I caught Covid last April, away on a course where I was sure two of our twelve had Covid. I tried to keep a distance but wish I’d simply left. 8 of us tested positive within days but the two spreaders didn’t test
Im imune compromised, I was exhausted, v short of breath for a week then several weeks to recovery
I wish testing was still advised, with isolation when positive

Poor you, that sounds awful!
After my recent experience I think the rules re testing/isolating are far too casual. And it worries me the way so many people cough and sneeze without covering their noses/mouths in crowded places.

I have just been invited at my gp’s surgery to have a Covid / flu vaccination and I am 68

I also had Covid in February/ March 2026 and it took at least a month to recover. Exhaustion & terrible headaches followed a bad cough

Covid is more than a bad cold, especially for those in a vulnerable category

I'm a carer as well and have no time to be ill. I'll join the two ladies in respite if I get Covid!

I had it just after Easter and I had a nasty chest infection as a result. It really floored me - l had no energy for several weeks and I had long covid symptoms until the end of July. I had a metallic taste in my mouth and it took several months until I regained my sense of taste and smell and exacerbated migraines. Even when I was feeling much better, I would suddenly become totally exhausted and have to rest for a couple of hours. Thankfully, I have now recovered but one permanent sting in the tail has meant that my already very poor hearing has deteriorated and my hearing aids have had to be made louder. I am not eligible for the vaccination but hopefully this recent bout will have given me some immunity for a few years.

Music girl, I hope Covid deniers or minimisers read your post. I’ve not recovered my sense of smell and like you, had recurrent returns to exhaustion. Covid is potentially awful

Are there any of them left?

My daughter takes a drug that massively lowers her immune system, she can't have the vaccine so the people around her are sensible enough that we test ourselves if we feel ill and have covid symptoms. The benefit? My daughter doesn't die of something that could have been avoided.

On the train last week one of the passengers was coughing enthusiastically.
The lady beside him moved away, and I put on a mask.
First time in years. Glad I had a fresh one in my bag.
