I am extremely fussy about my pillows, the two I have are getting on a bit and need to be binned. I have had a look at M & S pillows, and read the reviews, most of which are non too good. Also had a look at the John Lewis ones as well. I do prefer feathers/down etc, but there are so many to chose from. Prices vary as well, from £20 upto £150. Any suggestions?

Very hard find comfy ones that are soft enough for me cant stand feathers as they come out!
Generally pricier ones best in my experience horocks good make.

I have dozens of pillows - I sleep badly - not yet found 'the one', but I have tried; feather/down, latex, memory foam etc. Still wake up each morning with a crick in my neck after tossing and turning at night. Even tried sleeping with no pillow, but that simply moves the problem from my neck to my shoulders. Think I must be a very restless sleeper. hmm

had to laugh we just bought 2 new pillows, they were not that pricey £24.99 but best they had in small linen shop near us, I HATE Them. Gone back to my old ones which were not worn out, just we sleep on 2 and underneath ones seemed bit jaded, is very hard to find comfy pillows.
New ones seemed fine in shop just they so high and not right!!

Cant stand feathers as they always escape somehow or another.

Oh dear is dilemma!! OUr memory foam mattress is not entire is mixture and it is Divine, but the cover has become plucked only had since end May so they coming to inspect it on Monday.

Mattresss is pocket sprung with layers of memory foam, it is as said Divine, just rather disappointed with the look of it plucked up, we not sure if was the mattress protector also new, but interested to see what Dreams say on Monday.

I bought a Tempur mattress six years ago and love it, but it's a swine to turn over. I have to ask someone to help me when they visit. I also bought a Tempur ergonomic pillow which has a wedge along the bottom to support the neck. It's heavy and uncomfortable, so I don't use it. I prefer the firm goose feather pillows I bought from Costco, which plump up nicely and will bend to whatever shape I want them to.

I have not been entirely happy with my mid-range John Lewis pillows. I bought them possibly six years ago and they have gone very soft and floppy.

I am going to replace them with goose feather pillows. The farm that produces my Christmas turkey also raises geese and sells goose feather pillows, firm or soft, so I thought I would try those

Well I got my last lot from The White Company and paid quite a lot for them - they would have been feather and down and are splendid

morning, I note with interest your comments on your Tempura memory foam pillow, is it still fine for you, I have woken AGAIN with a ache in my neck and have decided to purchase a foam pillow but, as per usual so much choice including costs, is it beneficial to pay lots or less for these pillows in your opinion, I have always maintained that you only get what you pay for in terms of quality, quite confused as I do not have lots of 'pennies' therefore must make good choice ????????
would appreciate your comments
thanking you

I now have a Tempura memory foam pillow and it is the best ever! I loved my last one, though it was quite firm, but this is lovely and squashy yet supportive. (I can hear DH saying "Just like you!)

I have a memory foam pillow which is so good for my aches and pains. I certainly sleep better with it. When I visit DS and MIL I sleep on their lovely memory foam mattress - would love to be able to buy one but they are sooo expensive. The only down side is that they make you sweat in the warmer weather. I am beyond the flushes - in fact never had them - a friend has told me that she found the same with her memory foam mattress and pillow.

NannaAnna Thu 21-Jun-12 22:11:41

I swear by Dunlopillo. My new ones were £50 each. I tried various memory foam ones when my previous Dunlopillo ones finally died, but didn't take to any of them.

Jenjax on another forum of which I was a member, a similarly menopausal old bat (like me) who lived in Spain swore by her chillow!

I too am in the market for new pillows, but would just like to put a word in for M&S Coolmax bedlinen.(For those who are looking for something that might go some way to helping with the flushes!)

I was a bit sceptical, as it is a poly cotton mix, but so far both Mr P and I are very impressed with it. (fitted sheet and pillow cases tried so far.)

I echo Jacey's concern re heat! I get so hot at night sometimes that am hunting a cool comfy pillow!

Stansgran Thu 21-Jun-12 17:47:25

Has anyone come across Slumberdown anti snoring pillows -do they work? I thought I might sneak one in when someone very close to me is away.

Have reported that post.

Wow grumpy that is an amazing bargain. Must confess to being a little envious of a silk filled duvet. Love TK Maxx. My daughter got a large box of baby bottles that were too expensive to justify buying from a "normal" shop, at a ridiculous price. We did laugh though, because there were about four boxes with odd thing missing. The stupid thing was that if they had combined the boxes they would have had three complete sets that could have been sold at full price. We were not complaining though....

Grumpyoldwoman Tue 11-Oct-11 19:06:48

I can't get used to my Ikea Memory foam pillow. I bought some ''summer pillows'' by Forgarty from Debenhams which are lovely but have Dunlopillo latex underneath.
TK Maxx is always worth trying for pillows/duvets etc. A few weeks ago there was an amazing Memory pillow (£24 instead of £75) but I couldn't afford it at the time.
I bought my 13.5 tog pure silk filled duvet from there for £55 and it retails at over £300. It is fabulous !!!

HildaW Tue 11-Oct-11 18:28:24

I've gone for an Ikea memory foam one too. It took some getting used to because its quite firm but its helped with the neck a lot. Over the years I've gone from sleeping on side to sleeping on back because its better for my back. This pillow is designed for back sleepers and certainly seems to work for me.

We have a memory foam mattress and pillows and sleep really well and agree that there are fewer aches and pains in the morning. To coin a family saying "they cost more money but are worth it!!"

greenmossgiel Thu 29-Sept-11 20:23:51

Mine is 'memory foam' and contoured. It's really comfortable, holding my neck and head in a good position all night. I think I bought mine from Argos (?) Wasn't cheap but well worth it.

nanapug Thu 29-Sept-11 20:15:14

I agree Ariadne. Is yours a contoured one, or an normal pillow shape? Mine is contoured, and as you say you would think it would be uncomfortable but it isn't. My DH however doesn't like them at all.
