Hi everyone, need some advice on "getting rid" of my parents hand me downs!! I have a collection of assorted plates and glass bowls which belonged to my mother, if she was here now she would be 94 bless her.
We have just re-decorated our living room, and have nowhere to store these items. I want to de clutter and also I dont want our children to have to trawl through boxes of stuff which neither of them have probably ever seen and will definitely never want in their own homes, when DH and I are no longer around!
My problem is DH says we should keep them because they have sentimental value- I get his point that they are part of my family history but we don't have the space!!! My mum would say without any hesitation at all "Get rid, if you can sell them do it, or give them to charity!"
Some of the plates are probably 70 or 80 years old but as to their market value I would not know what it would be.
Whenever I have charity bags to go DH always always rummages through them and moans that I am getting rid of perfectly good stuff. He is a great hoarder, keeping hold of things" just in case"
Should I take them while he is not around or hang on to them? What to do, what to do!!!
