Wouldn't their taking in of water just take a bit longer than usual because it wasn't flowing so fast? That's presuming it goes into a machine at full pressure/blast, which ir probably doesn't.

I don't think there should be a problem.

I have just put a load of washing in the machine, and would really like to fire up the dishwasher at the same time, but I imagine there might not be enough water for both! Does anyone else do this?

(I wouldn't ask the Bodach for fear of ridicule)
