Winter time

ā€œWell, it’s finally winter time 🧊
It’ll be freezing in the morning — my car will be doing its usual ice-cube impression!
But I’m actually quite enjoying it. I’ve done my Pilates today, had a nice meal, and now I’m home with my candles lit, the humidifier on with some lovely essential oils, and plenty of throws and cushions around.
I’ve got my pyjamas on already, so I’m just settling in and making the most of the cosy side of winter.ā€
What the best about winter ā›„ļø

Actually I quite like these cold sunny days. If you wrap up warm and go walking it’s lovely. Still some leaves on the trees and the sun shining through the branches is beautiful.

After days of rain I went out for my usual walk today- bright blue sky and sunshine, I was well wrapped up. Fewer people around but most making comments about the weather- the local lake was so bright reflecting the winter sun; a very still heron had found a sunspot where he stood like a statue.
I called in one of the cafes on my way back for a bowl of carrot and parsnip soup, so thick and warming!
Of course people chatted to each other, all good humoured and relaxed.
I bought cake to take home as my sister came round for a warm cuppa and a slice of coffee and walnut cake in my cosy house.
What is not to like?

Hate winter and everything about it No candles or fires will make up for lack of light, warmth and sunshine

So much light around today! And sunshine, though admittedly no warmth in it.

I always hated winter- not a great fan even now, but it's here for another three months at least so I'm earning to embrace it, especially since I finished work.

Maybe I'm desperate- I don't know?

BlueBelle Thu 20-Nov-25 20:14:12

No sunshine or light here it’s been raining on and off all day grey, cold and dank 🄶

Hate the dark nights and frosty days that make driving difficult.

Winter lover here, I think each year I look forward to it and enjoy it more & more. The crows, I just love all crows everywhere!

Grandma70s Thu 20-Nov-25 21:20:10

I love the cosy evenings and I prefer short days to long ones, when you never get enough sleep.

Sort of like winter, I do not experience anything like the winters on Dartmoor. It means I need to keep warm, read a book, no rushing around. I can't do the garden so much I can't do other than to read a book.

We are not actually in winter yet, it’s still Autumn.

It won't last šŸ˜€

Keepcalmandcavachon my mother had a saying, if you see a lot of crows together…they are rooks….if you see a rook on its own it’s a crow! Don’t know whether that applies to your birds.

Glorious day here. I went to my weights class that is held in the local pub skittle alley but it was so cold the lovely landlady had lit a fire and we did "hot" weights in the pub lounge. Lots of laughs and stripping off! I came home, took the dog out for his walk in the sunshine, paddled through some floods and came home to a lunch of homemade spicy tomato soup. OH had gone out for lunch so I did some art work then settled down with the dog under a heated throw and listened to an episode of The Rest is History about Elizabeth 1 and then watched a recorded Portrait Artist of the Year and totally disagreed with their choice.. Early supper with OH and then we went to the cinema to watch Bugmania, which I enjoyed and OH didn't. Home now and enjoying a glass of wine, it's been a lovely day! tbh I love all the seasons but generally, I love life cos I don't know how much more I have left!

I'm bound to get that mixed up midgey, so from now on they're all c'rooksgrin

I adore Autumn and the nights drawing in. The colours, the cosiness, the good programmes on the television, the run up to Christmas. It's the best time of year. I think I have SAD in reverse.

BlueBelle Thu 20-Nov-25 23:38:59

Good programmes on TV really Bukkie !! I ve missed out on those
Christmas is really only good if you have family around you it’s a time to get through for many, as is winter.

The best thing about Winter is when it's over.

I’m a t-shirt and shorts girl myself. As I get older I hate the winter more and more. Everytime I visit friends in Florida I want to ask them to adopt me.

AGAA4 Fri 21-Nov-25 13:54:30

I like all the seasons. It's good to have variety. Colourful autumn. Cosy winter. New life in spring and warm summer days. I don't like very hot days now I'm older.

grandMattie Fri 21-Nov-25 13:55:37

I rather like the change of seasons, unvarying weather is very boring.
In winter,I enjoy snuggling up under rugs, eating the Christmas foods, etc.
But - by February, it starts to pall and I can’t wait for the joyousness of spring, the warmth of summer, etc.

The best thing about winter for me is that I can sleep better and my energy isn’t sapped by hot weather.

When I lived in Edinburgh I used to love seeing the sunlight glinting off the frost on the beautiful buildings. We had a lot of cold bright days.

I love it when its sunny and cold, plenty of layers on, hubby and I just had a lovely walk along the sea front, called into sea front cafe, bought 2 soft ice creams, sat in the warm busy cafe, enjoyed our ice creams looking out to sea...IDEALIC

Me too - nothing makes me happier than to get home, put the lamps on and light the fire, it's so cosy. I love walking in cold weather, well wrapped up, with my dog wearing her warm coat. It is said that you love best the season in which you were born; for me that was the worst winter in living memory at that time. Summer
