I'm starting to worry slightly as some of my family are due to fly to Tenerife on Tuesday. They do seem to have been lax in dealing with it. 29 of them left the cruise ship in St Helena and flew to various countries including UK. 2 people left Cape Verde and flew to UK I believe. A passenger said today that they were all mixing during meal times and recreation.
Not at all concerned. The media does this all the time. Not long ago the country was getting hyped up due to meningitis even though there will always be a few deaths from it
I am quite worried. Is a zoonotic disease that spreads between humans, there is no cure and it has a not insignificant fatality rate. It has already killed several people before their time and I don’t think we have heard the last of it yet. Will see.
You could say that about all inclusive holidays. I think we are the only two here using hand sanitizer before our meals. you imagine where all those hands have been before picking up the tongs 🤦♀️
I don’t believe this was picked up from the cruise ship at all. I read though, that a bird watching outing was undertaken to a landfill site. Apparently hantavirus is fairly rife in South Argentina.
Not worried no ( not yet anyway ) but it’s made my mind up about going on a cruise.
Same. I'm not particularly worried about it, although I do feel the 'containing' of it appears to have been a bit lackadaisical, to put it mildly. However, it has only served to confirm my lifelong vow never to set foot on a cruise ship.
Anyone else worried bout this. I know it's a on a ship at the moment. But I have been listening to BBC news channel and quiet a large amount of time devoted to it plus a meeting with the WHO it has made my blood run cold at the thought of another serious virus gaining hold.
