How do you get men's white y-fronts clean without using bio detergent (which they are so often allergic to) and a boil wash, which ruins the elastic ... c

...so that you don't get grey pants with, shall we say, 'off colour' middle bits?

Grannyknot Tue 02-Feb-16 10:06:37

I'd chuck them in the bin.

Who wears white Y-fronts in this day and age?

Jalima Tue 02-Feb-16 10:10:58

Is this a companion thread to That Other One?
Ie washing intimate parts?
grin
They still sell them so lots of men must wear them
And as they're all cotton they must be better in very hot weather than nasty polycotton

My old feller. White cotton ones from Marks and Sparks. Always has done, always will. He can't be he only one or M and S wouldn't stock 'em.

Chucking in the bin somehow seems a bit un-ecological.

Is there a competition on at the moment for who can start threads with the most unsavoury titles and contents??

Purpledaffodil Tue 02-Feb-16 10:11:54

grin Grannyknot. I so agree with you. And if the wearer objects, then let him wash them himself!

Riverwalk Tue 02-Feb-16 10:12:10

jings grin

And be warned Grannyknot (and others). Coloured ones just don't show marks discolouration. It's still there.

I am sure that cotton is biodegradable - it's a natural fabric.

So the bin and a trip to M&S for some new ones

Ana Tue 02-Feb-16 10:16:08

Yes, I was just thinking that Jalima. They aren't that expensive that you have to hang on to them when they're old and discoloured...(the pants, that is!).

Teetime Tue 02-Feb-16 10:18:28

My mother used to boil my fathers and use them as dusters once they lost their whiteness. I was always embarrassed to do her dusting with my fathers old pants.

DH is a smoothie- only wears plain black slips- and yes he has the figure for it. grin

Alea Tue 02-Feb-16 10:18:45

If "Stain remover" and a very hot wash don't do the business, bin them and buy new.

Alea Tue 02-Feb-16 10:21:51

Good point roses - I can't wait to see the GN daily newsletter headlines.(And no, I am not repeating the relevant thread titles)
What anyone coming to GN for the first time must think of some people's our preoccupations ! ???

Mine OH only has one or two pairs that are white but he doesn't often wear them (the white ones that is grin ), a hot wash and line drying preferably in the sunshine is the way to go if they still look grubby its time of the bin.

tanith Tue 02-Feb-16 11:41:40

Where did that 'Mine' come from? My!

FarNorth Tue 02-Feb-16 11:51:08

What devotion you show to someone else's pants, jingls. I'm surprised at you. grin grin

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:53:37

But the label says 40 degree wash. That's not hot. It doesn't take long for them to become grey looking. We have got hard water which doesn't help.

It would be so wasteful to throw them away. And think 'resources'.

harrigran Tue 02-Feb-16 11:54:03

Yuck, white pants on men. Bleach, boil wash with bio powder, the works.

J52 Tue 02-Feb-16 11:54:40

Make him wear black or navy blue. Asda do lovely red striped ones! grin wink

My laundry is a matter of pride falconbird. I can't put any old crap on my washing line.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:56:40

Harrigran he will itch!

There is no answer. [despair]

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:57:38

Oh! That was Farnorth. Not falconbird. Soz.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 12:05:23

And no way am I using his old drawers for cleaning. I'm an e-cloths girl.

Stansgran Tue 02-Feb-16 12:13:47

Goldoxy or Oxy gold (I've forgotten the name)is something I use on table napkins and DH's handkerchiefs. The Lord alone knows what DH does with his handkerchiefs when he's been golfing or fishing. And he (DH not The Lord) can turn a crisp linen napkin into a rag not fit for anything in one day.
