Anybody else experienced these ?

I am literally 18 Days post op fromTKR & on day 14 I woke covered in , well red welts !
I’m calling them hives ? I have no idea if this is what they are ?
On Day 14 they erupted across my back , hairline on my neck & scalp , right arm & wrist
Day 15 across my lower back , a line across my stomach & right leg
Day 16 My Face / Hair line & left eye

You get the picture , so it has continued.

On first discovery I contacted my GP. Surgery & as requested sent photos . A call back from GP & he couldn’t confirm what it was advised use of Antihistamines & E45 Cream .
Which by the time he called I had already had the sense to use .
He suggested, I call surgery again on Tuesday if they hadn’t disappeared.

I am obviously concerned as to the WHY / WHAT cause .

Also right now I am taking more medication than I ever have done , Yes I used OTC meds but in a as & when basis . When absolutely necessary or when I knew I would be out for a while walking etc .
Now Paracetamol every 4 hrs & when needed Codeine . Plus blood thinners for 16 days . I had Oral Morphine which I had to resort to twice during the night .

So now as well as dealing with the TKR which is fine btw , all healing ❤️‍🩹 nicely managing ok & no worries regarding that . Had clips out & fist Physio session last week .
I didn’t want to stress about the new issue but as it’s continuing it’s a worry & now I have added the antihistamine to my daily mix .

Added a few photos for clarity.

Unfortunately your photos have not arrived.
I'm so sorry you are experiencing this uncomfortable rash. Not being able to see the rash, but I see you mentioned it is in your eye now, I wonder if you might have shingles?
Your GP really should see you face to face. All the best, I hope you feel better soon.

Check your meds as a side effect some can cause hives. I have experienced this but can’t remember what it was

Certain antibiotics cause me to have hives.

Sounds like a reaction to your meds. Hope it hasn’t affected your breathing as well. A close friend is suffering from this right now and they can’t tell her exactly which thing she is allergic to. They have put her on prednisolone which is a steroid but I’d be nervous of this. She is in her late 80 s.

This was exactly my thought especially due to the fact that I am taking so many .
The last thing I want is to take more medication. 💊
I am not on any other meds by prescription or other wise .
It’s all very odd to me .

To me this sounds like a reaction to Jed’s and please get this checked out asap! I’m allergic to pencilling and twice it started as hives. Literally within a few hours I had blown up like a big far Fred Michelin women and was very unwell.

Penicillin? Stupid auto correct! Grrrrr

I agree!

Grrrrrr meds not Jed’s!

My cat has recently been on Prednisolone, she was scratching a lot more than usual and pulling her fur out.
It has not improved her condition.
To OP it certainly is a reaction to something , get on to your GP again, it must be uncomfortable and troubling .

I had exactly the same thing...hives which spread all over my body, exept it never touched my face or lower legs.
I thought i might've been sun induced but who knows..
We were travelling through Equador at the time and I've always kept a note of the meds i was prescribed by a skin specialist there. ..How we came to see him was another story!!
The meds combo was dramatically effective.
This note has lived in various wallets ever since, hence the state of it! Good luck

Many years ago this happened to me. I put it down to having eaten swordfish the previous evening. Only appeared on my torso and was quite painful. I took antihistamines and it faded after a couple of weeks. Definitely a reaction to something but finding out what exactly caused it might be tricky.

I didn’t/couldn’t wear any underwater for a few weeks. Difficult as I was still working 😬

Hives are what Americans call a rash, no matter what the cause.
Yours looks like an allergic reaction and you may never know what caused it but surely your doctor should see it and give you treatment. GPs seem to do less and less now.
