My daughter and I both struggle with SAD and would like to get one or more daylight lights. The ones from >Lumia seem expensive, but I'd still get one if necessary, but does anyone have any experience/recommendations please folks?

I’ve had one for years. It isn’t a cure all but it does take the edge off my symptoms. My lamp is huge the more light it gives out the less time I have to spend using it. I put it on after my shower while I’m putting on my body lotion, doing my hair and make up and watching the morning news. So for about 15-25 mins. Funnily enough I haven’t used at all so far this year.

I used to have one of those Lumie "sunrise" lamps to wake up to each day and would spend 20 minutes or so under its full light before getting up. It did take the edge off my symptoms but, last year, it developed a fault and I scrapped it.
I've just replaced it with a Philips Energy-Up blue spectrum light. I've only been using it for 4 days so it's a little early to pass judgement but I think it is making a difference. My symptoms were pretty bad last week and I feel brighter now.
It's very neat, about 20cm square; you can adjust the brightness to suit your need/preference; cost around £90 from Amazon.

Lumie are expensive but if you buy direct from them they have a 45 day trial period. If it works then it's definitely worth the money. If it doesn't work you get your money back.

My daughter has M.E and the Lumie Bodyclock Alarm has changed her life. It has regularised her sleep pattern and her health has steadily improved.

Just an update on the Energy-Up light now that I've been using it for a couple of weeks: I do feel better about life, the universe and everything. I still loathe this time of year but am feeling more positive and forward looking than even ten days ago.
The lamp is simple to use, pleasant to sit in front of - like being in the garden on a sunny day - and easy to fit into daily life (I just sit down with it beside me while I drink my morning coffee). Ten out of ten.sunshine

my mum in law was told that Vitamin D depletion is the cause of SAD ,so as well as her lamp she's taking Vit D supplement.Check with your doctor and see if that could be the cause in your case ..or just buy some tablets or a vit D spray at the chemist and give it a try
