phoenix, I think it would make me rather dizzy too if I had to whizz round in circles. hmm

I cut tubes in half and tuck top round the bottom bit, amazing how much is left in a tube. ie foundation ir that squeezy icing.

Why does you whiz zing round in circles help? All it does me is make me giddy?

Anne58 Mon 25-Feb-13 17:21:31

I think I put this on the last tips thread, but for any that didn't see it, to get the last bit out of bottles or tubes of anything like ketchup, hand cream etc, hold upside down and whizz round in circles.

Make sure the lid is tightly closed!

I keep my nail polish in the fridge, it just glides on!
Scissors for parsley and cutting pizzas too, I don't think we are odd at all, just very practical!

DGD1 - the 16 year old who is a whizz at nail art. Any daisies she puts on my nails are smudged within an hour!

Oh yes, absent! I use scissors for all that too, even cutting up pizza. DD thinks it's very odd.

And DG1 thinks it is funny that I keep nail polish remover in the larder cupboard, but it's always when I'm in the kitchen that I see the state of any polish I was unwise enough to use..

Mishap Also use kitchen scissors for chopping herbs and dicing bacon, ham, etc.

I'll second that Mishap.
Always use a balloon whisk when making white sauce - no lumps

Cut pizzas with scissors - much easier than using a knife.

If we are that bad, then can I suggest ABC? As in Always Band Conditioner

And if even that doesn't work, then we really shouldn't be allowed to wash our hair without supervision!

. . . as long as you can remember which one you put the elastic band round . . .

Always buy furniture you can get the vacuum cleaner under without having to move it. I arrived at this conclusion more by accident than design as my taste has always been for old furniture and we have inherited some bits of Victorian furniture from family members.

All this furniture tends to be on legs, wheher for living room or bedroom. I can now thorroughly vacuum the whole house without moving any furniure.

But let's agree to ignore the wrinkles! grin

I remember that last year we had a thread where we were all able to exchange useful household hints, and as we seem to have quite a few new members, I thought it might be an idea to have a fresh one.

I have 2 tips to offer.

Those ladies who recently were confusing their shampoo for the conditioner, try putting an elastic band around one of the bottles. That way even in the shower you should be able to tell them apart.

Ironing long curains.

When I do this I usually find that that as you work down the cutain, the ironed bits end up in a pile and getting re-creased. If you have a landing with bannisters, position your ironing board parallel to the banisters, and as you iron feed the fabric over the banister so that it is free hanging, so to speak.

(Sorry, bungalow dwellers!) smile
