This is driving me mad as I am experiencing burning , itching and soreness.I had diarrhoea a couple of weeks ago and after that it started. I have tried Anusol and Sudacreme. It’s okay when I am still but walking especially outside drives me mad. Has anyone got a miracle cure? If so please tell me. I’m living in hope.

Good old fashioned Vaseline, cures all problems down below, and make sure you wear a panty liner to save getting any on your clothes!

If you're using/tempted to use those wet wipe/bum wipe things then stop/avoid! They will make you itchy and sore eventually.

I also get itchy from time to time, I think it is related to my intolerance of gluten.

Wype is what we were discussing earlier in the thread.

spottybook

Many years ago a GP suggested antihistamine for anal itching. I take Clarityn when this presents a problem. Works for me.

I too would think an allergy to certain foodstuffs or to additives might well be the cause.

Please, OP, don't mess around trying this and that, consult your doctor and try to find out exactly what the problem is, and how it can be alleviated.

You can also get Wype in a gel which goes directly on the toilet paper.

Piles not pikes!

I put up with the GP said was pikes for 5 years, coping with bleeding, soreness and difficulty wiping. GP just kept saying 'best left alone.'. Eventually I was so sick of the whole thing that I paid for a private appointment with a colorectal surgeon. She not only banded the haemorrhoids but diagnosed a large rectal polyp which was removed under anaesthetic. I have had no problems at all since. I wish I had been to see her years before.

You mention Anosol and sudocrem … both of which are useful but no one has mentioned suppositories.
Anusol and Germaloids both do good ones for haemorrhoids, but part of the haemorrhoids issue is not only pain but itching.
Do use a few of those according to dosage on packet and I think you’ll find it relieves and cures the internal and external ITCHING … combine them with the creams externally. Not cheap, but they work well. My only problem is inserting them easily. 😳

I wish Wype had existed when I was caring for my Grandma and later, for my Mum.

Thanks for all the other suggestions too, some I’ve tried and some are new.
Finally thanks for the post from Phoenix! Such a funny account, about something that isn’t funny at the time.

Sitz bath type bidets wash into all the wee corners of the bottom with no need for rough wiping. The bottom deserves to be treated as reverently as the face.

RosieandherMaw- the Wypes have arrived. I see what you mean. Thanks 🙂

Wipes of any sort are not ideal because regardless of what they claim they cannot be flushed

WitchHazel on. a cotton bad helps also get sensitive wipes and pour about third of bottle of witch hazel in leave to soak through and use to wipe

If only we had a bath - and were actually able to get into and out of one sad

I suffer from severe IBS and if I'm not careful I can get very sore and itchy in that area .
I recommend the following -gentle use of baby wipes then dry off with tissue .
A soak in the tub to which you've added a good handful of tea bags -this is also soothing for sunburn and irritated skin .
No soap and no bubble bath .
Averno oatmeal is OK.
I mix a few drops of tea tree into Sudocream and apply . I mean a few !
Some people find it too irritating in which case you might need a hydrocortisone cream .
I find my cream a bit tingly but not unpleasant then it feels numb and clean .
After two or three days the irritation goes away providing I don't have anymore diarrhoea.
I recommend two soaks in the tub daily and stay for a good half hour each time .

My goodness what a laugh! Thank you Rosie and of course Phoenix.

A joy to read through- intelligent, witty, laugh out loud funny in places, but above all (and there are days when I find this sadly absent from GN) good tempered.

Thank you for pointing me back to this thread!
I have spent quite a few happy minutes reading all 10 pages, enjoying the wit and wisdom of GN at its best, some wonderfully funny posts and doubles entendres , , good humour throughout, but most of all being able to pretend that phoenix, Anya, Jingl and others are still with us. 😢😢😢

1% hydrocortisone cream can help, but can be caused by fungal infection. Ask pharmacist.

Canesten Athletes Foot Cream is 1% hydrocortisone and an anti fungal. I have used that or Daktacort on alternate days for decades with no ill effects and complete suppression of irritation. Use only the smallest amount.

I have found this to be very soothing and really does stop the terrible itching. I took a look and it does seem to be sold in the UK. Good luck, I feel your pain.
