I truly admire those who up sticks and move confidently to another country. I reckon that because they EXPECT to have a great time, they DO have a great time. I lived in the Channel Islands (not even really 'abroad'!) for 9 years and missed England every day. I tried hard to settle down and become a Channel Islander but I didn't succeed very well and was glad to return to Blighty. Apart from family and friends, I missed the good shops (internet is not the same), the good customer service (not prevalent in the CIs), trains, my job, English villages, London.....oh, well, I could go on but it's boring.
I reckon the original poster is one of those who has done the research and is confident of settling well in her new country, which I am sure she will do, so the very best of luck to her - hope you have a great time.
I am procrastinating and need to stop!
Welsh Senedd Election - PR in action. This will be interesting!
