Winter time

ā€œWell, it’s finally winter time 🧊
It’ll be freezing in the morning — my car will be doing its usual ice-cube impression!
But I’m actually quite enjoying it. I’ve done my Pilates today, had a nice meal, and now I’m home with my candles lit, the humidifier on with some lovely essential oils, and plenty of throws and cushions around.
I’ve got my pyjamas on already, so I’m just settling in and making the most of the cosy side of winter.ā€
What the best about winter ā›„ļø

I was born in Autumn so there must be some truth in that theory although my Mum is a December baby and a sun worshipper. The good programmes are Strictly, All Creatures, I am Celebrity ....

I love everything about winter, particularly the wind and the rain
I know that’s a bit unusual and I don’t know whether being born in February has anything to do with it but give me winter over summer every timeā€¦šŸ„¶šŸ„¶šŸ„¶šŸ„¶

As I’ve got older I have hated winter so much more! Ache all day every day normally but can cope when it is not wet, windy & freezing! Every day walk now is a chore not a pleasure! Wrapping up warm just doesnt work for me! I still feel frozen! Wait impatiently for the time to get to the heating coming on for a couple of hours. Aches get aches of their own in winter! Roll on Spring!

Hate winter, just cannot tolerate the cold, dark days, wish i could hibernate until April.

Autumn and winter, my favourite seasons - as long as I am warm.

Not sure about the connection between birth date and season preferred., I was born in mid-August, not only in my least favourite season, summer, but also my least favourite part of it, the fag end, when all the trees look dry and dusty and the gardens are going over and everything needs watering.

On the other hand at least being in the fag end of summer means autumn is not far away.

Youngnanny I bought some wheaty bag wheat and made this seat warmer for my freezing cold car seat. Obviously it only lasts for my outward journey but the seat's never as bone chillingly cold on the way back.

Hate winter, can’t think of anything nice about it at all.

Yes, roll on summer, picnics, swimming outside in the blossom perfumed air, cotton dresses and loads and loads of sunshine and warmth!

My first Autumn/Winter since retirement and I am enjoying it far more than when I had to get up at silly o’clock every morning to walk dogs and feed ponies in the dark! Obviously I’m still up early but it’s so much more relaxed and the extra time in the sunshine is brilliant!

I love Autumn into winter into spring ...not a fan of really hot weather. There's only so many clothes you can take off šŸ˜‚

StoneofDestiny Fri 21-Nov-25 14:12:44

I love these sunny chilly days but not so keen when it rains. I don’t like the early darkness at 4 ish though. I am more keen on the autumn now as I have detested these over hot humid summer days we have had these last few summers.

Ignore 'Summer'.

I adore Autumn and the nights drawing in. The colours, the cosiness, the good programmes on the television, the run up to Christmas. It's the best time of year. I think I have SAD in reverse.

Me too - nothing makes me happier than to get home, put the lamps on and light the fire, it's so cosy. I love walking in cold weather, well wrapped up, with my dog wearing her warm coat. It is said that you love best the season in which you were born; for me that was the worst winter in living memory at that time. Summer

I love it when its sunny and cold, plenty of layers on, hubby and I just had a lovely walk along the sea front, called into sea front cafe, bought 2 soft ice creams, sat in the warm busy cafe, enjoyed our ice creams looking out to sea...IDEALIC

The best thing about winter for me is that I can sleep better and my energy isn’t sapped by hot weather.

When I lived in Edinburgh I used to love seeing the sunlight glinting off the frost on the beautiful buildings. We had a lot of cold bright days.

I rather like the change of seasons, unvarying weather is very boring.
In winter,I enjoy snuggling up under rugs, eating the Christmas foods, etc.
But - by February, it starts to pall and I can’t wait for the joyousness of spring, the warmth of summer, etc.

AGAA4 Fri 21-Nov-25 13:54:30

I like all the seasons. It's good to have variety. Colourful autumn. Cosy winter. New life in spring and warm summer days. I don't like very hot days now I'm older.

Imarocker Fri 21-Nov-25 13:51:35

I’m a t-shirt and shorts girl myself. As I get older I hate the winter more and more. Everytime I visit friends in Florida I want to ask them to adopt me.

Missiseff Fri 21-Nov-25 13:41:55

The best thing about Winter is when it's over.

BlueBelle Thu 20-Nov-25 23:38:59

Good programmes on TV really Bukkie !! I ve missed out on those
Christmas is really only good if you have family around you it’s a time to get through for many, as is winter.

midgey

Keepcalmandcavachon my mother had a saying, if you see a lot of crows together…they are rooks….if you see a rook on its own it’s a crow! Don’t know whether that applies to your birds.

I'm bound to get that mixed up midgey, so from now on they're all c'rooksgrin

Glorious day here. I went to my weights class that is held in the local pub skittle alley but it was so cold the lovely landlady had lit a fire and we did "hot" weights in the pub lounge. Lots of laughs and stripping off! I came home, took the dog out for his walk in the sunshine, paddled through some floods and came home to a lunch of homemade spicy tomato soup. OH had gone out for lunch so I did some art work then settled down with the dog under a heated throw and listened to an episode of The Rest is History about Elizabeth 1 and then watched a recorded Portrait Artist of the Year and totally disagreed with their choice.. Early supper with OH and then we went to the cinema to watch Bugmania, which I enjoyed and OH didn't. Home now and enjoying a glass of wine, it's been a lovely day! tbh I love all the seasons but generally, I love life cos I don't know how much more I have left!

We are not actually in winter yet, it’s still Autumn.
