DH and I just bought a secondhand bathroom suite for £75. It's in beautiful condition with a rolltop bath and victorian style taps. When we told a friend she was shocked, saying she could never have a secondhand suite as we don't know who's been using it. I found this a bit silly as surely we use bathrooms in hotels which have been used by other people. Do others buy a lot of secondhand stuff??

We've done it in the past. We bought a burgundy (never, ever have a burgundy bathroom suite!) bathroom suite with a huge corner bath, pedestal wash basin and toilet (with no seat) and brought it home in our estate car with the bath strapped on the roof. We had no money for anything new. Happy days. smile

Love second hand stuff! Wish I'd found your treasure first! Hubby and I love browsing the charity shops, car boots, junk shops and antique shops, where ever we go. It saves a lot of stuff going to rubbish dumps too so it's good for the environment.

l,ve no problem at all with second goods, almost everything can be washed cleaned or bleached.

What about clothes bought online, but then returned as not suitable? If they have been tried on, are they then not 'second hand' when purchased by a new customer.

I have a friend who would not enter a charity shop. Whatever she buys is expensive and/or designer. There is not a comfortable chair to sit on in her house. The most uncomfortable one was bought at great expense because it looked good. More money than sense.

I buy a lot of books from charity shops and many look as though they have been read once and then taken to the charity shop.

Enjoy your bathroom suite Antjexix. We love a secondhand bargain and enjoy browsing in charity shops and auctions. We've had some amazing things. Our G plan dining table, with extra leaf and four chairs cost me £7 and I had a wonderful Irish tweed winter coat from Oxfam vintage online.

Marelli make her an offer. That sounds absolutely gorgeous. I love that period for furniture.
