Following a 3 year wait, last September 2025, I eventually attended an appointment with a general surgeon concerning digestive/bowel issues. A colonoscopy, endoscopy and a CT Colon Scan were arranged and carried out. This month, 6 months later, I received a letter from the Surgeon containing results and an appointment letter.
A high result on one of the tests stated that a repeat should be carried out in 2 weeks. I find this delay concerning. Fortunately I do have an appointment arranged with the consultant for mid April.
However, I am really worried about something else. My CT Colon Scan has shown that I have a mildly enlarged left Adrenal Gland Hyperplasia and the consultant states in his letter that he will discuss the management of this at our upcoming appointment.
This was an unexpected find, found incidentally, and I am really worried. Knowing nothing about Adrenal Glands I of course resorted to Dr. Google which we all know is the way of madness. It would appear that Hyperplasia is a growth, enlargement, a tumor. The Adrenal Gland affects all sorts of vital hormones. What I have read regarding treatment has terrified me. I feel sick with worry.
This has come upon a terrible few years. Having never been in hospital apart from pregnancy at 76 I've been admitted twice in the last 3 years as an emergency when sciatic pain flared beyond being bearable. I continue to walk when possible with a rollater and have a
hospital bed at home.
I am feeling that I just cannot bear to be coping with something else serious on top of my unceasing sciatica pain which morphine doesn't help much.
Do any of you dear ladies have any experience of managing Adrenal Gland Hyperplasia.
I am sorry this post is so long but I didn't want to leave out anything that might be relevant.
Thank you for reading this far.
My dad still cooks better than me and he's 71
Relatively new here so an introduction.
