Storing plastic bags

Some people will continue to buy plastic bags every time they visit the supermarket anyway - what's another 5 or 10p if you're paying for a trolleyload?

As petallus says, they're useful for other purposes as well.

I just refuse plastic bags, be it in supermarkets, clothes or shoe shops-and always have a reusable one with me - I make sure I have the receipt to hand just in case. Much easier and no storage problem ;)

I've got one like the Ikea one but I think I got mine from Lakeland. I bought it years ago and have it attached to the utility room wall. It is used loads and we use plastic carriers for all sort of things.

My reusable bags are stored in my car but, if the car has been used to go to the tip or to put DS's wheelchair in, the bags are dumped in the hall and can sometimes take root! blush

I don't see that changing totally so bought bags will still have to be used. Aren't small shops exempt from having to charge?

I see your point Charleygirl. Maybe I won't splash out on the expensive one.

Grannyknot I was considering the one you have. Is it any good for just standing on the worktop or does it have to be attached to something?

I've got a plastic cylinder thing full of holes (so you stuff the bags in the top and yank them out any of the holes) that I bought for next to nothing from Ikea:

I have a "Crocodile" bin on the inside of my kitchen cupboard door and I need plastic bags for that, so I don't have many kicking around.

Petallus I personally think that it will be a waste of money beause sometime next year we will have to buy plastic bags if we do not supply our own type of bag, plastic or otherwise.

I think that you will be using your new item on a very temporary basis and it is quite expensive.

I made a fabric tube with elastic at either end. It hangs behind the kitchen door. I put plastic bags in at the top and take them out at the bottom.

I'm considering buying a plastic bag dispenser, in particular the Simplehuman free standing one which costs £17 or so.

I'm fed up with crumpled up bags falling out of my cupboard every time I open the door.

I wonder if anyone has a dispenser and if they are any good.

In anticipation of some comments, I know I shouldn't have plastic bags but I can't see me doing without just yet. They are handy for rubbish, swimming kit and other stuff.
