Atrio-ventricular node ablation

Setting off today to spend the night in Birmingham to be ready for early start at the QE hospital tomorrow for my av node ablation . I have the pacemaker already and this is the second stage of the procedure. I am desperate for it to help as at the moment I can do so little - even a shower wipes me out.

Fingers crossed!

Thank you. Recuperation is very frustrating ........

But I do recognise how lucky I am to have this procedure at my disposal - and free.

I missed this thread but would like to send best wishes to you Luckygirl and hope you'll see a real improvement soon.

In the meantime, rest, follow doctor's orders and I hope you can sleep well and have someone nearby to help.

Luckygirl3... Glad it went well, each day you will improve, it won't be long until your firing on all cylinders.
Just sit in the sun in your garden, and plan what you need to do when your back fully.

Thank you all.
I am now 6 days post op and progress is steady but slower than I had anticipated. I am still doing a lots of resting. Cardio nurse from Brum rang today and says that I should not expect to be doing normal things for at least 2 weeks and that I will not feel the real benefits till 4 to 6 weeks time when my pacemaker will be tweaked. For a few weeks the base rate has to be set high and it feels very weird ... tired but wired is how I would describe it. Very strange.
But I am still here and was able to sit in the sun today.
