How do you get men's white y-fronts clean without using bio detergent (which they are so often allergic to) and a boil wash, which ruins the elastic ... c

...so that you don't get grey pants with, shall we say, 'off colour' middle bits?

Give him a packet of tissues!

My MiL used to swear by drying them on the hedge in her back garden, in the sun.
I just used to check 'em out.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 03-Feb-16 20:59:06

Be still my beating heart!! Or beating something and I am very old!!

I have to hand wash DHs silk boxers in lux flakes and he buys new white boxers every 8 weeks.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 03-Feb-16 19:46:03

My DH changes his underpants every day without fail, but when we started living together over 30 years ago and I saw stains on his tighty whiteys, they had to go! First he changed to coloured y-fronts and then he chose to change to boxers and later to boxer trunks. Personally I think a man in white y-fronts is not an appealing sight, no matter how attractive the wear may be. Sorry.

Can't be said often enough ... CHANGE THEM EVERY DAY ... we ladies do so why can't the men

midgey Wed 03-Feb-16 19:05:38

Soak them in Persil, they will soon be white again.

Just had a really bad cough and couldn't have coped without Tena lady. Felt like a very old lady!! Sorry off topic?

harrysgran Wed 03-Feb-16 18:12:54

Thankfully it's not a problem for me?

hallgreenmiss Wed 03-Feb-16 17:55:08

It find the 90 degree wash gets most whites clean without spoiling the elastic.

Flowerofthewest Wed 03-Feb-16 17:46:00

Jaxie Wed 03-Feb-16 15:42:24

granjura Wed 03-Feb-16 14:47:54

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 03-Feb-16 14:46:08

Bored now

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 03-Feb-16 14:45:55

I might buy one or some of these various products. And perhaps use them. If I can actually get myself to care enough.

Thank you for all the advice.

Sorry about repeat message, It
had not appeared so I did it again and of course then they both came up.

I am with jingles. I take great pride in hanging out my washing. I never put whites in with anything else, I think that's half the problem. I use Ariel bio powder and chuck in a sachet of Dr Beckmann Glowhite stain remover. £2.00 for 5 sachets in Wilko. Put in some nice fabric softener and that's it. Perhaps I am lucky that OH doesn't seem to be bothered about bio powder. All my whites, be it socks, towels or pants look sparkling in the sun on the line. I remember my poor old Nan sweating over a boiler and then using a "blue" in a sock for the final rinse, thank goodness we don't have to do that anymore.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 03-Feb-16 14:06:34

Don't be mean. He's comfortable in them. And a vest tucked into those slips looks ridiculous.

auntbett Wed 03-Feb-16 14:02:37

Just thrown the damned Y fronts away! Revolting items.

Foxyferret Wed 03-Feb-16 13:55:31

I agree with jinglebellsfrocks. My OH has white and coloured. I never put whites in with anything else, I just use Ariel bio powder and pop in a sachet of Dr Beckmann Glowhite stain remover. £2.00 for 5 sachets. All my whites look sparkling be it socks, towels or pants and when they go on the line I know I will not be embarrassed by off whites. My Nan used an old boiler and a "blue" in a sock, so thank goodness we don't have to do that anymore.
