A cobweb? A single cobweb? Guilt about a single cobweb?
Guffaw! ???
Well that came out well ! I was distracted by all that cobweb talk - I think my longest one is about 7 feet. Quite pretty really ...
carerof123, as thers have said, you seem to have a lovely , balanced life-style. Perhaps you need simply need to add a small dose of the lesser known disease: a hardening of the oughteries ...
The time to worry is when your cobwebs have cobwebs ; ).
I have more time to lie on the sofa and read so I tend to notice cobwebs more ....
I had a cleaner/ironer when I worked and the DCs were at home, and just carried on cleaning every week when I retired. The whole house, thoroughly .Then I realised it wasnt actually that dirty.I now clean thoroughly every four weeks (sometimes every 6) and just do the obvious stuff in between .I do try and coincide The Clean with visitors/meetings I'm hosting, I'll admit And it has to be pristine, clean sheets, towels ,everything, before I go on holiday.
I have a nice long soak in the bath with wine after it .And feel terribly virtuous. I actually find cleaning quite satisfying .But I hate ironing and avoid like the plague .
I would love to live in a tidy, organised house but we have two dogs and I feel they are to blame for the cobwebs and general clutter. They look so innocent but that's all a ruse. One of them is asleep beside me now and it wouldn't be right to get the Hoover out and disturb him. He knows this. It was his plan to prevent me from tidying.
We are decorating and I am polishing every bit of furniture at the moment before it goes back again.
If that sounds virtuous, at the back of my mind is the thought that I needn't do more than flick a feather duster around and use the handheld Dyson in the corners for the next few years
(Then again, I have just noticed some cobwebs in the conservatory, but they are too high to reach without the stepladder!).
Damn! Strike through failed again!
I hereby present the -sluts- sensible approach to housekeeping charter.
1) not cleaning your windows reduces the sunlight coming in & fading your soft furnishings
2) not cleaning your oven saves money, as the layer that builds up act as insulation
3) not making your bed is healthy, you are actually "leaving it to air"
4) as already mentioned, cobwebs are natures fly traps, throw a handful of glitter at them and you have ready made decorations.
DISCLAIMER:
I do actually make my bed, but only after it has "been left to air" for at least an hour, Mr P is in charge of oven cleaning, and a jolly good job he makes of it too! We have a window cleaner for the outsides, as for the insides, well, they do get done eventually!
My house isn't dirty or untidy (except for the home office, which is often in need of a good paperwork sort out
but I refuse to become a slave to it, I still work and can often find something better to do on my day off other than what Mr P refers to as "a spot of light domestic"
Actually I am proud to announce that I cleaned off some cobwebs yesterday!!! But I do it very rarely! Enjoy yourself! Cobwebs keep!
Dust is a protective covering for furniture !! ?
You're living your life !! That's what all the years before were leading up to . Enjoy it ! I love how it sounds
Wouldn't want to live in a dirty untidy house ( yuk) but going out on a sunny day is a sensible thing to do, chores can be done the next day, or when it rains. We went out today to walk in the fab grounds and gardens of Blenheim Palace, and it was glorious, blue sky, daffodils round the huge lake, and masses of snowdrops.
Hire a Lady what does
I stitched a sampler - A tidy house is a sign of an empty life . It's hanging in the hall as a warning to all who venture in
I have watched my neighbour over the road, clean their cars two or three times a week for years. Such energy, not for me I'm afraid. Would you like to come round to see if my cobwebs are bigger than your cobwebs? Perhaps we could have a cobwebs contest! Oh, don't forget the dust piles. Leave your cobwebs, it is someones home after all, and enjoy what you do, you never know what life has in store for you.
Oh I have lots of avoidance strategies where housework is concerned. They are usually things like cups of tea, GN, Facebook, reading, knitting/sewing, GN, chatty phone calls, Facebook, window shopping, GN, and before I know it, oops, it's time to cook dinner. Followed swiftly by a quick check-in with GN.
Cobwebs? We have very high ceilings so they're generally outside my normal field of vision
careof123 I wish I could be like you - I've always put housework and jobs like admin first- must play more golf and go out for trips this year.
It's the drifty ones which waft in the central heating which make me think I have floaters in my eyes. They have to go.
Gosh that sounds tiring!
I have a couple of mugs of tea in bed, log on to GN and it's lunchtime before you know where you are. Cobwebs? Leave off the glasses
It is very important to treasure cobwebs and value them for their fly-catching virtues. I certainly follow that policy and have done for many years.
No guilt, and a cobweb is a spiders work of art, trashing that could cause guilt , enjoy life , it is your life , be happy
Your life seems great.
Carry on.
You are keeping healthy with all that fresh air and excercise.
Friendship Is important.
We are a long time dead!
Cobwebs mean no flies
The dust will be there when you have shuffled off this mortal coil! Enjoy yourself now, there may come a time when you can no longer do so much so enjoy!
If you are retired do you find that you always do the things you enjoy and avoid other things. I love to go running three times a week, i play bowls three times a week during the winter and up to five times in the summer, i love to cook and bake, also to potter in my greenhouse and garden, meet friends for coffee and go out with my daughter to the cinema or shopping, i also try to visit my oldest friend every month. This doesn't leave much time for housework and i often plan to do stuff but then think oh its too nice to be indoors, or so and so wants me to go out with them. Should i feel guilty about a cobweb hanging from the ceiling or not!!!
