I have asked the pharmacist about this, but wondered if anyone had suffered badly with nail fungus
My son has really bad nail fungus and it's not getting any better, his feet are so painful he can barely walk, because they are so painful
He has seen a podiatrist who told him to get some lamisil, it hasn't helped at all, and is very painful when he uses it
I am hoping someone might have had this problem and knows of something that may help
I really felt for him as I can see he is in a lot of pain, I don't know what to suggest
It seems pointless going back to the podiatrist if they can only suggest more lamisil,or curanail but said lamisil was better
Om sure there must be something better

Thanks in advance for any help

Just a quick update , I got him some Vicks andhe. Is using it as well a s te lamisil, he couldn't have ora l lamisil as he has cirrhosis He has heamochromatosis (too much iron). which affects the liver
He is not very well and has a hernia which affects his swallowing so on antibiotics now for that ,,which affects his eating ,
I rang the Dr on Monday to see if they would see him, because he hadn't eaten for 3 days
I am very worried because of his general health, and losing weight
His problems have all come at once
Thanks again for helping and suggestions
Can't remember if I mentioned he had a stroke 2 years ago which also affected his swallowing, and dpeech

Nurse has been today to check his feet, Dr sent her, also had flu jab Monday and blood tests yesterday ,also checking PSA, as having problems in that area too
Nurse today said the real problem with his feet and nails is nerve damage ,which does make sense as had a fall a year before his stroke and it was believed three nerves in his back were damaged also had 2 fractures
Never known anyone so unlucky and accident prone
Also got Osteoporosis

My GP said "No one's ever died of a fungal nail"
Not helpful!
I've tried everything available, even applying a treatment 3 times a day and nothing worked.
My podiatrist confirms this.
I've been told only oral medication is the answer, but this affects the liver and regular blood tests are then needed.
Podiatrist did say Vicks - previous poster mentioned Vicks mixed with tee tree oil - I'm confused, do you mix the two together or alternate? Guidance please

If a fungal nail isn’t dangerous how come you can’t have joint replacement surgery if you suffer from it?
