overall I liked the product, actually really liked the smell. Nothing I didn't like

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?

Yes gave a good clean without a bleachy smell. Performed as good as the best.

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?

Loved it, smelled really clean, but not bleachy or industrial. Did not notice any residue.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

Used on oilcloth table covering which I usually just use a multi purpose spray. Did not damage covering and worked nice and quickly.

Yes definitely, but would have to buy when on promotion.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes would recommend. I have really enjoyed testing and using this product. Thank you Gransnet!

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

I thought it was very effective and efficient. It worked quickly so saved me time - that's what I liked best - as soon as the cleaning's done I can do things I enjoy. I quite liked the fragrance too.

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
Yes, the clean was powerful and better than other produts. I didn't have to spend time scrubbing away grease stains!

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
The smell is nicer than most other products although I prefer the Febreeze fragrance. I didn't notice a chemical residue.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
No

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
I would definitely use it again because it worked well and quickly.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I have already recommended this product and will continue to do so because it's very effective.

Oldgreymare Mon 19-Mar-12 19:35:04

My overall impression of the product: good.
It cleans well, in fact it cleaned my stainless steel sink better than the proprietry stainless steel cleaner I have used most recently.
My gas hob also cleaned up well, it is much used and needs cleaning often.

Sadly, I didn't like the smell, although it is less bleachy it seems very strangely perfumed and compares badly with, for instance, other Dettol products and especially with Zoflora concentrated disinfectant (Bouquet).

I used the product in the bathroom, with good results.
I also used it on a plant pot after I had been forced to remove a shrub which was infested with blackfly. I wouldn't normally use such a product but thought it worth a try. I shan't know the results until I replant the pot.

I would use Dettol Power and Pure again especially if the smell is altered. I was glad to have cleaned the bathroom with the window open! I would also like more information on its environmental impact. 'Pure' implies it is extremely safe!

If the topic were to be discussed, I would recommend the product to a friend. I would be interested to see whether he/she likes the perfume.

Thankyou for letting me try the product.

spanielsmum Mon 19-Mar-12 13:54:16

Can't find an edit on here... probably just me but want to add that I sprayed round my sinks this morning and could still smell the product (in a nice way) 2 hours later when I returned. It made the kitchen smell lovely, despite 3 smelly spaniels [grin[[

jeni Mon 19-Mar-12 13:44:21

Quite happy with it. Nice smell. Seems to clean efficiently. Did not notice any residue. Did not use anywhere else. Do not usually use dettol products.easy to use. Would use it again. Would recommend.

Greatnan Mon 19-Mar-12 08:37:16

Do we really want to kill 99% of bacteria? My own mother was fairly relaxed about hygiene when I was born in 1940 and I have never had an upset stomach, in spite of extensive travel in tropical countries. The children whose high chairs/toys are Dettoxed to death are surely not building up any resistance. Eventually, they will come into contact with children from other types of homes and could succumb to every passing germ.

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

First impressions were very good - nice and chunky, the Dettol brand, fresh and clean design (white, blue, bubbles, etc), clear, targeted messages, comfortable to hold and use.

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?

The spray is as good or better than others I have used. Optimistically, tried it first on my hob and was very pleasantly surprised. Very happy with it.

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?

It certainly smells less 'bleachy' and less of chemicals than other cleaners. Not sure if I like it very much (but does that really matter?) but I expected and would definitely have preferred it to have a hint of the original, classic Dettol smell.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

Yes - I used it on skirting boards and walls with good results but (EUREKA moment !!) it also easily removed grand-daughter's wax crayon marks from my new light wood coffee table, with no marks or residue!

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?

Yes - very much so. For all the reasons above.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - if the opportunity ever arose... smile

crimson Sat 17-Mar-12 18:57:32

The smell is actually growing on me, but I wouldn't use it on the draining board as I think it wouldmake any mugs left to drain smell a bit sickly.

Littlemissactive Sat 17-Mar-12 18:18:51

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

Overall very good. I particularly liked the cleaning power and no residue. Found the smell overpowering.

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?

I felt it gave a powerful clean. I sprayed it inside the washing powder drawer of my washing machine which was grimy and had soap scum, removed it easily.

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?

Yes smelt less beachy but I did find the smell over powering.

It didnt leave a residue. It did say no need to rinse but when I did rinse it rinsed away easily.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

The washing machine drawer as above.

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?

If on offer I would use again as happy with results.
I felt I didn't need to scrub away as you do with some cleaners.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not sure I'm likely to chat away about cleaning......would maybe discuss my trial and would recommend it.

Earthynanna Sat 17-Mar-12 10:54:37

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

I think it looks fresh and clean

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not?
I found it was good on all the surfaces, especially good on the gas hob. We do lots of cooking with all the stirring and splashing and I usually have to scrub hard. With this product I sprayed it on, let it stand for a minute and was able to wipe the hob clean. I also used in the bathroom, on cupboard doors and it dealt well with all the fiddly bits around taps and handles

How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?

I use eco products, including ecloths. They are usually fine and I spray with Dettol disinfectant sprayin order to kill the germs carried by many small children! I think that Power and Pure would cut out the need to do that.

What did you think of the smell?
It was quite pleasant

Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not?
Yes less bleachy, which is a good thing

Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I have used products in the past that left a residue, this one didn't. To be perfectly honest, that's not the sort of thing that worrries me too much blush

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

I used it to clean the laminate floor and UPVC front door as they had got grubby in the damp weather; it was good

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again?
Yes, though I would like to know more about the environmental impact

If so why?
Good general cleaning, happy with the 99% part, it didn't seem to aggravate the eczema on my hands if I occasionally used it without rubber gloves

If not, why not?
I would like to know more about environmental impact

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend?
I can't imagine having that conversation, but I would recommend it to my daughter and daughter-in-law. Luckily, we have real strong relationships and they won't start a thread on Mumsnet, complaining about my interefering ways!

If so, why?
With large families it's important to keep door handles, loo handles, etc etc as lurgi free as possible.
If not, why not?

I note that Dettol Spray kils 99% of viruses and bacteria, Power and Pure 99% of bacteria. What does this difference in wording mean?

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

Overall very good , liked the smell of the kitchen afterwards, there was nothing I didn't like

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use

Very good just as good as my mr muscle

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I liked the smell, very fresh, no residue left

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

Grandsons highchair, got a real good clean

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?

Yes if the price is not too dear

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would reccomend, my daughter in law already noticed the different clean fresh smell when she came in

DazR Fri 16-Mar-12 19:01:08

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?
I liked the product and its appearance and would use it again if it was not too expensive. I found the weight of the bottle made it heavy to hold - but currently I am recovering from a shoulder op. My current kitchen spray is of a slightly smaller overall size.

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
It did give a powerful clean and did not require much elbow grease! It was probably a bit better than my currently product.

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I liked the smell - I thought it smelt a bit 'medical'? perhaps like germolene? I didnt notice any residue left behind.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
I used it to clean my kettle and the fridge/freezer doors with good effect.

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
Yes if attractively priced.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
If it came up in conversation I would recommend it.

nipsmum Fri 16-Mar-12 18:43:20

Hi
Thanks for giving me the chance to trial the new Dettol Power and Pure.
I would be likely to use it again.
I liked the smell. better than the strong bleach smell I have using some cleaning sprays
I did find it cleaned satisfactorily but tended to leave a film on stainless steel sink.
I used it to clean melamine trays. It worked well.
It also cleaned splashback tiles and the shower easily.
It compared well with the usual supermarket brands that I normally use.
I have given what remained to my daughter to use in her family home.
I have not had her feedback yet

glassortwo Fri 16-Mar-12 14:02:03

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?
My overall impression would be to use again if in the right price bracket. Didn’t like the smell!

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
I found Dettol Power to be effective and compared favourably with my usual cleaner. Apart from on the bath after two dirty Grandchildren had been bathed and I would say that it was easier to use in that application than my usual bath cleaner.

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
Personally I did not like the smell it was off putting when using it, reminiscent with a trip tothe Dentist.
I did find it very wet and took extra wiping to clear the surface.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
Only used where I would use a spray cleaner.

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
I would definitely use Dettol Power again in my bathroom apart from the smell. ^
I would recommend Dettol Power to a friend if cleaning products ever came up in the conversation.

grannygrunt Fri 16-Mar-12 10:53:58

My overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure spray was that it appears to be effective.
It does give a powerful clean and I think it compares favourably with other products I have used.
I thought the smell was ok and not too overpowering. It cleaned well but I found it took quite a lot to wipe it away (perhaps I used too much)
I didn't use the cleaner in any areas that I don't usually use a a powerful cleaning product.
I think I would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again but it would depend on how much it costs as this is a big factor in my decision when purchasing any products.
I would recommend this product to a friend as it cleans well and is easy to use. The only thing I would say is that it is hard to see the ON - OFF indicators and I feel it would be a good idea to make these more visible.

ataraxia Fri 16-Mar-12 10:51:25

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?
I liked the smell most. also intriguied by the idea of it breaking down to o2 and water, not needing to rinse it.
The nozzle was a bit stiff but I guess that means it is secure

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
Yes! used it on some really tough stains on the kitchen hob, was expecting to have to scrub but they came clean away witha wipe

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I thought the smell was really good - not chemically or bleachy, not overpowering. I likened it to an air freshner smell, will actually save me buying air freshner and makes me more motivated to give surfaces a quick clean as I walk by! I was surprised the smell wasn't used as a selling point on the packaging

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
Kitchen surfaces and bowl where I might be worried about chemical residue coming into contact with food service items

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
Definitely; nice smell, strong cleaning power, interesting idea about it breaking down to oxygen and water (will take me some time to believe that it doesn't need rinsing away after though!!)

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
not the kind of conversation I would normally have (!) but I would recommend it if asked

nellenoxin Thu 15-Mar-12 23:44:24

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

I felt that it was a very effective product. Cut through grease easily. Nothing I didn't like

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
Very effective clean- cut easily through grease and dirt. Better than the majority of sprays on the market

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
There was a pleasant , clean smell. Not as bleachy as other similar products. No residue left behind

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where? I used it on the bath- was very good at cleaning it

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not? I would definitely use it again

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend it to a friend. It's a really effective, fresh smelling product. Easy to use

Granny23 Thu 15-Mar-12 23:37:39

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

Looks fresh, the bottle was too big and clumsy for my small hands.

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?

As good as most kitchen sprays and better than some.

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?

Did not like the smell, I did not think it smelled bleachy. I quite like the smell of oxygen bleach. No white residue left but the smell did linger.

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

No.

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?

I will certainly use the rest of the bottle. It will depend what is on special offer when I am ready to replace it.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

My friends and I do not discuss cleaning products, our conversations are much more interesting!

crimson Thu 15-Mar-12 20:18:52

Cleaned my kitchen worktops really well, and also the bits round the bath that I usually use a Lakeland product for [you know the bits that can get a bit mildewy] but I tried to clean the bath with it and it didn't do much [but then it probably isn't meant to; I'll stick to Jiff for that]. I'm not sure about the smell. At first I thought it was very sickly and overpowering, but I've kind of got used to it. I'll probably ask a few other people what they think of the smell. It's a bit marmite.

eGJ Thu 15-Mar-12 20:14:54

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?
It was a perfectly adequate kitchen cleaner. Its container was not garish. However the smell was so strong that it made me sneeze(not usual with me)

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
It gave a splended clean; parts of the sink in my new house have always been stained. This lessened the stains. It worked better on the sink than my usual cleaner. On surfaces it took more effort to rub off

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I did not think bleach was the smell. It left a residue on surfaces

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
Because of smell I won't be using it elsewhere

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
I will use it up only on my sink, because of its power

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Can't remember ever recomending a cleaning product to a friend

Swansong Thu 15-Mar-12 19:32:41

Overall I thought a good product gentle and not as strong as Mr Muscle or similar harsher products.
Maybe too much on the "chunky side as I like to put my cleaning stuffs in a little carrier with handle so I can carry from room to room and this product too stout to fit in my box.
However I think it works well in bathroom -as gentle spray worked well on taps.
Nice looking spray but too me not outstanding.
I still have my bottle of Dettol which takes a lot of beating especially for soaking in toilet bowls - of course know its not a kitchen spray but to me its the best.
This product good but didnt have "wow" factor sorry!!

It did not seem very different to me

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I did not like the smell it reminded me of Cillet Bang. I prefer a clean smell
Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
Tried on an outdoor area of white plastic .

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
What would make me use it would be the germ killing properties

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I did not find it very different to other products

suelowe Thu 15-Mar-12 18:12:17

Nice big container, good. OFF / ON switch hard to see : bad.
Picture on front not over-exciting : neutral.
Amazed at what it did for my kitchen wall tiles : very impressed. Am now heading to do the same for the bathroom.
Smell a bit odd, though NOT bleachy : not offputting / not attractive.
No sign of chemical residue : a huge plus over past products I've used.
I WOULD use Pure again, and WOULD tell a friend about it , as she is a cleaning freak.

grannyactivist Thu 15-Mar-12 17:37:24

My overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray was that it was no better nor worse than other, similar sprays. It didn't work well on my cooker.

The cleaning power was good, but not especially so. I have another cleaning product which I will continue to use in preference as I think it does a better job.

Doesn't smell 'bleachy' but the smell was like an air freshener or fabric softener, so would be better used in the bathroom than the kitchen. No noticeable residue on work surfaces, but left the (black) cooker top looking dull.

I wouldn't choose it over my regular brand unless it was vastly cheaper.

I really, really, really didn't like the floral smell. Yuk!

BeeB63 Thu 15-Mar-12 17:26:22

Overall not that different to similar sprays. Some difficulty with turning top on and off. Would have preferred a more "sticky" foam - when used on vertical surfaces like kitchen tiles it ran down as quickly as a liquid, rather than staying on the surface long enough to work.
Cleaned well, but not noticeably better than other similar sprays such as Mr. Muscle.
Disliked the smell a lot. Not a "bleachy" smell but rather "plasticky" and chemical-smelling.
No noticeable residue.
Used it around the dog bed and food bowl area (ceramic tiled floor and painted skirting) where it adequately removed food splashes on the floor - can't say the dog was impressed with the smell though!
I would use up the bottle I have but don't think I will buy again, mainly because of the unpleasant smell, and so would not recommend to others.
