'Our Future Health is very similar to the UK Biobank that recruited half a million people for, a huge database about 15-20 yers ago. The results from the huge bank of data the Buibank has collected

Both the UK Biobank and Future Health are working together and while people are free to join the sample for both schemes, people who are already members of UK Biobank are being asked not to volunteer for the Our Future Health sample as well. www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/taking-part/our-agreement-with-you/should-you-participate-in-our-future-health/

If you look at this companion site, it lists some of the advances in science made using the Biobank data. You will probably recognise a number of them because they have made it into mainstream media www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/discoveries-and-impact/major-achievements/

UK Biobank has been able to do help so many groups do research that I would encourage anyone who is not a member of UK Biobank to volunteer for this project.

Yes, my husband and I have both done it.

They do an initial basic health test (height, weight, blood pressure, etc), then track you over the next few years (I believe). We haven't been called back for further tests yet, but I understand they are doing research into all sorts of medical conditions, and who develops things in the future.

1000's of people are already signed up, but they need lots of people to create enough data to use. (Different ages, locations, familial histories, pre-existing conditions, etc.)

In our family we have an inheritable condition, which sadly our daughter was born with (our 2 sons luckily missed it).

I will do anything to help research into this and other medical conditions so that treatments and cures can be developed, and other families do not have to suffer what we have in the future.

Do get involved if you can, the more information and people they have the better...

Yes thanks, I know that and have looked at it, but I wondered if anyone had tried it and how they found it.

Has anyone signed up for this? We've had a letter from this organisation, sent, it says, to us not by name but as a random address. I think it sounds interesting but wanted to find out a bit more. Any comments would be welcome. Thank you in advance. smile
