as I was last Spring too. I ended up paying almost £100 for it on a private basis.
Please, if you are eligible and there is no reason why you shouldn't have it, please do get vaccinated. It all helps to protect people like him.

Boolya Thu 10-Apr-25 19:00:37

I had mine a couple of weeks ago. Didn't feel a thing. Next day my arm was quite sore to the touch, but it has worn off now. DH gets his next week.

Newtothissite Thu 10-Apr-25 19:23:52

I had it a few days ago. Sore arm and tired but much better than getting covid is what I thought.

Not had one or any message to have one yet our surgery is usually very good but have heard nothing. Had Covid booster and flu jab last Autumn but nothing since

Not everyone gets the Spring one. Over 75s and immuno compromised only. However they seem to ask more people to get the Autumn one.

I was told that today, when I got mine (Moderna) .Although younger than DH at 69, I am immunocompromised.
DH will be 75 in June and will be getting his then.
I couldn't believe how empty the venue was.

HelterSkelter1 Thu 10-Apr-25 19:27:46

Brocky80 I had 2 Shingrix shingles vaccinations a couple of years ago. I had had shingles a few months earlier which was truly awful.
I had no side effects after the 2 vaccines. I never want to have shingles again and hope I never do.
Be brave.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 10-Apr-25 19:34:22

Had mine on Tuesday and dh had his the previous week. Neither of us had any side effects although a bit of an ache around injection site but only when I leant on it.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 10-Apr-25 19:36:40

Ps our email was sent via the NHS and we put our post code in and saw the local pharmacy was doing them. Nothing from the surgery.
