Osteoarthritis Diagnoses in my Ankle. Any advice?

I saw a Physiotherapist as advised last week. He has recommended using a stick when I walk my dog. Lose weight, some exercises and use Voltarol or similar to rub in. All of this to manage it so it doesn't get worst.
I'm in shock, how debilitating it is.
Has anyone got other suggestions or recommendations that who help.
Many thanks

I agree withVisgil if all else fails then an ankle replacement is possible. This of course would be a last resort if medication and/or other interventions do not work. Mr J has had 3 operations on his foot for osteoarthritis, the first two were to fuse joints and the last was an ankle replacement. All of which worked well for him but his was an extreme case. So try everything else first. Wishing you well.

Mine seems to be worst in one shoulder and my wrists currently and I’m awaiting X-ray results. My 15 +year old pinned and plated ankle is still minimal just more of an awareness that it’s there when the weather changes.
But I’m really resentful of it for sure and dreading the future.
