Cordless vacuum cleaners

Can anyone recommend one with good suction, not too heavy, charge lasts, etc? They seem to vary a lot in price so not sure what to look for (I had a feeble one a few years ago so may be worth paying a bit more for a good one).

Dyson DC44 is the best. It is lightweight, and user freindly cleaner.

Thank you Florence56

I needed a light vac but hadn't heard of the Gtech Air Ram. I love it, didn't realise a cordless vacuum cleaner could be so powerful. Now I need to find a cordless hand held one that holds a charge for a reasonable time for the other bits.

I am using an AEG, it's great for us but we live in a dolls house with few plug sockets so ideal, but I don't think it would be enough for a larger house, suction is good but the dirt tank is tiny!

I know this is an old post but i have the same question.
The handheld vacs i have tried out all seems to let very fine dust through, like plaster dust after drilling a hole. Sucks it up a treat thr the front but blasts it out thr the back again, so i get covered in pink dust, bit counterproductive!!
Anybody on here who has or can recommenda handheld vac which is capable of retaining this kind of stuff?
Thanks

The Dyson DC44 converts to handheld and gathers up much more than fine dust. Great for the stairs and sucking up dog hairs.

Mrs. Pompa loves her Dyson DC59. Just as powerful as her mains cleaner, even more efficient at picking up hairs etc. Charge with carpet head attached does not last as long as quoted, but it is sufficient to clean either upstarirs or downstairs on one charge, re-charges reasonably quickly.

Mrs. Pompa has not used her mains cleaner since she bought it. She was having back pain with the weight of her old cleaner, the DC 59 is very light. We reviewed many similar cleaners and decided that the DC59 was far better than the others, expensive , but worth every penny.

We also have a Dyson DC34 which is great for small jobs (I create quite a lot of those), but not a mains cleaner replacement.

Those with the dysons, can you please tell me if you find them heavy in your hand, and is it a problem having to hold the switch in all the time? Also, does it have to be put up on a wall for charging?

I have the Dyson 44 and find it great. Reviews had mentioned the inconvenience of holding the switch but it's ok. We have it on the garage wall but it would charge by just setting the motor/battery unit on the floor or workbench and plugging but better on the wall as it's out of the way and on permanent charge. A little heavier in the hand than I expected but still good and once it's in action you don't feel the weight.
