This thread is for support and queries arising from injections and other treatments…please be kind..

Know from another thread, some comments/opinions are very judgmental…obesity is a condition which affects a lot of people..we shouldn’t feel bad about trying to lose weight in any form…

I’ve only told 2 people as it seems many have strong views against the weight loss injections but, surely, whether we can get tier 3 NHS treatment or, private treatment, shows we’re acting responsibly for our individual health

Wondering how many people are struggling alone?

how many are struggling alone with weight issues?

So …the needle bent and broke so not doing something right..any views.? Has anyone had this happen before?

I take it that unless posting negatively people have nothing to say 🤔 Lots of people I know are taking the weight loss injections, both Mounjaro and Wygovy and so far I haven’t heard any horror stories. I think maybe you were a bit brutal with yourself when injecting - just gently put the needle in, there’s no need to literally jab yourself. Hope it goes well for you and that you have the success you are looking for - well done for being proactive

A friend of mine was on Mounjaro
for a long time and did lose weight but she also lost most of her muscle. Apparently this is a well-known but unpublicised side-effect. She’s come off it for that reason and is now trying to get the weight off with exercise and diet.

Thank you for commenting..the pharmacist who gave me first injection said I had to push needle in so when I tried to push I thought this was correct way…but didn’t feel I did it correctly..

Have to add that I’ve lost sensitivity in fingers and power in screwing/unscrewing lids etc…and TBH I don’t like needles- am bit of a wuss🫤
Will persevere 🤞🏻

Yes I’ve heard about muscle loss and will endeavour to try and keep exercising muscles with weight dumbbells 🤞🏻

My young friend has lost most of her teeth since using the injections and now has to have implants

Fully understand your reasons, please take care.

I’ve been on Mounjaro since August 25. I lost 3 stone and am now just maintaining on a very low dose. I had no side effects other than occasional constipation. I stuck at 5mg and used dietary changes to limit my calorie intake. I have lost a lot of muscle but I didn’t do any strengthening exercises as I was going through a bereavement and my willpower was low.

I now feel years younger and will add weights into my daily regimen in the hope it will help. I’m 71 so maybe not.

Bea64, I’ve said this before but you may not have read it, so, here goes again.
I’m 73. I have heart failure, on my 4th pacemaker, AF, hypertension, diverticulitis, chronic kidney infections , amongst other stuff…….
I take bisoprolol, atorvastatin, dapergliflozin, edoxaban, sertraline, spirolactone, losartan, furusamide every day.
I weighed 16stones 6lbs,and am 5`8” tall.
Last March my cardiologist put me on mounjaro, building up to 15mg for last 3 months.
I now weigh 13` 6”, so a total loss of 3 stones in 13 months.
On my last trip to heart specialist I asked him if I was ok to keep on taking this drug since the media report it’s not great…. Taking so many drugs daily, does it “mix well” with them etc etc, and he said, “ I’m so pleased with all the results, I’m putting patients on it who have NO weight issues at all! It’s all good, and in fact there is slight improvement in your heart function”.
I was/ am delighted, and that is senior consultant cardiologist of Glenfield Hospital in East Midlands, a world recognised heart hospital. Don’t listen to all the nay sayers, just listen to those who are professional, qualified experts. The general public tend to latch on to anything they read that’s negative, and repeat that! They never say, “I’ve been reading how brilliant such and such is,’ and that’s because the media, toxic journalism etc want column inches, and good news just doesn’t measure up to scary stories!
I tell everyone!! My flower club ladies, my art class members, my Gransnetter meet-up group, neighbours, and every single one says “you look better, you look great, well done” etc etc, not a single negative comment. My 6 offspring are thrilled to bits that it has improved my health.
Ignore the noise of the unqualified people, we all have opinions, theirs are based on “oh but I’ve read loads about it…”
just pay attention to qualified experts who are fact based, and science backed. Well done for your proactive response, own it! Don’t be intimidated by non experts, and keep us posted on your journey! 🤗

BlueBelle Sat 18-Apr-26 23:33:30

But the difference is you are on this programme completely supervised and advised by consultants and that is all good news Janiepops unfortunately there are many people who aren’t being supervised or advised they are using these jabs bought online and using them with no supervision and in the case of some folks I know, are using the jabs just so they can carry on eating takeaways and drinking alcohol There’s a huge difference to needing these for health reasons like my diabetic over weight friend who is under doctors supervision not like those (and this is complete true happening) that say I m going for a maccieDs now I ve had my jab

Bea65 Sun 19-Apr-26 19:26:59

MadameP that’s great news for you and maintaining with 5mg …and happy that you feel years younger 😊
Good to receive positivity about the injections…🙏

Janiepops. I’m also prescribed some of the meds you’re on so I did wonder whether they all ‘mix ‘ ok…
great news about your weight loss…And, your overall health has improved…that’s a bonus…did you wait every 4 wks to weigh yourself or??
I’ve had some nausea but not too bad ..am a bit gassy and burpy ..need to be close to a loo ..
Hopefully these symptoms will calm down 🤞🏻

My dh had lost 3 stone through using WLI. He had high bp, high cholesterol and was borderline diabetic. Plus issues with knees and back linked to being overweight. He’s had to pay for the jabs.
He’s now off them and is using diet and exercise to maintain his weight . Which is working well.
Initially he had some nausea and stomach pains and eggy burps , but they didn’t last .
My dh was a snacker and the jabs have stopped this . I dint buy crisps, sweets, cakes etc but dh would stop off at the petrol station. He now doesn’t do this .
Good luck to the op .

To Bea, I weigh myself weekly!! Annoyingly, I haven’t lost any for 3 weeks now, my own fault, I’ve been eating chocolate and jelly babies!!
I get constipation if I’m not vigilant, but overall, feel so much better, 👍 😍

I was reluctant to post on here at first on this subject because previous threads have attracted negative, ill informed comments by people who have no personal experience of weight loss jabs.
I have taken Mounjaro for coming up to two years now and have lost 6 stone.
I pay for them through a registered pharmacist who I chose because they give excellent support and guidance. It is extremely difficult to get on the nhs at present.
This drug has changed my life and drastically improved my health and mobility. I am 69.
I monitor my calories every single day using the nutracheck app and prioritise protein, fibre and my five a day. I also now walk for at least 30 minutes most days which I would have been completely unable to do before.
I have tried many times over the years and failed to lose much weight.
I still have a few stone to lose but unfortunately your body adapts to lower calories over time so it is now very slow indeed, but the improvements already made are life changing for me.
I did have side effects in the first months, mainly nausea and constipation but have learnt to manage these.
The only real negative is the cost. They are very expensive.
Good luck with your journey OP, do your own serious research and feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support..
I lost 4lbs in 4 weeks…but lost a dosage because the needle bent…and just scratched mskin surface and was hesitant to rehab or of jabbing too hard…

But best of all my BP had dropped from the 160s to the 140s and pharmacist was pleased as was I
Have experienced lack of cravings so not snacking on chocolate soo much🤞🏻

I’ve now gone up a dose to 5mg and pharmacist has given me longer needles…wasn’t aware there were longer needles and checked online and no-one mentioned size of needles…

So was more confident about the new needle size seems so much longer and this was easier to inject
Was more confident with this injection Today .😊

Only side effects so far seems light nausea but not immediately after injection but day 6/7 of treatment…anyone else experiencing the same symptoms or timing of symptoms in day 6/7?

Anyone doing this.. Good on you. But please make sure you follow a good diet. I know a few people who still eat rubbish and think the "jabs" will counter balance it.

So..have been at the fridge past 2 days ..have heavy cold symptoms and very congested…will probs put the lbs on that I lost last 4wks …swings and roundabouts come to mind 🫤
Anyone dealt with this minor issue.

Bea65 Wed 29-Apr-26 16:19:47

Thank you for private messages and please don’t feel judged by a surprising number of very judgey posts and comments about I should be posting/following Mumsnet threads…as opposed to GNs ..

Feel it is equally important to lose weight in 60s/70s and beyond 😊

When I first went on Wegovy I lost my sweet tooth but last week it came back with a vengeance. I ate three chocolate digestives & put a pound on the next day.
This week just stocked up on fruit & haven’t bought any treats for my husband.

Bea65 Fri 01-May-26 16:46:43

Yes I’ve had strong cravings as can’t taste or smell anything…did some research online and found that some people get the chills/feel cold when they start to lose pounds…
Am afraid to get on scales today and would normally take the weekly dose but am still congested and don’t feel it would be beneficial ?? so waiting till Saturday and hope I feel less congested and weak…don’t want to waste a dose 🙈

MT62 👍
Cheesey 🤞🏻
Janiepops love chocolate and jelly babies but not together 😍
