I’ve had Karndean all on the ground floor for a while now and I’m very happy with it. One room had s wooden floor and the kitchen and conservatory had a concrete floor. Can’t remember about the Hall.
The person who fitted the Kardean suggested we have a waterproof thingy in the kitchen before laying the Karndean. It was a pink gooey self levelling thingy that took 48 hours to dry. I think he put some kind of plywood in the room with the wooden floor first.
Anyway to cut a long story short, make sure the fitters are well qualified and know what they’re doing, and I’m sure whatever of the two you choose you will be pleased with it.
