Welcome. This thread is in support of those who wish to share their mental health problems as they affect their daily lives, share aspects of our lives supportively and give and take support. And is a continuation of Black Dog 29.
It’s been going for some time, so this is a jump in at the deep end.
All are welcome- don’t be put off by some of us being here long term - people come and go

nadateturbe Fri 28-Aug-26 19:59:38

Doodle I couldn't believe what I read about your pacemaker injury. Shocking. What a thing to happen!
I'm so sorry about how you're feeling about the cruise.. You miss your dear husband so much and so many things bring memories. You were together such a long time. I won't try to offer any advice, just give you a big hug.

nadateturbe Fri 28-Aug-26 20:13:23

Sorry, screen energy flagging.
Sweetpeasue Glad you and your husband managed to have a nice time on holiday. . Wyllow3 I too love looking at the moon. Your day with the extended family went well. Talk more tomorrow.
And yes weather is nice here, not too warm and some sun. I actually managed to get out to choose a new fridge freezer. Out for almost two hours!

Doodle Fri 28-Aug-26 20:13:48

Thank you nadatrturbe hugs are always welcome 😊

Wyllow3 Fri 28-Aug-26 21:01:24

Hi Scaredycat. Oh my. Exhausting. 😡. this really, really counts when energy is limited and time, oh, so precious. Now, you’ll have to put me right. -is that good news for DH re the doctors call? It seems so, just wanted to check it out.

You are right about friend. Overstretched and attempted to be very controlling today and I reacted for my own protection. And did it well. But took a chunk of energy as I also dealt with very tricky indeed Quaker matters and also rung a new Q contact who lives in the far north of the UK. These Zooms are great for me. Needless to say my lovey cleaner put my home to order and clean and I had a sleep despite Stuff going On.

So, no gym, tomorrow, or I shall wilt on my stalk ☺️

Ah, dear Doodle I recall you booking the cruise with reservations and of love for your friend. Now its isnt moaning, again, understandable telling it how it is. Just hoping you can with a little bit of you prepare for the possibility, however weeny - there might be moments where the fresh air and change of scene does you good. But of course you are anxious about going away. Another extra hug.

I know you’d love it, nadateturbe such a simple, lovely, rendering. I’m glad, tho your condition isolates you, you have the grace to cope as much as you do - and although it has distanced you from family, its not turned into the loss that lady has. Hey, you are doing well with screen energy!

Today has had, as you can read above, had a lot of “stuff”, but needful. But cabin bound isnt good for me too long so tomorrow nothing comes before gym. I am very anxious about going away in 3 weeks too, but thats related to my MH struggles to be independent and go to new places alone and so on.

I hope the “not here today’s” are as well as can be expected

Sweetpeasue Fri 28-Aug-26 21:10:16

Sorry haven't been in today. Absolutely exhausted after 7hr drive home ( Bank hol weekend and Leeds Festival traffic) but well done DH.
Bed soon. Just wanted to pass on my love to you all. Doodle Its going to be a struggle for you ,holiday without your wonderfull DH, but your lovely friend will understand. A big hug for you.
In tomorrow .xx

Sweetpeasue Fri 28-Aug-26 21:12:21

Sorry, I realise there are so many with more problems I haven't spoken to. I do care.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Aug-26 07:25:48

Wyllow3 Your ideas for child-friendly activities are good. It will do you good to have a day off after the busy time you had.

ScaredyCat What a rigmarole to get the dressing changed. Why do some things have to be so awkward? I'd forgotten you'd once said your husband had had his thyroid removed. That probably accounts for his problems at the moment.

Doodle Yes, I usually go in and chat with her for an hour or more. Poor woman, she never sees anyone. She can't eat anything solid at all, yet still goes shopping and buys food for her husband. She weighs 6 stone; he's 9 stone.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Aug-26 07:38:18

Doodle Understandably, you'll be thinking about all the holidays you had with your lovely husband. I hope the cruise with your friend goes well and that you'll make some new memories with her as well.

nadateturbe Glad your energy levels were better and that you got the new appliance. Did you buy any goodies to go in it?

SweetpeaSue That was a long drive. Your husband did so well with that. You must both have been exhausted last night.

Picked up DH's sister yesterday, went for lunch at a pub of her choice. The food was exceptionally good - she & I had herb-crusted salmon, green beans and crushed new potatoes. DH had currygrin. (our treat). We went to a huge garden centre and then back here for a cuppa, before DH took her home. Nothing planned for today, but may see Son1 and girls. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a good day x

Wyllow3 Sat 29-Aug-26 12:46:59

I'm tired, I had to fire off some WhatsApps and emails in the morning as its Sunday tomorrow and D should not be there, and also one for discussion by Quaker Safeguarding with a point or two, I wont attend the meeting.

but I do plan to be at the gym after a rest!

My kind of food, your choice, HVDY, spot on. Have a good day off, but my guess is just somehow...you will see family ☺️.

Sweetpeasue my goodness what an exhausting journey! The your time to catch up now, I'm just glad you enjoyed many parts of it and are home safe and sound.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Aug-26 13:39:51

Wyllow3 Lazy day today, not seeing family (although DH is at Son2's, moving the fridge freezer and washing machine back into the kitchen - long story, but the flooring has been cemented and then laminated flooring put down).

Son1 is out with his girls, buying the last bits for school next week - GD2 goes up to senior school (a different one to GD1).

I'm happy to have a day at home. Out with Son2 and his family tomorrow.

Scaredycat Sat 29-Aug-26 14:45:59

Hi all
Nadateturbe- Thank you. It was a nice afternoon but I must really learn to pace myself better.😀 So nice to see you in and glad too you,ve been able to get out a bit. Now you need to get some goodies to fill your new fridge.
Doodle- Ah I,m sure once you get on your cruise you will relax a bit. Your friend sounds such a good companion and you enjoy each others company.. You did everything with DH and now it feels so alien to do it without him but he would be so pleased for you to have a well earned break and be in that beautiful scenery.
Take our hugs on holiday with you.
Willow-you’re right it could be good news if the ECG is OK. Then he can see how he is with reduced meds.
You need to stand your corner with your new friend- never get into the being controlled scenario by anyone.
Well done for feeling relaxed and having a sleep despite all.
Your lovely cleaner is like a fairy Godmother waving her wand and bringing peace and order to your home.
HVDY- what a lovely pub meal- you are both so generous. Your home city has a lot going for it - so many nice places to visit and you certainly make the most of it.
Hope you are having a lovely day with Son2 and family.
SweetPeaSue- you must both feel a bit weary today after that long old drive. A massive achievement for your DH- hope it has given him a bit of confidence.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and just ease yourselves back into your routine.
It’s raining today- Whoopee!!!

Tomorrow my Stepdaughter and our GD are coming for 3 nights . Our GD is an ambulance/ paramedic and they are coming after she’s finished her shift. She,ll sleep while SD drives. It’s a long old drive and we,ll be happy when they are here safely.
Love to all mentioned or old friendsxx

Sweetpeasue Sat 29-Aug-26 15:59:02

3rd time of trying to post. Phone keeps freezing
Scaredycat What a carry on you had trying to get your dressing changed. Shouldn't happen ,its vital that its changed properly. Hope its healing properly. Shins have such fine skin on them. So sorry to hear of your DHs health problems too. You must be quite anxious that he gets the appropriate care. Hope the ECG is OK when he has it.
Meanwhile enjoy your DGD and stepdaughter's company.

Have Fluffball on knee and she keeps kicking my hand and whining when I stop her tum rubs to text.

EllieAnne Do hope youve found out where that leak is in the kitchen. Sounds like it might have ruined your flooring - hope not.
How is your DH now? Good he doesnt have to take the steroids now.

Sweetpeasue Sat 29-Aug-26 16:21:03

Doodle It must be so hard when the coming holiday is reminding you of the times you and DH went away and bringing forth all those times. I hope once you're away youll be able to enjoy some time with your friend. Im sure she will understand you well how you are feeling - she sounds so nice. Sending a big hug.
HVDY Yes it was certainly a long drive , though we had a few breaks.
What a lovely meal that sounded - herb crusted salmon and all so healthy! Im going to have to get back to denying the naughties now.
Hope the Cellulitis is more bearable now. So glad the massive heatwaves are finished. One extreme yo the other though-some roads here were nearly flooded. Lawn is looking better though.
Wyllow As Scaredycat mentioned, never allow another to be controlling again. Actually I believe you will be more alert to behaviour like that now . On the other hand ,relax too and dont let the past spoil the present.
( Oh , listen to me! sorry if I sound bossy! 😂)
Glad you have the gym to help put things right. You have a lovely cleaner friend too - so good.

Sweetpeasue Sat 29-Aug-26 16:27:27

Nadateturbe So good to see you posting . We understand when you can't. Pleased you managed to get out for a couple of hrs - that must help so much when you feel imprisoned by your illness.

Done 2 lots of washing today. Lots of tomatoes ripened so a neighbour got quite a lot and took some to son - we swapped -- tomatoes for Fluffball - theyre going out later.

The week went by quickly but was so lovely. Need to get restrict a bit now. Darent get on scales just yet ,it'll be too frightening.
Love to all. Xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 29-Aug-26 19:14:06

ScaredyCat We love eating out and have been to lots of places, like you and your husband. I'll try any new cuisine and have been to Spanish, Polish, Japanese, French and Greek places. The only food I don't eat is Chinese. Hope you have a nice time with your stepdaughter and granddaughter tomorrow. Paramedics work such ridiculously long shifts in a very stressful job.

SweetpeaSue I had a healthy dinner but followed it with profiterolesgrin. My diet has gone to pot with all this eating out. I must get back on it properly on Monday. My Vasculitis is fine now, thanks. I'm so glad the weather has changed. Yes, some people have had flooding. That must be awful. Jaffa has been sitting out on a patio chair, under the huge umbrella, when it's been raining! Have you got a tumble dryer for your washing? We have, but have been putting it on the clothes horse.

10 past 7 and it's already dark! Hope everyone has a cosy evening x

Doodle Sat 29-Aug-26 19:47:52

Wyllow thank you. I’m sure things will be better when I’m on board but at the moment everything is bringing back so many memories. The hunt for passports, sorting out clothes for the trip. Booking taxi. Everything brings back memories. My friend is very good though. She deserves a good trip. We have separate cabins so I can keep my snivels to when I’m on my own. You too are struggling with the thought of going away. Perhaps we can support each other 🫂
Glad you find the zooms so helpful.
HVDY my friend is very funny. We have lots of laughs. The cruise company will wonder what they’ve let themselves in for.
What a lovely time with your DH’s sister, glad you enjoyed the meal. Glad your vasculitis is better now
Scaredycat you always say the nicest things. “Take our hugs with you”. What a beautiful thing to think of.
How lovely to have your stepdaughter and GD with you for a while. Lots of catching up to do no doubt.
Sweetpeasue glad you had such an enjoyable trip. You needed it. Always the washing to come home to isn’t there.
Ellie Anne and Nadateturbe. Thinking of you too. Hope the weekend is peaceful
I went for lunch with friends today and we got marooned in the garden centre for about 30 minutes as it was raining so hard, still warm though

Wyllow3 Sat 29-Aug-26 23:32:59

Back in tomorrow xx

best nights all.

Yes have got control back by later today. I like being told/warned *Sweetpeasue"

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 30-Aug-26 08:06:38

It's a dull, wet morning. We're meeting Son2 and family at 11, at Matlock Fam Park. LG will love it there. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day x

Wyllow3 Sun 30-Aug-26 10:10:43

So she will. I hope the rain stops for the outdoor bits. Have a good time and foodie moments.

I'm having a quiet day, no Q meeting, just seeing a friend whilst I have the energy, and the sun has just come out, maybe just for a while, but I have missed it. Never pleased, me, for I wanted the rain so very much. I had a vv horrible dream at night, (which I cant recall, gladly, but a "wits end" dream, so glad to wake to a calm Sunday.

Thinking of all BD's, back later.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 30-Aug-26 18:00:05

Wyllow3 LG had a pony ride, had her face painted, and generally enjoyed herself. Hope you saw your friend ok. It's always a relief to wake up after a nasty dream.

Had a very nice, easy-going day with Son2, DIL and LG. Lots to see there - Highland Games, with strongmen (and women) tossing the caber, carrying a big, heavy stone, etc. Highland bagpipe and drum bands, plus play parks, farm animals, and various stalls and eateries. The weather stayed fine, but got home to a thunderstorm at 5.30. Hope everyone has been ok x

Sweetpeasue Sun 30-Aug-26 18:47:54

I tried posting this morning but my phone frozen again( wouldnt respond to anything, even post). Not sure if its phone or GN but getting fed up of it now.
HVDY What a lovely day with your family. Lots to do and see there for everyone. I can just imagine LG with painted face. So many love that now ( Id have hated it as a child) . Little did I realise how Id be making up ( covering face) when I got older.
Its been occasional showers here today too.
Wyllow Oh its really horrid when you have bad dreams. Why do we always have those rather than nice ones? The after affects linger around shadowing the day for a while.
Ive been the same about the wet weather- we soon forget the awful heat. We were very lucky last week though we had 3 dys of rain after family left. We just visited a couple of NT places which helped.
Hope you found enough energy to enjoy some time with your friend.

Doodle All the preparations for your holiday- bound to bring back memories really. I feel so sad for you - I know Id be the same. As you say, once on board you might feel a bit better. Its good you have your own cabin - Id need that too .
As Scaredycat says so warmly - you can pack away our hugs in that case of yours.

Hope everyone has had a decent day.
We took F out for a little walk where the ducks are. Had a coffee in Costa and F was a bit better. Shes not been given the titbits from table these days.
DH not been great today. Probably needing a rest.
Take care all.

Doodle Sun 30-Aug-26 19:31:05

Evening all. I’ve just had a coffee and the last chocolates in a box. Unfortunately there were too many left so I feel full now.
Had a nice day at church then met DS2 at the hospice.
HVDY what a wonderful day. Nice change to do something like that. I remember having a donkey ride when I was little. Perhaps LG will remember her pony ride too when she’s older.
Wyllow hope you enjoyed your quiet day. Nice sometimes to be more peaceful. It’s what I’m planning tomorrow.
Sweetpeasue all those hugs mean so much. Thank you. Sorry your Dh hasn’t been so good today. Just wish you had some answers to what’s causing him such problems.
Scaredycat nadateturbe Ellie Anne hope your Sunday was ok. I’m planning a quiet day painting tomorrow

EllieAnne Sun 30-Aug-26 20:35:59

Out today for dh birthday meal. It went ok . Gd 1 had a bit of a mood but got over it. Sons had a look at my kitchen floor and removed some of the wood so you can see how wet it is. I have a plumber coming tomorrow to have a look.
I knew that the meal would be expensive so the bill wasn’t a shock and hes only 80 once but we are fortunate that we could afford it. I didn’t have a starter but had a seafood platter with salmon sea bass and cod with mash and spinach and a nice sauce. Then I had pavlova. My 2 d in L and myself shared a bottle of wine. The men were driving.
But I am so glad it’s over.
Ds2 gets keys to their house on Tuesday. They been in a second floor council flat till now but have managed to buy a really nice ex local authority house in a better area.little dgs is looking forward to having a garden
I’ve got a headache probably due to wine and worry.
Looking forward to bedtime.

Wyllow3 Sun 30-Aug-26 21:46:23

Oh my, a pony ride and face painting ! 😊. what a lot going one, a lovely day out. Yes, the expected rain arrived late here too.

I’m so sorry about your phone, Sweetpeasue. I have had no problems with GN on my lap top. But maybe GN had a break?
Hey, you are getting there in training F for Costa. Yes, I expect the drive really hit DH hard, it would a lot of us I think. Better luck with GN tomorrow.

Doodle - its dangerous to have boxes of chocs, dangerous I tell you…I’m glad you were blessed to meet DS2 at the hospice -always nice to get your son to yourself for a bit. Have a good painting sesh tomorrow.

I’m so glad it was cope-able with, EllieAnne. Well, GD’s can be like that in family gatherings. Well done, its over !

Now I would have liked what you had as a meal very much indeed. Good choice (love seafood and its not heavy)

Wish you the very best for a quick diagnosis from your plumber.

It’s wonderful news for DS3, wonderful. Sleep better now.

Yes thank you I had a lovely quiet day with friend, now all the family have departed. They were exhausting tho I made a good enough impression.

There’s been little chance for a time for quiet chats, music and plotting a walk and meal out tomorrow.
In the rain.

Yes me too wants some sun back , why can’t it just rain at night. Pretty nervous about going away on my own in a 3 weeks time. But it’s at the seaside….nice room, people running the place were warm on the phone. (B, B, evening meal, place for a glass of wine tied others and my wi fi in the evenings)

Scaredycat Mon 31-Aug-26 07:40:43

Hi all
Just popped in to say hello before our visitors get up. Busy day today as DD SiL and GD3 coming over later . Getting any of our mixed family together is so lovely but tiring as well. Not to mention quite emotional. So have the best day you can everyone and thinking of you allxxxx
