How do you get men's white y-fronts clean without using bio detergent (which they are so often allergic to) and a boil wash, which ruins the elastic ... c

...so that you don't get grey pants with, shall we say, 'off colour' middle bits?

FarNorth Tue 02-Feb-16 13:13:58

(His own pants, that is!)

FarNorth Tue 02-Feb-16 13:13:27

Tell him that pants washing is now his department.

loopylou Tue 02-Feb-16 13:08:18

And DH has coloured pants anyway!

loopylou Tue 02-Feb-16 13:07:40

Let him itch, that'll persuade him to change faster than anything! ?

Actually he won't itch if:
1. You don't tell him
2. You use correct amount of bleach etc and make sure it's well rinsed
3. Plead total ignorance of why, tell a few white fibs ?

I don't seem to have this problem, use bio washing liquid, plus oxy-wotsit and 40° wash.

As said, your machine probably has an 'extra' rinse function. Or put them on a second express wash without any powder after wash has finished.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 12:52:15

Vanish must be biological though.

I will look for that Oxy stuff. That sounds sort of, natural.

Greyduster Tue 02-Feb-16 12:50:47

Of course you could buy underpants that are grey to start with! DH wears grey close fitting trunks which are very 'fetching' shock! The only thing is, these days, he looks like Michaelangelo's David from the back - and Homer Simpson from the frontgrin! He also has a pair of Wallace and Grommet boxers which I keep meaning to throw away, but he is very attached to them! If any of his underwear is the worse for wear in any respect, I ditch it - he never would.

Grannyknot Tue 02-Feb-16 12:50:14

nonnie1 shock

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 12:49:34

I give in. nonnie1's DH has beaten mine! grin

I have got mine trained now to start clean ones every day.

nonnie1 #couldtryharder. grin

What J52 says- OH only wears dark colour- and lately striped and paisley design- and I'd chuck him out if he didnt' change them every day!!!... and thank goodness no 'off colour' bits (if there is a problem in that dept- tell him to wipe!)

How about some Vanish with the washing powder, and then add an extra rinse at the end (no pun intended - but maybe that would help too..) if he has sensitive skin.

Nonnie1 Tue 02-Feb-16 12:37:12

Oh this is a disgusting thread smile

My other half scratches his bum through his underpants and there is always a stain at the back rather than at the front

The way I deal with this is to drag them off him regularly as he would wear them for a week if he could, or even more.

Wash often and there won't be a problem with any sort of bodily stain

If they are still stained after washing I sling them.

YUK !

Grannyknot Tue 02-Feb-16 12:29:10

teetime my DH too, on both counts! Must be 'cause they're golfers wink

jings I didn't say what bin! Could be the recycling bin!

Stansgran Tue 02-Feb-16 12:13:47

Goldoxy or Oxy gold (I've forgotten the name)is something I use on table napkins and DH's handkerchiefs. The Lord alone knows what DH does with his handkerchiefs when he's been golfing or fishing. And he (DH not The Lord) can turn a crisp linen napkin into a rag not fit for anything in one day.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 12:05:23

And no way am I using his old drawers for cleaning. I'm an e-cloths girl.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:57:38

Oh! That was Farnorth. Not falconbird. Soz.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:56:40

Harrigran he will itch!

There is no answer. [despair]

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:55:42

My laundry is a matter of pride falconbird. I can't put any old crap on my washing line.

J52 Tue 02-Feb-16 11:54:40

Make him wear black or navy blue. Asda do lovely red striped ones! grin wink

harrigran Tue 02-Feb-16 11:54:03

Yuck, white pants on men. Bleach, boil wash with bio powder, the works.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:53:37

But the label says 40 degree wash. That's not hot. It doesn't take long for them to become grey looking. We have got hard water which doesn't help.

It would be so wasteful to throw them away. And think 'resources'.

FarNorth Tue 02-Feb-16 11:51:08

What devotion you show to someone else's pants, jingls. I'm surprised at you. grin grin

tanith Tue 02-Feb-16 11:41:40

Where did that 'Mine' come from? My!

tanith Tue 02-Feb-16 11:40:55

Mine OH only has one or two pairs that are white but he doesn't often wear them (the white ones that is grin ), a hot wash and line drying preferably in the sunshine is the way to go if they still look grubby its time of the bin.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 02-Feb-16 11:01:47

And! Touch your toes!
