Cheats way to clean floor

The worst of it is that we live in a rented property and have an annual inspection. Last time we renewed our tenancy agreement it was extended to 2 years from 1 year. We have been here nearly 3 years now, very happy and inspection has been annual in Feb, but none this year. I thought we had got away with it as we still have over a year to go on the renewal - then the letter arrived this week asking us to make an appointment. All fixed for next week. It is just a small cottage and the inspection is more about checking that we are happy than anything else, but SHOCK, HORROR ... I will have to clean the oven and do floors and sills and glass and .... like I said earlier BLEURRRRRRRGH!!!

I washed it because my 2 year old GS found the mop hidden away in the utility room and wanted to have a go - he had great fun!

Cleaning? Did someone mention CLEANING? Bleurrrrrrgh!

I buy the grandkids a polishing t shirts and socks , then they skid around the hall floor !!

Quick squirt of floor spray and they're off .

What prompted you to give it a wash * lucky*?

This whole thread is quite fascinating - I washed the kitchen floor a few weeks ago and that was the first time for.......a........year! No harm appears to have come to us - from the washing I mean.

What a good idea NanaandGrampy! I have 7 so I'm sure I could persuade at least one of the GC to oblige. I also like the idea of using floor wipes. THAT will stop me using the bucket which I shouldn't really be using at the moment. It's a job I loathe as the moment I've done the floor someone either spills something or brings in the garden on their shoes without thinking.

GrandmaKT I have animals so I wash the steamer pads with their bedding and towels. My washing machine has a auto clean programme so I use that afterwards.

I have a very large area of stone floor in kitchen and hall,that gets a steam clean weekly although that does not get out the ingrained dirt on stone
But I walk barefoot and that's my test of a clean floor..check the soles of your feet.!
Bathrooms ..wait for it..I steam clean less often and in the interim regularly use afloor wipe and move it round the floor with my foot..simples !

Di have only a small kitchen so I do the floor with my feet and floor wipes. Seems to work very well and no storage problems!

I give it a rinse and a rub, getting rid of the worst, then put it in the washing machine with the towels on a fairly hot wash.

It only came with one cover, I could do with a couple more

OK, I want to ask all you with steam mops a question. I have one too and I never know what to do with the dirty towel cover. Do you:
a) Have so many that you can save them up and do a whole wash load of dirty covers
b) Put them in the wash with other items
c) Hand wash them
d) Another option I haven't thought of
????

We have a non-slip flooring in bathroom and en-suite and I find it seems to attract fluff etc round the edges.
I steam clean regularly but yesterday found me scrubbing all around the edges and in the corners with cleaning fluid and a couple of old toothbrushes!

I have quarry tiles, Rhino Lino stuff and wood. I use Traffic Wax every 6-9 months and find all the floors only need a quick wipe over inbetween.

I've got 2 indoor cats so feel the need to do the wipes with my foot everyday and the tiles are very pale cream, I must have needed my head reading choosing those. They show every speck Witzend

St send us o s\ eam cleaner for me, so quick and easy.
The foot and floor wipe method reminded me of my mum who used to give my brother and me old socks to go over our slippers and send us to 'skate' around on the Lino. One had some polish on the others didn't. Crafty wasn't she!

Thanks for this thread overthehill. I've just done my kitchen and bathroom with a spray bottle of floor cleaner and water, then mopped with an eco cloth over the end of my squeezy mop.
Worked a treat and done in no time!

I got a vileda spongy mop for a more thorough clean and a spray bottle and a microfibre mop for a quick clean. I've got wood flooring so don't want it getting too wet.

Mr C does ours . Floor wipes and steam cleaner according to how he feels.

Mop and bucket with plenty of boiling hot water and detergent everytime.

Do your floors get particularly dirty or am I just a slut? All I do on a daily basis, and not always even that, is a quick sweep with a quaint, old fashioned broom.

Should add that I am a mite more particular if crawling grandchildren are visiting - no. 2 is almost there - so kitchen floor will be getting rather more attention soon. But I was very careful when it went down to pick a heavy duty vinyl that doesn't show every little speck.
Used to have to do it a lot more when we had ddog and dcat, though - RIP both.
