Broken ankle recovery

I broke my ankle on 20th August. Taken by ambulance to A&E. It was also dislocated so the A&E team reset and plastered. Went in to outpatients and had to have it reset and plastered again twice. Got home and very painful. Slept a lot. 3 days after (today) my partner wants me to try using the crutches and go downstairs. I told him I'd rather wait until my next appointment (Thursday) and the advice of a doctor or physio. Any advice?

I know too well how you must be feeling.
Rest your leg on whatever you have that is higher than your thigh

I tripped on a pothole that should have been filled in as it was on the pavement.
When my husband returned from work he took me to the hospital who did the same as yourself as I had broken a bone in my ankle. Like yourself I was in plaster for six weeks. A young friend of mine also tripped on the same pothole but being younger she was ok.
What annoyed me was when the following year my big toe started to separate. Being the summer I just kept tightening the sandal not realising that my big toe had also broken the previous year. Most annoyed as why didn’t they spot it the previous year on the Xray.
Although I was informed if I didn’t have an operation the big toe would go around to 16hrs. But by then I didn’t trust. the consultant and wanted further information from another consultant in a different hospital. This consultant informed me that the toe, now being at 22hrs, would not go any further. No one else would do the operation so I had to wear awful surgical shoes and slightly use the second toe as a big toe.
It wasn’t until we were in Africa when the family were all wearing summer shoes did I decide to undergo the operation from the only chap who offered.
However, even though it was great to be able to wear shoes again the toe I used as a big toe had a broken tendon which the surgeon didn’t realise until after the operation. .
Now it can be so painful when walking with dividers between my toes which has caused blisters and corns.
So make sure zGranny 14 they know the rest of the bones in your foot is not also broken
